Gun Control Executive Order No. 3Submitted by LapHog on Wed, 01/16/2013 - 15:05
To state the obvious, all of the King's decrees on guns are egregious. That's as kindly as it can be said.
However, the one that stood out to me above all others for various reasons is number 3:
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
This is euphemistic political speak (but I repeat myself) for either bribery or blackmail, or a combination of both, with federal funds as the leverage.
Please raise your hand if you know any local- or state-level departments turning down Federal bribes/extortion/dictates? Especially law enforcement (a few good Sheriffs notwithstanding).
This isn't going to end at merely 'background check' information-sharing. The Feds will buy -- with your stolen money -- everything they can, including cooperation on the enforcement of tyrannical measures such as the 23 announced today.
Thus, to me, the 3rd of the King's decrees today, in particular, strikes as the worst, and represents merely the tip of the iceberg.
It always comes down to money. Follow it.
