GPS Devices On All Guns?

CHICAGO (CBS) – A South Side alderman is asking for City Council hearings on an unorthodox gun control measure that would allow for GPS tracking of firearms.

This won't work.

GPS devices require a battery to transmit to an antenna.
The batteries would go dead within a week sitting at the gun store or in the manufacturer's warehouse.

I guess they have to find my guns before putting GPS devices on them. Personally, I think a 1950's semi-auto rifle works just as well if not better than a new AR so means nothing to me. I'd rather have an older more reliable weapon anyway. But in any case, it wouldn't work. They'd soon be removed, reported as stolen, and then lost in the moss.
