Rand Paul's Son Charged With Assault

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- New charges have been filed on William Hilton Paul, the grandson of former presidential candidate Ron Paul, and son of U.S. Senator Rand Paul.

William Paul, 19, was arrested last Saturday at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport after his flight from Lexington, KY landed in Charlotte.

Paul, a Bowling Green, KY resident, was charged with consuming beer/wine underage, disorderly conduct and being intoxicated and disruptive.

According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, Paul is facing a new charge: assault on a female by aggressive physical force, a misdemeanor.

The circumstances around the new charge have not yet been revealed. It's not clear if the new charge is related to his arrest last week.

Do TSA agents swear an oath to the Constitution?

Or are they essentially private contractors?

Neither. I believe they're

Neither. I believe they're federal employees who are hired with no background check and 2 weeks of training. From what we see, 2 weeks minus weekends looks about right, and it's easy to imagine what the training consists of.

Are they Civil Servants.

As established by the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act of 1883.

They have created an agency that is beyond the reach of justice. So it would seem.

How did they do that?

This kid is NO kid...

He's an adult. He's 19 years of age.

This has no bearing on Rand.

I was 19 and know what a 19 year old does - as do all adults above that age.

When i was 19 I came home

When i was 19 I came home drunk once and almost got into a fist fight with my dad. I have the best parents ever. It was totally my fault and I regret it to this day. No matter how well you are brought up things happen. It's not gonna hurt him at all. If anything it makes him more relatable. Rand is going to be a force to be reckoned with in 2016.

We do know that his father and grandfather are committed to ending TSA, Rand was forced to miss a big event because of the TSA, grandma was almost "patted down" when trying to board a private plane after the Republican Convention when eight TSA agents showed up.

In addition, Ross Perot dropped out of the presidential race complaining about threats to his family and Jesse Ventura claimed trumped up charges were filed against his son.

However, let's say that William Paul was intoxicated. When did he get intoxicated? He was charged with intoxication after a thirty minute flight. US Airways says it did not provide him with alcohol on the flight. TSA is responsible for preventing liquids from being carried past the security check. Thirty minutes before, TSA let him board a plane and prior to that allowed him into the passenger area. Was there a security failure in Lexington? Intoxicated passengers are not supposed to be allowed to board planes. So we don't yet know where he managed to get intoxicated or his blood alcohol level. Nor have we seen the security footage verifying TSA claims.

what? does this have anything to do with the TSA?

From what I have read its some drunk dbag on a plane f'n with a flight attendant...FYI the TSA sits at the gate; they are not on the plane!

you can bring liquids on a plane as long as they are under the volume limit. TSA does not care otherwise. So u are saying he had no responsibility for what he put in his own body? they shot him full of booze with out his knowledge? Do they give Breathalyzer to everyone getting on a plane? He could have gotten a snoot full after the TSA check in the airport bar...then walked on the plane like a normal person...then hit altitude and started acting like a dick.

Occam's razor man...19 yearold kids acting like 19 yearold kids

Rand's son done fucked up...deal with it

that sucks but

when you lie to your kids about the dangers of marijuana it can have negative consequences.

This doesn't have anything to do with Rand

running for President does it?

In 1984 Reagan signed a law that stated that states that choose not to raise their drinking age to 21 would loose 10% of their highway fund dollars. That way they weren't actually violating the Constitution or States rights just putting a little roadblock in the way of funding. I have attached a link that shows the drinking age with any exceptions for each state. Please note item #5 Govt. work related purpose. This allows undercover police to be under age 21.

I suspect foul

Since he was arrested at the airport after landing, I assume that the arrest was predicated on alert from TSA or airport security (mall cops).

Having seen an increasing use of intimidation tactics to provoke rash behavior, I suspect that could be a factor. Now, a week later an assault charge is added? Being the son of Rand Paul, it could be an attempt to pressure Rand, or show him what he’s up against.

It is possible that he was drunk, but, given the circumstances, it’s not likely that William Paul is entirely guilty of any improper behavior, even if he had a drink or two on the plane, IMO.

I won't hold someone guilty of underage drinking who is 18 or over. Someone old enough to die in the military and vote, is old enough to drink. We let them decide who should run the country, but not if they should drink? Talk about mixed messaged. ;)

It’s part of the increased length of adolescence and dependency fostered in this country.

Get an attorney and fight it. There is no such thing as justice.

I don't believe the charges myself.

It is a serious charge that may not merit what actually happened.

if there is no justice, then getting an attorney
will not help, they are all aspiring judges
so they will not go against the flow, nor deny themselves a paycheck

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

So that's why they all suck. Good point.

Can we get off this "all

Can we get off this "all attorney's suck" shit? I'm 3rd year law student and I am poor, don't care about money and only care about what's right. We aren't all about money and lies. I only care about the constitution and constitutional laws. If you'd like I have what I feel is a very good paper on the death penalty in Indiana which is different than any other state. It is very interesting and I'd love for you to comment on it. Send me a private message and I'll send it to you. In any case, not all of us are leaches. Some of us actually care about the constitution and the law. I Put it above all else. I never had money and I don't care about money. I cae about justice.

Just Don't Let Them Corrupt You

Impossible. I already said, I was born poor, have always been poor and never cared about money. I'd rather die than be corrupted. No mount of money will ever make me disregard my values.

3rd yr law student?

Where are you going to school? Keep up the hard work, I thought about law school, but then I thought.... I do not know if I could get through it!

I'm at Loyola. It's not as

I'm at Loyola. It's not as hard a people make it seem if you have a bit of study skills. First year is the hardest and they do that on purpose to see if you can hack it. If you can make it through first year you should be ok. I can only afford it because of the GI bill. Like I said, I'm poor. But I believe in the constitution and the rule of law when those laws respect the constitution. I give 2 shits about money. I want to be able to raise a family, of course, but I don't need a Lexis. I don't need a rolex. I need to know that i died doing what was right. That's all I want.

If you want to go to law school and you have any questions feel free to message me. I'd be happy to help you out.

No, Of course

You just want to have enough money to raise your family. People here hate on cops and military and teachers. I worked as a tutor for at risk youth for 3 yrs and I worked my ass off and there it hurts to see the hate for those people. Don't worry about it at all. You are working hard and good for you.

I'm actually leaving to teach English in China in May and I was going to look at law school when I get back. I can study, I have mad studying skills. I was an English undergrad major but I love politics and law also.

Just wanted to share some encouragement with you, because I know grad school, law school, med school can kick your ass. Keep it up!
