The only possible way I could imagine Aaron committing suicide is if he saw that his BAR attorney's were screwing him (which is likely), and he knew that his life was over, and calculatingly decided his work in life was better promoted by his death than by his incarceration.

And that IS how the BAR courts work. They operate under their own exclusive rules (not created by a legislature), and they are a private club, and they make things go however they want, and if attorney's don't play along, they may as well choose another profession. Just look at Schaeffer Cox and Vernon whatshisname - they did nothing except make a couple of disturbing comments after 100s of hours of being set-up, bugged, harrassed, etc. And for that, over a quarter-century of imprisonment ... for comments ... further supported by a weapons sale in which he was interested for his own defense due to a climate of the govt's own manufacture. And their attorney's helped nothing, they were working on behalf of the BAR to flush them down the drain. If you ever use an attorney, you are asking for much worse than you could do in utter ignorance, generally.

I find suicide hard to believe. What is the truth?

Ruling made before any forensic testing done by medical examiner?

Doesn't a judge have to rule on the cause of death?

The dead man had rights when he was living, How many ways were they infringed.

100% a conspiracy

I believe in a conspiracy...one where a bunch of paid government trolls are posting on this forum ridiculous theories without any evidence in order to discredit and embarrass the Ron Paul movement.

I'm 100% certain this is true, or at least I hope so!

Check out http://ronpaulforums.com for activism and news.

Sounds like you may be a

Sounds like you may be a coincidence theorist to me...

Look. I agree it is frivolous to jump to conclusions without considering all the facts. I'm not saying this was absolutely an assignation. Nor will I say it was absolutely a suicide. But whatever happened to critical thinking without accepting everything one is told? Whatever happened to confirming the "supposed" givens before proceeding to formulate what necessarily would produce a false conclusion? Questioning the "known" facts in any case, be it a murder, a convenient political event, or the report on the weather, is hardly something to scorn and certainly not something to ridicule, unless one subscribes to a world where propaganda and agenda-driven news always purports the truth and wherein any anomalous occurrence that does quite fit the narrative must be "mere coincidence." To complicate things, facts procured via mediated experience are ALWAYS shrouded and concealed behind the truth, most often by design, and more often the so-called facts are outright generated and fabricated to confuse any critical examination of any given event.

Whether this was suicide or not, a string of very convenient and "accidental" deaths should certainly not be dismissed as mere coincidence. And especially if that is what the mainstream media is reporting. Come on, man. This is elementary.

These assignations will

These assignations will eventually backfire. At present, it would seem the targets include little-known, but potentially very influential activists. If they continue, and I suspect they will, they will awaken more and more people to the American Stasi and the type of country we've become.

Honestly, it doesn't even matter if this was truly a suicide. Perhaps it was. With each additional "accidental" death, however, even the most obtuse and skeptical will begin to catch on.

Be Critical

It seems as if 'they' are saying "he suffered from depression for years" as a means to justify suicide. But MOST people, by far, that suffer from periodic *episodes* (it's not like you are suffering endlessly) of depression do not kill themselves. According to http://www.allaboutdepression.com/gen_04.html

* Up to 15% of those who are clinically depressed die by suicide.
* In 1997, suicide was the 8th leading cause of death in the United States. 10.6 out of every 100,000 persons died by suicide. The total number of suicides was approximately 30,535.
* There are an estimated 8 to 25 attempted suicides to 1 completion.
* Suicide by firearms is the most common method for both men and women, accounting for 58% of all suicides in 1997.

So, if he suffered from "clinical depression", chances are 85% that he would never kill himself. And chances are, if he ever felt like killing himself, he would have some history of attempts before success. And chances are, most of the people that kill themselves are unable to be objective, and are probably the least intelligent of those with "clinical depression". And chances are, he would have used a gun if possible. Basically, the number of suicides per year is about the same as the number of traffic fatalities, approximately. So, taking all of that into account, and the fact that he was very sensitive toward all life (vegetarian that wouldn't even want to kill bugs), the way he supposedly killed himself would be in the less than 5% category or so, maybe 1%.

The court case had no legs, and I do not see any way that he could have been utterly distraught and in total despair over it, and the media is not saying this. The media keeps pumping out that he faced 35-50 years, and commentors say "he saw suicide as his only way out", and Wikipedia and other places say things like "he suffered depression throughout 2007 and wrote about it extensively", and so on ... And every report is saying "suicide" conclusively before an autopsy has even been done.

But these things are not true. He had no reason to be distraught, the government was just acting out of an agenda to get him for releasing the PACER documents, which the FBI investigated and found no case. Maybe there was some anger at him over the Internet regulation bills. And the govt had no case with the JSTOR incident either, which was very similar, technically - just downloading available material - no hacking or breaking into anything ... But the media is pumping out this disinfo as well.

He wrote *one* piece on feeling ill, and it included 4 items, 1 being depression, during a very stressful period in his life, and he probably had other episodes, and did do some study on the subject, and he was knowledgeable and objective about it, had no real shame about it and was open about it, and had the health insurance to treat it however he wished. I see nothing about him that would indicate that he would simply succumb to suicidal thoughts, losing all objectivity, unless he was on SSRI withdrawal or something similar. He knew things well enough to just wait for the end, knowing these things were passing in nature. And he was, as I, interested in hacking the law, seeing how it is like a computer program.

He was highly excited to testify before the Supreme Court, and was not exactly "green" when it came to dealing with the court system. He studied many things, and sought to understand things, and curious objective minds don't kill themselves off in their 20s easily. He was also someone who blogged about all this thoughts openly, and was not secretive about his feelings, and he had a very supportive father, and his mother was quoted as saying they did not notice any severe depression. Also, nobody has stated that his depression was "severe", and although he may have contemplated suicide, whether jokingly or not, it is just a part of the normal human experience to wonder about it, and it was part of his human experience to write about all he wondered. My feeling, from reading his last writings and others, was that he knew that there was a big cobweb of evil amongst humanity, possibly woven into human nature itself, but he liked the big problems, and was totally not one to try and escape from them.

It would be nice to know what was tested, investigated, and to have some kind of independent autopsy, but we never get those things, and I am not having the impression that the family knows how corrupt courts and government agents play. Most of you that deal with courts over inconsequential matters probably frown at them, but those that deal with courts that expose their corruption know that they will trump up felonies on you, lock you up for no reason at all, or kill you, or whatever - anything is possible, and they have all the criminal connections to do what they want to do.

Unfortunately, we will just get told the standard line, buy it, and move on. We really don't have much choice in the matter. I buy the whole story as much as I'd buy a story on Ron Paul committing suicide. It just doesn't add up, and throwing the "D" word around as they do, it's seems 'they' are up to no good, trying to justify the unjustifiable.

Woven into human nature

"My feeling, from reading his last writings and others, was that he knew that there was a big cobweb of evil amongst humanity, possibly woven into human nature itself, but he liked the big problems, and was totally not one to try and escape from them."

I was describing this verbally last night, in fact: the quote "You don't have a soul. You are a soul. You temporarily have a body." I am deeply moved by this; it is changing my world view. I'm not this piece of matter; I am the patterns of my consciousness. I said "Here in material form we can be gruesomely murdered. But a soul cannot; I am here to learn something."

This article, I believe, is part of what I'm here to learn. Thank you.

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

from Huffington Post article

"More recently, he was working with Matt Stoller, a writer and former aide to Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), on a longterm project aimed at ending the drug war. "

I am sure he didn't make friends with the US Govt. over PIPA/and SOPA and then he targets the drug war too. They had nothing on him yet they hounded him.

I am really not sure what motivates oneself to choose hanging as a means of suicide. Did some searching on it and seems strange he would hang himself given his situation and intelligence. As for speculation, supposedly hanging oneself would mask any garrote marks.

C-t-C AM is covering this Aaron Swartz tragedy now.

Here is a link for those interested.

Is there any possibility that this suicide is not what it appears to be? Just putting this thought out there.

John B Wells of Coast-to-Coast-Am.com

...Just finished discussing it and also gave out the phone # to call to aid in prevention of passage of further NDAA Erosion of liberties...

Will hafta post the "Panda(?).org website tomorrow.

John has been steadily documenting the decline of Liberty lately, he's spot-on, and he also discussed the current Flu-Pandemic WORLDWIDE.

Where to listen:

"Beyond the blackened skyline, beyond the smoky rain, dreams never turned to ashes up until.........
...Everything CHANGED !!

It's a tragic loss

He led the defeat of SOPA/PIPA. This bill was a done deal. Nobody thought it could be stopped...

Weird coincidence on his last blog post:

In describing the Dark Knight movie. The last line in Aaron's last blog post:

"Thus Master Wayne is left without solutions. Out of options, it’s no wonder the series ends with his staged suicide."

Just thought that this was weird.

NO Suicide

This is disinfo. Nobody with Aaron's dedication, intelligence, and principles could murder themselves; it would violate the very foundation of all of their ethics upon which their entire life is built. Average people probably can't understand this, but those with similar grounding upon which their altruism stands know this to be as true as the sky being blue. This stuff about "Oh, 'they' said he was depressed" stuff is utter BS to the max if meant to find excuse. The Internet is crawling like maggots on a corpse with disinfo sheep-herding fed-related agents in efforts to curb and manufacture public opinion. If I had to point a finger, it would point toward the 'just-us' department, out of fear of Aaron's interest in understanding the basics of "hacking the law", and seeing the public opinion that may form around such an accomplished and intelligent person exposing the logic+reason corruption going on within the system, and the obvious overt information that would be spreading around his trial.

Interestingly, I was just reading his website/blog as I heard the news of his death, and was just finishing with the last sentence of his last blog:

by Aaron Swartz

What Happens in The Dark Knight ...

Thus Master Wayne is left without solutions. Out of options, it's no wonder the series ends with his staged suicide.

CO, Sandy Hook ... lots of stuff happening around that Batman film, just interesting, I'm not saying anything else concerning that.

White House Petition Posthumously pardon Aaron Swartz

Another petition to remove the US Attorney who hounded Aaron Swartz.

The tech community is feeling guilty they did not do anything to help Aaron Swartz. Techies exist in their own privileged bubble but now they are feeling the sting of government against our digital civil rights.

I must have been a danger to government.

Here is a detailed list of

Here is a detailed list of his "criminal" activity. He was no felon.

What Aaron did would better be described as “inconsiderate.” He found a loophole for quickly downloading journals.

Make no mistake, the prosecutors killed him.

In an effort to make a name for themselves attorneys and the courts abused this guy to the point at which he had no reason to go on.

He hacked a stupid computer and embarrassed someone at MIT so they made an example of him by destroying his life even before he was convicted.

This yahoo article just came up.

Sounds like everything he "acquired" was public access information. It mentions he was feeling depressed. Let's pray he was not prescribed any of drugs where suicide may be a side affect.

I would not be surprised if

I would not be surprised if drugs were involved.

A possible 50 years in jail

A possible 50 years in jail and a fine of 4 Million for accessing public research documents?

"From the beginning, the government worked as hard as it could to characterize what Aaron did in the most extreme and absurd way. The “property” Aaron had “stolen,” we were told, was worth “millions of dollars” — with the hint, and then the suggestion, that his aim must have been to profit from his crime. But anyone who says that there is money to be made in a stash of ACADEMIC ARTICLES is either an idiot or a liar. It was clear what this was not, yet our government continued to push as if it had caught the 9/11 terrorists red-handed."

His Parent's statement:

It(his death) is the product of a criminal justice system rife with intimidation and prosecutorial overreach. Decisions made by officials in the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s office and at MIT contributed to his death.

Muckraker, Inc

kinda freaky

Isn't it.

Cory Doctorow confirmed

his battle with depression on his blog. CD is a good guy.

Aaron Swartz had a lot left to accomplish. It's a loss to the future.

Whatever his battle with the government, I'm sure the government would have withheld its fire unless the government had something to gain by attacking him. If the government had been directly responsible for his death (other than the predictable results of attacking someone fragile), I think they'd have waited until whatever harmful precedent resulted from their attack on him, then off'd him before he could accomplish other things with more deftness to not be as vulnerable again.

Defend Liberty!

Its hard to say for sure

But perhaps the governments attack on him was likely to fail or maybe there were important things that he knew, and he would not be bullied by the threat of Jail.

Apparently the suicide was by Hanging, which raises questions, since the method would not really fit with his personal style - but that's all just speculation.
