Rand Paul To Hammer Hillary Clinton On Benghazi: 'It Was A Career-Ending Mistake'

TEL AVIV — As he prepares to make his debut on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Rand Paul says he plans on grilling Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the attacks that killed four Americans at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, when she testifies at his first committee next week.

"I think she has to accept responsibility for Benghazi," Paul told Business Insider during his recent trip to Israel. "That's the problem with government — government is anonymous and so no one is accountable. The reason you want somebody to be accountable is that you don't want someone to make that decision again."

"She needs to be held accountable for it, and I think she needs to answer questions for it," he said.

Paul added that he plans on demanding Clinton explain what she knew about the deteriorating security situation in Libya and provide details about who denied requests for additional security personnel at the consulate in Benghazi.

"In government, there is usually an incentive to overspend when it comes to security," he said. "You're in charge of security in Benghazi and someone asks you for a 16-person detail — and the security people on the ground in Libya are asking you for it — it's impossible to say no. So how did someone possibly say no to that security? That's an incredible ineptness."

"It was an enormous mistake," he added. "It was a career-ending mistake, I think."

President Paul!

President Paul!

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

The thing with Rand is that

The thing with Rand is that he never says what his political views are, he just spews bullish t. This is what people like to hear, so Rand could slip in and do what Ron has been saying to do quietly.

"Believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear." - Benjamin Franklin

Smart Move

Good politics. Destroy her now!

Rand should know

about career ending mistakes....oh, right, his "career" is booming since he screwed over his dad and started kissing GOP a$$.

Oh dear! You mean the 25

Oh dear! You mean the 25 puritins from my state Libertarian party convention aren't going to be backing Rand Paul because they are too stupid to understand that politics is a game you have to play to win?

What ever are we going to do? The rest of us who went out and became delegates and took over our party by getting our hands dirty and telling 90 year old neocon dipshits what they wanted to hear might have to do all the work... again.

Don't worry, im sure the Rand haters will be here to call us traitors, sell outs, Neocon shills and fake libertarians all along the way while we try to back our nation away from an Orwelleon nightmare... because we weren't "pure" enough for them.

Why don't you do Ron a favor and let him decide if his child has betrayed him or not? Because the seem to get along pretty well to me.

Funny how Ron Paul

didn't find the need to "play politics" and endorse Rombama. Wonder why? Is he too stupid? Is he so clueless in "strategy"? Does he not know "how the game is played"? Was he too "PURE" to endorse "the "nominee"?? It's painfully obvious that a lot of you who are bragging about "getting hands dirty" "working" with the Neocons are nothing but GOP tools and Neocons.

Thank you for your hard work on behalf of Liberty

I appreciate the sacrifices you have made. Those that I yet need to make. Thank you.

When I see "Rand Paul To Hammer Hillary Clinton..."

When I see "Rand Paul To Hammer Hillary Clinton..." it paints a picture in my mind that is very frightening.

Resist the temptation to feed the trolls.

The only relevant questions

are who ordered our government to stand down while Americans were being slaughtered? Why were people who decided to help relieved of command?

Ron was the messenger who

Ron was the messenger who awoke the nation. Rand is the one with the political will to win. When he runs, he will have my district's full support, and most of those around me. We have taken our party over and are putting up liberty candidates for state rep and other positions.

The 2016 presidential race

The 2016 presidential race will be fun with this floating around.

End The Fed!

No one Hates Rand Paul, but...

(Is the DP a GOP forum now? I didn't get that memo.)

He is doing NOTHING about the Patriot Act, the NDAA Bill, the Drones over our Skies, the ACTS OF WAR against foreign nations in the form of Sanctions...

I linked an interview with Lew Rockwell pointing out the same FACTS - and it got down-voted, without anyone explaining WHY they pledge their support for Rand.

To me that means that people support him MOSTLY because he's Ron Paul's son. That's called Nepotism. It's part of what's wrong in politics.

Rand wants to run for president. (Ok....he wants power)
Rand is attacking hillary clinton. (Ok, every republican does that)
Rand appeases Israel with a visit. (More cow-towing to Israel? Like every politician)
Rand supported Romney, who would make ZERO CHANGES to the Federal Reserve.
AND he supported the NDAA Bill as it was written with the Indefinite detention section.

How does a Rand Paul supporter justify those points? Especially the one about the FED, the benchmark of RON PAUL'S CAREER????

I've been trying to engage the Rand Paul crowd in an honest discussion.
Where are all these "up votes" without commentary coming from?

Please stop pledging blind support for someone who doesn't have a RECORD to justify it.
That's what this whole movement is supposed to be about: ACCOUNTABILITY.

Oh. Good luck getting that

Oh. Good luck getting that Libertarian in office then.

He's not God.

He can't change all of these things on his own overnight. His father couldn't stop all of this horrible legislation after nearly 30 years, so how can you expect Rand to do it? He's taking a different approach, so let's see how it plays out before attacking him.

You're badly mistaken

He is doing NOTHING about the Patriot Act, the NDAA Bill, the Drones over our Skies

Rand has sponsored many bills to limit federal police powers. For example:

S.1074 A bill to remove the extension of the sunset date for section 215 of the USA PATRIOT Act.

If you don't know about section 215:

S.3287 Prohibits a person or entity acting under the authority of (or funded in whole or in part by) the federal government from using a drone to gather evidence or other information pertaining to criminal conduct or conduct in violation of a statute or regulation except to the extent authorized in a warrant satisfying the requirements of the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.

S.1075 A bill to provide judicial review of National Security Letters.

S.1076 A bill to modify the roving wiretap authority of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978.

S.1077 A bill to require judicial review of Suspicious Activity Reports.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

...and what are YOU doing

about the NDAA, the Patriot act, drones, and acts of war?
Or are you waiting for someone in gubberment to do it for you?

Dear Lord,

please, I entreat you, let this be a career ending "mistake" for Ms Clinton.
Please do not allow this woman to unleash her particular brand of evil on the world in 2016.
I pray that you guide Rand Paul, and give him the strength and wisdom
needed to remove this woman from public office and positions of power over peoples lives forever.

Good for Rand.

Good move against his most likely opponent in 2016.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

I have a strong Feeling

They'll run with Cuomo.

That would be a strong ticket.
KY and Michigan would be in the bag.

It was worse than a mistake

it was probably a false flag, trying to garner support for a full-blown invasion of Libya.

it was an 80 man or more detail team that prepared weeks in advance.
goons from the United arab emirates , qatar, saudi, and so on , highly trained assassins , flown in to murder american ambassadors and others.

who gave the orders for reduced security , probably israeli interest groups pressured the state dept , Hillary had to have known

also who gave the israeli interest groups the orders, who else , the neo-con faction within the united states, aslo good ol' BIBI nuttinyahoo and others,

WHY YOU ASK , not for a full blown invasion of libya thats just absurd

the only good thing about this president is that he does not do Israel's bidding, and CHUCK HAGEL IS AN AMERICAN SENATOR NOT AN ISRAELI SENATOR , PER CHUCK HAGEL HIMSELF !!

"He's this eccentric Ghandi-Like figure that you cant touch with the normal bribes that people respond to."

Agree - the most important question for her would be

why we were even there. The Benghazi location went from "embassy" to "consulate" to "mission". Who leased the properties, what were they really used for?

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know Peace." - Jimi Hendrix

What do you want to bet McCain backs Clinton on Benghazi?

That old fart will try to throw money at the problem and tell her to go away and come back with better news next year.

I know there is a lot of Rand

I know there is a lot of Rand haters but i think he has been doing a great job.

Why do you support Rand Paul?

It's a simple question.

And I'd like to see a long, thorough, explanation on the subject.

Ron Paul spent his career EARNING support by building a RECORD of liberty-supporting votes.
The same can't be said about Rand.

In fact, not only has he NOT built a liberty-loving Record, he's taken some steps that suggest the opposite, that he supports the removal of SOME freedoms in favor of the illusion of security:

Drones, NDAA, Mitt Romney Supporter, Israel Appeaser...

So - you're right - it WOULD BE CHILDISH to "hate" him just because he supported Romney - But that's not the case I'm making against Rand Paul - it's a bit more in-depth than that.

Who will have this discussion?
