"On January 12th, the Maricopa County Republican Committee held their 2013 Statutory meeting held at the Church for the Nations, in Phoenix, AZ. Maricopa County republicans gathered to cast their votes for county executive positions, bylaw amendments and proposed resolutions. Among the resolutions voted for, Liberty republicans worked to introduce a resolution from the floor of the MCRC. Due to the MCRC Rule# 7 which:
required resolutions submitted from the floor to meet the requirements of 1. “it is sponsored by a minimum of one hundred (100) PCs, representing at least six (6) Districts.” 2. “must be presented in writing to the Resolutions Committee at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the Resolution Committee’s report” 3. “shall be submitted in sufficient copies for each voting member present to receive a copy.”
Liberty PCs worked quickly to gather the required signatures that equated to almost 200 signatures and more than enough representing districts. Once the resolution was read to the body of the MCRC, a standing ovation was received by the majority of the attendees. Surprisingly, there was a little resistance concerning the strong wording of the resolution. I jokingly commented that when people say “I believe in the 2nd Amendment but, (insert compromise), sounded like people who say, “I am not racist, BUT (insert racist comment). The results of the resolutions was 87.07% in favor of the resolution which also was the highest number of votes."
