Documentary: The War You Don’t See - by John Pilger

A powerful and timely investigation into the media’s role in war, tracing the history of embedded and independent reporting from the carnage of World War One to the destruction of Hiroshima, and from the invasion of Vietnam to the current war in Afghanistan and disaster in Iraq.

As weapons and propaganda become even more sophisticated, the nature of war is developing into an electronic battlefield in which journalists play a key role, and civilians are the victims. But who is the real enemy?

John Pilger says in the film: “We journalists… have to be brave enough to defy those who seek our collusion in selling their latest bloody adventure in someone else’s country… That means always challenging the official story, however patriotic that story may appear, however seductive and insidious it is.

For propaganda relies on us in the media to aim its deceptions not at a far away country but at you at home… In this age of endless imperial war, the lives of countless men, women and children depend on the truth or their blood is on us… Those whose job it is to keep the record straight ought to be the voice of people, not power.”

..is slightly better quality than this one:

(Both links are in comments below)

The originally posted link/video was cancelled on youtube before I could watch it.
I couldn't find it anywhere (netflix, youtube search, google search), aside from purchasing the DVD.
However, the youtube links from below and in this comment work fine (??wierd??), as of now...

Maybe Darthmount Films won't find them either.

I just downloaded the film from that link just a few moments ago. It was good, I enjoyed the documentary, I did find another one here

Look at this Bryan Whitman dude at 1:20 - Asst Defense Secretary

Watch his face as he answers the questions. Classic sociopath. Classic classic classic.

I wouldn't trust this guy any farther than I could throw him.

will watch later

Watched this documentary over

Watched this documentary over a year ago. It is really informative and well thought out though and I remember recommending it to friends at the time.

If you want to see a newer doc about how the USA drones are perceived abroad then watch this 30 min doc by the BBC...

Bookmarked for later viewing. I have been waiting for this

final version to come out for some time now. Many thanks for posting, go213mph and frontpaging, mods!

Pilger is a great documentarian.

I'm not a fan of his socialist politics, but he is a damn good journalist.

This is a good documentary, and I recommend another documentary of his entitled 'Vietnam: The Quiet Mutiny' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIbiVCvdqi8

Great post. Now we have to send this far beyond the DailyPaul.

Most on this site know the truth about this stuff already.

Send a copy to the war-mongering RNC.

Establishment republicans make me sick, and there were plenty of them in this film.

Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Murdoch etc.

The blood of millions of innocents are on their hands.

That piece of shit Sean Hannity should strap on a gun and head over there himself to kill Arabs instead of sitting in his safe, posh studio at FOX and advocating sending our kids over there to do the killing for him.

Burn in hell Hannity.

Excellent film!

MANY thanks for posting this!

thank you

That was a great report. John Pilger says "but the people at home can only come to their own conclusion if they are given all the facts." Then when he interviews Julian Assange, Julian says, "what I see is this vast sprawling estate traditionally called the military industrial complex, this sprawling estate is growing uncontrollably. This is not a sophisticated conspiracy theory from the top. This is a vast movement of self interests" again John puts it well. "So what your saying is that money and money making is almost at the center of war and is almost self perpetuating."

Homeland security statement: patriotism is now considered terrorism.
I love www.isidewith.com shared it with everyone I know. If anything they realize its not just a red and blue idiot running for reelection.
