The Daily Paul Needs Your Help. Fundraiser 64% Complete

The Daily Paul turns six years old on January 19th. I registered the domain on on that date, 2007, and the first post went up two days later. After two presidential elections, the DP remains an important online center of the Liberty movement. I loathe asking for money, but it has become critical.

Only shortly after the site became fun again (it wasn't much fun for me during the election season), things have started to break down. Ghosts are haunting the machine. People are having problems voting on posts and comments, and returning comments to certain users. The errors are random and hard to reproduce. Yesterday we were hit again with an erroneous malware alert from Google that suspended traffic and caused ad revenue to plummet. Big Mike said it's like the site has leprosy - everything is falling apart!

Like a car or a house, the website needs maintenance and repair, and I'm asking for your help to do that.

How you can help:

I'd appreicate it if you'd include your username, but that is up to you.

  • Bitcoin:
Frankly, I don't know how to use Bitcoin very well, but thanks to haze and rpcongress, I'm learning a lot fast. Here is an address you can use to send some bits:
  • 16oZXSGAcDrSbZeBnSu84w5UWwbLtZsBms

If anything shows up in that wallet, It'll help me in my education. If someone can educate me on how better to receive bits, please post it in the comments below, or use the contact form.

It is impossible to know what the future holds, but I have a feeling that 2013 is going to be a big year for us, and the 2014 elections are just around the corner.

Thank you all for your love support of this community. Here is to another 6 years going forward.

    In deepest gratitude and love,

    Well Then

stop bitching and start your own site if you can do better. GEEEZ

IF you like the site then donate.

He asked for money and I simply explained why I wouldn't give it.

Any businessman would want to know why his customers would choose not to support him. I'm doing him a service by letting him know why I won't support the site. I would hope that he wants to attract more users to the site and I think it's good for our cause if he does, but I think the cluttered and dated look of the site is a problem as is his choice to use a platform that doesn't make it easy for users to post images, or embed videos.

If you like what he's done then by all means support it, but I don't see why you should throw attitude my way for trying to help the guy out.

    You Have an Odd Way

Of being helpful. If I don't like the way someone does business then I GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO SHOP!

Good luck in your fund raising.

Hi Michael, have just dropped some money into the account courtesy of Pay Pal. Love the site, have had my home page camped out on your website for about a year now. A brilliant conduit to getting some decent news items. Keep up the good work.

    Glad to have you here.

    Keep it up Michael!

I think this is the best resource for finding truthful/unbiased information in a snap. Well, if it's biased, it's bias is Liberty. Sure I feel I need to filter some of the info I read, but all-in-all, I would feel lost with out it. I am now a premium subscriber. Keep up the great work Michael: I know it's a great effort.

I wonder what's up with the chip in not updating?

Michael, just a suggestion, you may want to extend the chipin into Feb..

A lot of folks are between pay periods and may not be able to donate.

I'll make another donation after I pay my bills on the 1st.

    Takes about 5 minutes.

    Mine updated in 3

    Jefferson - I don't understand that either

It updates on my laptop, but not on my desktop. I don't know why.

The Chipin page seems to be updating properly:

So far we're 20% of the way there, after 4 days, I think. Pretty good progress! But at your suggestion I did extend the end date until the 8th.

    So far raised $4,037.50 of $20,000 / 105 contributors

Each time I'm so amazed and impressed with how this community comes through.

seems to be updating now. 165 members out of thousands. That's pretty weak. I guess people think that magical elves keep things running behind the scenes.
I have half a mind to post a glimpse of the hour by hour, and minute by minute adjustments that take place that no one sees.
Sorry you're not getting better response.

    Could You Extend This Longer

I am going to send some right away but I could send more if you kept this going longer. Of course I guess we can send money anytime really can't we? Tax season is upon us ya know. Theft time for the worker bees. Anyway, thanks for all you do and I will send what I can.

Just keep the ship afloat there

and I'm pretty sure that will continue. Simple supply demand thing. You sell truth here Micheal and it's as simple as that. Truth is at a premium in this country.

    I don't know

how internet advertisement works. If I click an advertisement does that get Michael money? Or do I have to purchase something from the site I go to?

If clicking gets him money, lets have a clickbomb.

    I think I'd rather

have root canal but if you wanna sit there and click click click you've got the right to.

    I think

Google has a way of sniffing out that kind of activity. It may cause unintended consequences. If it were that easy, we'd have made MN and crew billionaires by now....;)

    Bitcoin on the way!

I just sent you a small BTC donation.
Since you asked, I recommend using easywallet.org for transactions and if you want to exchange your BTC for FRN's use bitfloor.com.

Thanks for the great website Michael.

$25USD I come here for some wide-awake views, questions, and opinions, and the truth, if we can find it.

My check is in the mail :)

It's not much ($25.00), but I'll set aside what I can for my favorite site :)

    More than happy to contribute

Any time that you need help funding this invaluable site Michael, I am more than happy to help ! Keep up the great work!!

    A Thought

Michael, you should temporarily redirect the front page with something resembling a "Server Not Found Page" (e.g. http://blahblahblahblahblahblah.com)

...with a little text and link that says,

"Psyche! The Daily Paul remains alive for now. But if this scared the poop out of you, then please consider donating or purchasing some cool swag."

Just bought $50 of some cool swag, myself. Too bad that won't show on the chip-in counter.

Bitcoin - I am so happy you're accepting it

I was going to write a very snarky comment about "The minute you accept Bitcoin, I'll donate..." But I didn't have to!

I am very pleased to see you're accepting BTC! Next step is a donate button on your site! ;)

    Best wishes!

    Is there some sort of

Is there some sort of free-rice application that will let us contribute money in a way other than payment? Free rice is a website where you answer simple questions and they donate 10 grains of rice or whatever to starvation somewhere. Is there a site where I can stare at a page of ads for a minute and that donates money?

Dear Michael, Thank you for everything you're doing

    Dear Michael,

Thank you for everything you're doing to bring this support to the voices of Liberty.

I have a bit of good news and a bit of annoyance for you.

    Good news first:

I'm willing to upgrade from my current premium subscriber membership (you know which one ;) up to the 50 bucks a month.

    Now the bit of annoyance:

Meh. I just hit a PayPal error message asking me to contact the site admin...

Please, let's fix this. Let me know what I missed. Waiting for your PM.

Note: the chipin page worked just fine using the same PayPal account on my end, though. 'HTH.

    You've got my support!

I visit and read the Daily Paul every day. It is my pleasure to donate to such a fine purveyor of liberty.

    I've bookmarked your Amazon link

for purchases from now on and will be making a contribution this weekend. This site has lead so many liberty minded people together, I would hate to see it go down because of funding. So with that I say, thank you, to the people who contribute to the DailyPaul, Michael and his team who keep it running.

Great idea to bookmark the Amazon link - will do the same!
