This made me laugh out loud (lincoln)

I seriously laughed out loud at a friends house when I saw this shirt. To my dismay I noticed every one else looked at me with a bit of a puzzled look. They asked me why it was so funny. I calmly explained the hypocrisy. To my great pleasure, they wanted to know more.

Never miss an opportunity!

some interesting reactions when I share 'Lincoln's follies'

"What!" "Oh Really?" Then I explain: As a homeschool mom, I care about the revision of history going on. Lincoln's treatment of Southern states was reprehensible, and the disregard for the rule of law was, as well. Then I explain how he disregarded the Bill of Rights. Most are surprised, to say the least, especially when I share the hypocrisy of the Emancipation Proclamation.

"Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the office of a thoroughly nasty business concern." ~~C.S. Lewis
Love won! Deliverance from Tyranny is on the way! Col. 2:13-15

Good Job Verrater !

The T shirt should replace "Tyranny" with "Lincoln".

THAT would really get their attention.

Most people reading it as is, probably think the shirt is about
"Lincoln sought to free the slaves."

Sounds like you did a good job clearing things up for them.

P.S. - there's the new Lincoln movie out now. I heard that its emphasis is entirely different than the book that its supposed to be based on "Team of Rivals". In the movie Spielberg pushes the 'Lincoln sought to free the slaves' propaganda.
Some say they are starting to try to paint O. as 'another Lincoln'. There may be more truth in that than most people know.
I won't be going to the Lincoln movie.

F Brainwashing!

I remember dressing up as Lincoln in the 2nd grade for a history pagent...Honest Abe! I never really learned about the real Lincoln until this year. They put him on the penny, and the 5 dollar bill, and a mountain! He freed the slaves! Ba ha ha ha... public schooling.

Let's start a petition to put Obama, and Romney on Mount Rushmore... they could share the same face, maybe half and half, being as they are pretty much the same person, and Romney worked so hard to almost screw his way to the top.

on the backside of it!

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

I won't be going to see it

I won't be going to see it either. Lincoln ended the United States as we were designed to be and many uninformed want to give this central federal government proponent a medal. Such is sad evidence of either their bias or their ignorance.

Karl Marx and Abraham Lincoln exchanged letters.

Karl Marx and Abraham Lincoln exchanged letters at the end of the Civil War.

A Great Deal Has Been Written . . .

by Walter D Kennedy on the influence of European communists after their revolution of 1848, on the American Civil War.

A great deal of these communists were soldiers in the Union Army, including a general. (By the way, in those days they used the word 'socialist' in the way we would understand the word 'communist' today.)

Kennedy wrote that there wasn't evidence that Lincoln was an actual Marxist. But Marx saw an all powerful central government as essential to his goals. Thats why he wrote with admiration to Lincoln.

Thomas DiLorenzo has researched Lincoln and written a couple books on him. The stories of the 'country boy' that we've been told about Lincoln are a fabrication. He was a wealthy lawyer who did legal work for the railroads. While a lawyer, had his own private rail car. He pushed through a law that enabled him to have railroad lines run through property he owned when he was president. This was for his own personal financial gain. When asked at one point about the South leaving, he replied (paraphrasing by memory from a class I took from DiLorenzo) "But who will pay for the Union?"

The story start with Hamilton's Curse by Delorenzo

The American system of the federalists had a lot in common with Marx's 10 Planks to tyranny fast.

Lincoln establish a central bank, centrally planned agriculture (USDA), centrally controlled railroads, confiscation of the property of rebels. Four out of 10 of Marx's 10 planks.

Thanks for the Kennedy reference, Rob.

Yes, youre right Paul . . .

it did start with Hamilton and what was called the "American System".
It was interesting to discuss Hamilton with DiLorenzo in his class which was offered through the Mises Academy.

I've never emailed Tom, but listened to many of his lectures

and read most of his books besides.

Those Mises courses sound interesting. How did the online format work out for you?

Mises Academy was terrific . . .

Paul. You could watch/listen to lectures live, or watch them later at your convenience. How wonderful to communicate with such noted libertarian scholars on economics and history. There were many questions I wanted to ask Tom on Hamilton & Lincoln & the "American System" and was able to do so.
The courses are cheap. Much cheaper than what you find for many college textbooks today (not to mention the cost of college classes).
I've taken other courses from them, and gave the gift of a course on economics for young people to my high school age nephew and neice. I helped tutor them for that course.
I took a course on the Federal Reserve from Robert Murphy (who constantly spars with Paul Krugman). Not long aftwards he gave testimony before Congress on the economy. You have some very high quality people teaching at Mises Academy. Regards, - - -

Makes Me Want To Scream

Due to the ignorance out there.

skippy . . . what amazes me

is the reaction you get from people when you bring these facts up.

They have been so deeply indoctrinated, so 'brain washed' and crippled by the schools in their capacity to think for themselves. - Many will refuse to even consider that what theyve been 'taught' is false. And curiosity over things other than what is on t.v. or 'trendy', seems to have been erased from many people.

The "Lincoln" image was made into an icon to 'worship'. Like all those Lenin statues they had all over the Soviet Union before it fell.

As was said in the "Matrix" movie, - "it is a prison . . for your mind"

Plenty of work to be done, years worth.

America has had its tyrants but marketed them as Heroes.

It all came about because we gave government the power to tax and borrow.

All donation must be be voluntary for democracy to work.
