The Public School Nightmare, by John Gatto(2 Time NY Teacher of the Year)
Here is the truth about our education system. Go Ron Paul!
This article is by John Taylor Gatto. (Two time NY Teacher of the Year winner)
Sample:
So the world got compulsion schooling at the end of a state bayonet for the first time in human history; modern forced schooling started in Prussia in 1819 with a clear vision of what centralized schools could deliver:
Obedient soldiers to the army; Obedient workers to the mines; Well subordinated civil servants to government; Well subordinated clerks to industry Citizens who thought alike about major issues.
Schools should create an artificial national consensus on matters that had been worked out in advance by leading German families and the head of institutions. Schools should create unity among all the German states, eventually unifying them into Greater Prussia.
Prussian industry boomed from the beginning. She was successful in warfare and her reputation in international affairs was very high. Twenty-six years after this form of schooling began, the King of Prussia was invited to North America to determine the boundary between the United States and Canada.

John Taylor Gatto is one of my heroes!
I've known John Taylor Gatto for years and had him speak at a couple of educational conferences that I sponsored. His next book will be as good as his past ones. It is due to the publisher very soon. I'd love to leak the title but promised I wouldn't do so. Suffice to say it will be attention getting and very timely!
John would make a fantastic "educational szar"! Oh, I forgot...we're doing away with that department. Well, he could orchestrate its demise and help us get back to true learning rather than the "teaching" that goes on in mass, compulary, government schools today.
"What have you done for Ron Paul today"?
"What have you done for Ron Paul today"?
Simply amazing
For years I thought something was wrong with me because I hated my public school education, even though I attended some of the best in NYC. I hated history the most, often getting lowered marks for essays that differed from the viewpoints of the teachers. Everything started to change last year when I learned about Ron Paul and read this book called Lies My Teacher Told Me by James Loewen. I am now falling in love with history for the first time and learning about how past decisions affect the present. I highly support the abolition of the Dept of Education. I applaud parents who choose to homeschool their children and seek healthy alternatives to public school education. I cannot wait to read through every book mentioned in this post. Thank you!
A must read
Highly recommended book four stars !
Gatto and Iserbyt
Gatto has always been a favorite of mine.
From my archives in *1997*:
Gatto said it takes 100 hours to teach a ready and willing student all they need in literacy and numeracy. The rest of the time is filler / general
knowledge / specialist knowledge.
Obviously, our schools aren't even spending that 100 hours in 12-16 years of "skool".
Another favorite of mine is Charlotte Iserbyt. Her book can be downloaded for free as a *.pdf: http://www.deliberatedumbingdown.com
Note: Charlotte is also an RP supporter and broadcaster on http://www.rprradio.com/ with her segment on American Deception on Saturdays 6pm - 8pm CST
Charlotte's related political site is http://www.americandeception.com.
Charlotte Thomson Iserbeyt
was just interviewed by a friend of mine for the friend's magazine www.newcorporatebody.com
Not sure if the new interview is up yet-but check it out. Vendana Shiva and John Perkins have also been interviews by her. One stop shopping (for free).
Charlotte's work is also breathtaking in it's scope.
You can also read her book for free at the site above
www.deliberatedumbingdown.com
She had a dept of ed/state position with the Reagan administration, and blew the whistle when she realized what was going on. Her book is 'a paper trail'.
Stunning. If you have anyone who is remotely panicked about RP's mention of the dept of ed being abolished, send them to Charlotte and John Gatto!!! You cannot think the same after reading their work.
Agreed.
Here is the link to The Underground History of American Education. One of the top 5 books I have ever read. It is a large book-worth every minute of your time. By 'modern education',btw,he means the last 150 yrs. Every American needs to know the background,IMHO.

Exactly On Point
Great understanding of what exactly we're up against! Beehive mentality. This is why people are so easily influenced by OM.
I highly recommend
