Kevin Tuma: Why not Ron Paul for Governor of Texas?

The BIGGEST reason Ron Paul would want to be Governor...
is to be in charge of the Texas Nation Guard! He would have the power to withhold National Guard troops from Obama's Federal control. He would STOP the Feds from calling up the National Guard and making them Active Duty! I really believe Ron Paul would get behind this because it has everything to do with foreign policy. This would be true with any Governor in any state. If all the Governors in all the states held the National Guard in their own states, Most of the foreign wars would STOP!
LoL! Texas could not handle the
influx of new people, nor the spike in intelligence, money and productivity it would gain from these liberty minded people.

This is not the role Ron Paul
This is not the role Ron Paul has chosen. He wants to spread ideas, and allow the people to create the world they want. He does not want to gain power and demand they Live a moral Life of allowing their neighbors to be free.
His job is to spread the philosophy. It's our job to understand it and use it.

He'd be secretly given a choice - either resign your candidacy, or you and your family will suffer your own 'Kennedy Curse' and be bumped off one by one...

Some people say that Ron Paul
Some people say that Ron Paul is too tired and has done enough for the Liberty movement. If that is the case then why is he embarking on a national college tour? Why is he still doing television and radio interviews? Aren't these the exact same things a person does on a campaign? It doesn't seem like Ron Paul is retiring to me and a Texas campaign would actually be easier in terms of travel, etc.
No matter if Ron Paul would run again or not I do believe that we should ask people in our movement who want to run for office to please stop running for congress and start running for Governor or State Rep. The state level is where we can make the most impact and win the most races.

think we need to work at ALL levels. Which levels are priority is another story.

Dr. Paul needs to save his energy for his last run in 2016
He suggested on the Jay Leno show he was going to rest up for 2016. If he gets some new people around him who more folks respect and trust, it could be a win.

If Dr. Paul
runs in 2016 it's a guaranteed win no matter what.
All you have to do is look at the numbers. He ran in '88, little impact. I never even knew it. He ran in '07-08, bigger impact and when I first heard of him. He ran in 2012, we almost WON the nomination, and the liberty movement is now unstoppable.
What do you think would happen in 2016? Just follow the numbers :)

Is it a bad thing to ask and then he just says no? Governor of TX would also be a lot easier for him. No trips to D.C., no cross country campaign trails, etc.

I think it's more a matter of
I think it's more a matter of ROI. The fact is Ron Paul's name on the ballot is worth about $10 million in free publicity (that's a guess but you get the idea) from the get go. This is a race he can win and no one else in our movement has a better shot at it.
I completely agree with your point that we need to take the lead going forward, but you see how quickly the country is deteriorating. If Ron Paul will do it he is the best man for the job. If he doesn't want to I also agree with you that we should absolutely understand.

If Ron Paul says "please stop asking me", then everyone should stop. Until then, it is hardly "sucking the life out of him" to ask him a reasonable question.

Ron Paul could do more
Ron Paul could do more against the Federal Reserve as governor than at any other moment in his life. He could issue a gold backed Texas dollar while also legalizing competitive currencies in the state. I love the idea, I picked up RonPaulForGovernor.com a while back.

We need to get rid of Perry and Dr. Paul has name recognition.
I pray he runs against Perry for the Republican nomination.
Pro Forma President?
Some of you may know much more about this than me, but if I read and understood correctly, should Texas secede, and ally itself with a few other like-minded states, the Governor of the largest could, potentially, become Pro Forma President, of that section of the (formerly) U.S.?
The odds of secession are slim, at best.
However, should such a situation occur, Texas would have a great deal of power since it is, by itself, one of the largest economies on the face of the planet. It would be up to the representatives of the newly created governing organization to appoint, designate, or create an election for an executive office.
But a sitting governor of Texas would have a much better chance of becoming elected to a Presidency, whether of the United States or a newly created government than a State Representative.
Would he want the job?
Ron Paul knows he can have better influence in the world by writing books and public speaking and inspiring others to go out and make changes.
Why not Ronnie or Robert Paul? Or Joy or Lori? Or even Carol?
Or one of the grand kids?
Why always Ron?
We need more like Rand.
It is time to build Ron Paul's legacy.
I am sure Ron will endorse them all.
