The Daily Paul Needs Your Help. Fundraiser 64% Complete

The Daily Paul turns six years old on January 19th. I registered the domain on on that date, 2007, and the first post went up two days later. After two presidential elections, the DP remains an important online center of the Liberty movement. I loathe asking for money, but it has become critical.

Only shortly after the site became fun again (it wasn't much fun for me during the election season), things have started to break down. Ghosts are haunting the machine. People are having problems voting on posts and comments, and returning comments to certain users. The errors are random and hard to reproduce. Yesterday we were hit again with an erroneous malware alert from Google that suspended traffic and caused ad revenue to plummet. Big Mike said it's like the site has leprosy - everything is falling apart!

Like a car or a house, the website needs maintenance and repair, and I'm asking for your help to do that.

How you can help:

I'd appreicate it if you'd include your username, but that is up to you.

  • Bitcoin:
Frankly, I don't know how to use Bitcoin very well, but thanks to haze and rpcongress, I'm learning a lot fast. Here is an address you can use to send some bits:
  • 16oZXSGAcDrSbZeBnSu84w5UWwbLtZsBms

If anything shows up in that wallet, It'll help me in my education. If someone can educate me on how better to receive bits, please post it in the comments below, or use the contact form.

It is impossible to know what the future holds, but I have a feeling that 2013 is going to be a big year for us, and the 2014 elections are just around the corner.

Thank you all for your love support of this community. Here is to another 6 years going forward.

    In deepest gratitude and love,

    Michael

    Did the deadline change?

If so, there is no excuse for anyone posting and commenting on this site not to chip in something.

Bump to get this thing done in a week, not a month.

A week to raise $9,000. The DP IS worth it.

Besides, we need this bandwidth for other stuff!

    Michael Nystrom's picture

    56% bump, from all sources:

    bitcoin - 890.02
    chipin - 8,506.61
    mail - 1,850.00

    $11,246.61

The bitcoin exchange rate went up. They're worth over $19 now, vs. about $15 when this started.

    Thank you everyone.

    Hold those bitcoins

as long as you can, Michael, or at least some of them. There is a lot of upward price pressure which I expect to only increase.

As you may have heard the rate of bitcoins coming into circulation recently cut in half from about 7,200 per day to 3,600. At the same time more and more people are learning about Bitcoin worldwide...

It's pretty easy to guess the likely effect. Of course, there is downside risk too. People could suddenly lose faith in Bitcoin working for whatever reason. However, after all this time that hasn't happened so you be the judge.

In other news central banks around the world continue to do the exact opposite with their currencies ;)

Just got the Thank You card -

Just got the Thank You card - It was really nice of you but you did not have to. Thanks for all you do in providing a forum for liberty and of course Ron Paul.

    Happy Birthday to Me,

    Happy Birthday to Me,

    Happy Birthday Daily Paul...

    Happy Birthday from Jeff!
    ------------
I asked my husband a couple of weeks ago if I could have a picture next to my posts in support of the fundraiser...since he is the "bread winner." He said $60 a year for a picture?...(I already have the $5 a month sub) …but he didn't say no.

So, I asked again tonight after reading Michael's Post http://www.dailypaul.com/272915/thank-you-from-the-daily-pau... . See, the DP might be going away sooner rather than later...

    Here is the answer:

    "Happy Birthday!
    Love, Jeff"

I just got an early Birthday Present from my Husband to Me for a Premium Daily Paul Subscription! So you now will see a picture of "bear" as in Pookie Bear (may she rest in peace).

    An excellent trade...

I just dumped my Blockbuster Membership for a monthly $10 subscription at the DP. I'd call that an excellent trade.

    SteveMT's picture

Yup. Equivalent to trading in fiat for gold.

    Good deal.

    Hope the coin got there

sent it last Saturday. Return address should be from NH.

If not, then short of physically handing it to you I don't know how else to donate (I do not use online payments, credit/debit cards, or checks).

A signature used to be here!

    Yes, it did!

    Thank you.

    oh good

Sorry, I just get a little paranoid because I remember all the stories I'd hear from my dad about how some letter carriers get a little "curious" with peoples' mail.

I'll be in back in town next weekend, I'm going to give one of my buddies some money to write a check to you.

    Expect another 50-100.

    Thank you Brian

(Even though I called BS on you - ha ha ha. Hope you don't demand your contribution back as a result, lol.)

    Michael,

I Hope that you didn't call B.S. on ME! The night that I wrote that a check was on the way, I wrote the check, adressed the envelope, put my return address on.. and as I was out of stamps I left it on my desk. Well if your desk looks anything like my desk it promply got buried under other papers. To my horror.. I CLEANED! (Not like me at all) and there it was ! My first thought was " Michael thinks I was "Blowing Smoke". to make myself look good to my fellow Paulers ", then, "I am such a dumbass, in addition to also being a slob"

Going to the P.O. tomorrow and the check will really be in the mail, even tho in my mind and heart you already had my little check in your Liberty Loving hands for some days.

P.S. Its made out to you .

    Woot!

We're not going to make it.

    Sad.

It's really sad that the economy is hurting all of us, and most of us cannot contribute as much as we would have liked. Some of us did the best we could, under the circumstances. Others of us continue to post and comment without regard to our host's needs to keep them free to post and comment on this site.

It's sad to see how many DPers are avoiding this thread, yet continue to comment from time to time. They still don't seem to understand that there's no such thing as free lunch, unless you are homeless. This is like a home for us and if we lose it, there will be no more free lunches served here.

Mistakes were made, Michael. You know it, and it has cost you. What you do about it, if anything, is up to you. I mean no offense by that and I apologize, if I am out of line. But, we lost a lot of good people BEFORE Tampa, as well as after.

For those of us still here, it's time to chip in $10, $15, $20 or more, if you haven't done so already. Yes, it hurts but, do it to keep the R3VOLution alive and well.
