Rand Paul: Iron Domes for White House, Capitol and Major US Cities!

http://www.buzzfeed.com/rosiegray/rand-paul-favors-an-iron-d...

Senator Rand Paul Wednesday said there was "no reason" the United States shouldn't have its own version of Israel's Iron Dome to defend the homeland from missile attacks.

"I saw presentations of the Iron Dome and it was very impressive," Paul said in a conference call with reporters fresh off a weeklong trip to Israel and Jordan. Paul added that he is "absolutely in favor of it."

"There's no reason why our White House, our Capitol, and major cities shouldn't have missile defense," Paul said, after referencing the 9/11 attacks.

Just one Dome

Just one Dome over DC and the White House. Tell them they have 1 week of air and we will not let them out until they've reduced the budget to spend only the money they have. The also have to make a resolution on pork spending and resolution that prevent executive deployment of the troops for "military aid" missions. They also have to bring our troops home now.

My guess is they would all suffocate...

Promoting

American defense without promoting the bombing of another country, that sounds like a step in the right direction. One some of the 'I don't like Dr. Paul's foreign policy' group could get behind. It sounds like a nice stump speech. Bring the troops home and we'll blast the bastards with our death lasers if they roll on us! Not exactly what I would prefer, but more palatable for the mainstream voter no doubt.

Last people on Earth

The people that infest Washington are the last people on Earth I'd want to have protected.

No King but Jesus, no President but Ron Paul

Huh?

Isn't "Iron Dome" designed for Scuds and battlefield rockets?
Don't we already have Patriot, THAAD, etc. for that?
None of those could hit the US, from where? You'd need ICBMs to hit the US. What do we have for them?

I'm thinking we need...

...a Liberty dome for us about now.

Outrage!!!

Why the HELL should DC, whose activities have been and are responsible for most of the world's--and our country's--woes and misery, get first dibs on missile protection.

After all of the military aggression launched from the regime headquartered there, shouldn't any missiles launched against them be regarded as "blowback"?

With their horrid gun control proposals and "executive orders", they won't even allow us to defend ourselves against common street thugs, and they want US to support a multi-billion dollar missile defence for THEM?

You must be KIDDING!

Missile "defense" for DC?

Given the boondoggling of weapons systems, which often turn out to be expensive failures even after the expenditure of billions of $$$$$, and given the insolvency of the DC regime that is hopelessly overextended, and that the government has been, and is, already spending far too much money that it doesn't have...

WE CAN'T AFFORD IT!

Closing down military and CIA installations overseas, firmly establishing an America First, anti-intervention, and free trade foreign policy, terminating foreign aid, and other such meddling, will provide all of the protection from terrorism that we need.

This is something I'll get

This is something I'll get behind, assuming we end foreign interventionism! Because we're trying to convert the neocon mindset, where these people have been mentally trained to think it's okay to spread peace with bombs and there's no consequences for our actions.

I usually have no problem converting people from this mindset. When I speak to a typical Republican on this, I start by touching up on US-Middle East history, slamming foreign aid, it's a waste of money to be over there...this is just another point I can use. This would cost pennies related to the budget and it's yet another way to get these neocons on the right track to Liberty.

That's one heck of an assumption

You could argue about whether it's worth the money...

...but domestic deployment of Iron Dome or any other missile defense system is entirely compatible with non-interventionism.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

This is a good idea, actually.

this is a perfect way to illustrate military DEFENSE rather than OFFENSE.

even for those of you who think 9/11 was a false flag, imagine how much easier it would be to convince people of that fact if you could point to New York's missile defense capabilities as proof that it would've been easy to stop the plane from coming in!

of course I personally believe the blowback theory, and in any event there is definite blowback out there over all our interventions overseas that doesn't just disappear tomorrow if we pull out everywhere, there's still a ton of people who are extremely pissed at us for killing their friends and loved ones and would love to get revenge. I understand why, but we need a strong defense against such things... the best defense is a good defense, period.

for those complaining about the money being spent, we can cut foreign aid, stop all the money being spent on military adventures overseas, and use that money instead for defense here at home. in a perfect constitutional world, the Federal Government would've apportioned a tax between the states for such a project long ago to fulfill its constitutional duties of National Defense.

realize that this isn't something Rand will likely accomplish as a senator. this is a presidential platform suggestion here, folks, so don't treat it in a vacuum, treat it as part of a larger platform (imagine him being asked in a debate about it, when the financial issue comes up he'll say it can be paid for by redirecting all the wasteful offensive and foreign aid spending we've been doing) and it's both politically smart in that it will help him cruise through the primaries with an IRON clad defense against those who say he's weak on defense (puns all around), and it's 100% constitutional. the only thing not constitutional about it is that the funds will come from income taxes but since we haven't dealt with that pesky little 16th amendment yet, it'll have to do.

those who don't want us to have such missile defense actually sound like those who don't want people to have AR-15's... complaining about why we would need such a strong defense, etc etc.

waste of money...as if we

waste of money...as if we have any.

the idiots in washington have Filet Mignon appetites and NOT EVEN a Ramen Noodle budget.

let's put an iron dome around the whole DC

and throw away the key

I'd rather there was a steel

I'd rather there was a steel cage around Washington.

If politicians minded their own stinking business

If politicians minded their own stinking business and abided by the Constitution, there would be no need for an 'iron dome'.

Aside from being tyrants who police the world, this nation will now appear to be forever an iron fist, rather than the beacon of Liberty, trust and trade.

I do not like this one bit. I don't care if it is Rand or anybody else. Imo, this is preparation to protect from blowback from the continued harm these pathetic elitists plan to do.

HR347 is bad enough.. good luck redressing your grievances if this is carried out.

For those thinking this is good, think again.

I want my money back.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Would rather see money spent overseas or on domestic drones

I think what Rand is doing is retargeting offensive money to truly defensive systems.

This is not all bad.

You can't just pick up and move this stuff to defend the UK or Europe, it stays here.

You can't use it for domestic spying, it has a specific defensive purpose.

.

Keep in mind

that Rand Paul is not Ron Paul.

After 9/11, Ron Paul suggested to stop USA visas to muslims instead of wasting $trilions on nations building of the same muslim countries.

Rand is suggesting to build Dome INSTEAD of wasting money on nations building and foreign aid. Israeli PM had basically agreed with Rand that all US aid should be cut.

Is This Authorization In The Constitution?

Yea, sure! Lets use more taxpayer money..We're already paying too much to a criminal government...Frigin geniuses!

Yes, national defense is

Yes, national defense is authorized by the Constitution.

Rand has lost it!

Rand was injected with militaritis bugs in Israel.
He is now officialy a Washingtonite.
An Iron Dome in the USA? Yes, we can be massivly, pathologically anxious about defense too. Defense can go so far as to destroy or paralyze oneself. It is called an autoimmune disease in medical terms.

There is no remedy for Washingtonitis.

But there is one for you and me:

SECESSION!

Rational or not, I think the

Rational or not, I think the public would get behind such a notion. Does the average voter really believe the entire world is "out to get us"?

Good for Rand. Rand is

Good for Rand. Rand is actually a small government conservative/libertarian who believes in a non interventionist foreign policy and a strong national defense here at home. Anyone who supports a more humble foreign policy should strongly support missile defense, because having strong defenses here at home prevents us from spending money on offense and keeps us out of future wars. Rand is never going to please the anarchists anyway, so speaking out in favor of national defense and against national offense is certainly a very good sign.

well we should all

do our part to save the chosen
after all, where would we be without them?

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

Really?

Some of ya'll are just begging for a reason to hate Rand. Defense is a great way to convince right wingers that we don't need so much offense. I see nothing wrong with a better defense of our home land on our own turf. Wouldn't that help ease the country's fears and support the idea of less foreign deployment, and thus less spending?

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).

As if we aren't upside down as it is and you can't get your lips

off of Rand's nuts long enough to see it. STOP SPENDING MY FUCKING MONEY AND GET OUR HOUSE IN ORDER BEFORE YOU WASTE MORE.

Know what I mean?

Your aren't going to get....

...everything you want with spending cuts. We aren't going to magically wake up in a country ready to admit that the threat of Islamic terrorism is a product of our own crappy policy. However, we can make constitutional decisions which bring our troops home and discontinue the agression we've shown which brings in the blowback. Defense in constitutional and is a reasonable way to convince the far right to abandon the foreign bases and deployments.

DEFENSE

It's when we spend money on OFFENSE is what I have a major problem with.
