teaching about atmospheric pressure is like trying to explain to a fish that it is wet.

more fun stuff.

I think the pressure could be amplified with.......

a larger piece of pvc at one end. It looks like what he is using is 1 1/2" i.d. What if this had a foot long tank on one end, with say, a 6" i.d. making up the tank.

Anyone know how it would effect the velocity?

Thats a good teacher,

he had my attention.

Now I know what to do with all the used golf balls I find...

There are many practical applications for this effect.

I own a 1966 Cadillac Eldorado with Level Ride. The air pump uses this principle. There are no belts or electrical connections, only two hoses. One to the base of the carburetor and one to the top of the air cleaner. The high and low atmospheric pressures operate a piston that pumps the air into the system! 47 years and still functioning!
Appearanty, this design was far too simple and reliable for auto makers to continue its use...

Folks, there will be no take 2. Watch closely. Don't blink!

It is important to take science seriously. You must pay attention.

I will not do this for you twice.

Anatoli Bugorski

Particle accelerator accident

As a researcher at the Institute for High Energy Physics in Protvino, Bugorski used to work with the largest Soviet particle accelerator, the U-70 synchrotron.[2] On July 13, 1978, Bugorski was checking a malfunctioning piece of equipment when an accident occurred due to failed safety mechanisms. Bugorski was leaning over the piece of equipment when he stuck his head in the part through which the proton beam was running. Reportedly, he saw a flash "brighter than a thousand suns," but did not feel any pain.[1]
[edit]After the accident

The left half of Bugorski's face swelled up beyond recognition, and over the next several days, started peeling off, revealing the path that the proton beam (moving near the speed of light) had burned through parts of his face, his bone, and the brain tissue underneath. As it was believed that he had received far in excess of the radiation dose that would normally kill a person, Bugorski was taken to a clinic in Moscow where the doctors could observe his expected demise. However, Bugorski survived and even completed his Ph.D. There was virtually no damage to his intellectual capacity, but the fatigue of mental work increased markedly.[2] Bugorski completely lost hearing in the left ear and only a constant, unpleasant internal noise remained. The left half of his face was paralyzed, due to the destruction of nerves.[1] He was able to function well, except for the fact that he had occasional complex partial seizures and rare tonic-clonic seizures.

Love the way the students are clapping

like he's performing magic. Awesome teacher. Had none-zip-like him. Only class I ever fell asleep in was geology. Should have gone the physics route LOL

Should take some cues from this guy. Imo students have to be engaged in the lesson. Well done!!

Makes you think twice about allowing other countries beat us.

Even events that... win or lose... seem completely harmless... may lead to...

Well, I suggest you learn for yourself. Whether you watch this film, or learn it some other way, dismiss what seems harmless fun at your own peril.

Many thanks to emalvini, DailyPaul member for bringing the dangers of this game to my attention. Clearly some will suggest we ban it. Other, that we regulate it. Yet others, may insist we incarcerate those caught playing it... Perhaps, require bonding & insurance before starting it. As for me, I will say no more. I will leave it to others, wiser than me to handle this menace.
