Rand Paul slams Christie for NRA comments, Sandy aid

Today on The Laura Ingraham Show, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) gave a wide-ranging interview, during which he attacked New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for his criticism of the NRA and his grandstanding on Sandy aid, saying that they would hurt his chances during the Republican primary.

Paul claimed that Christie had “backed down” on gun rights: “You have some Republicans backing down like Christie backing down and criticizing the NRA, and I think that doesn't do any good.”

When asked by Ingraham why Christie made the comments, he responded that they were politically calculated. “I think he may be solidifying his support with Democrats in New Jersey and maybe liberal Republicans.”

Paul warned Christie that his criticism of the NRA, as well as his criticism of fellow Republicans over the Sandy relief bill, would come back to haunt him if he made a presidential run in 2016.

Chris Christie's buddy embraces the Holy Quran. Imam Mohammed Qatanani was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohammed wants Sharia Blasphemy laws in America, that will criminalize the criticism of Islam. Any free speech that mocks the religion of Islam will be considered a national security threat. He believes the criticism of Islam should be investigated by the Department of Homeland Security. He believes America should disregard the first amendment of our constitutional rights and instead practice the resemblance of Sharia Law, for the ''good'' of society.

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

"I’m intrigued and oddly impressed at how obviously Paul’s maneuvering for 2016. First the trip to Israel, then the bill to nullify any executive actions taken by Obama on guns, now this double-barreled shot at grassroots conservatives’ new bete noire. One of the things about the elder Paul that some people loved and others found off-putting was that he never seemed terribly interested in ingratiating himself with mainstream conservatives. If you’re a fan, maybe you took that as proof of principle, that he was above gladhanding political nonsense towards people foolish enough not to embrace libertarianism wholeheartedly. If you aren’t, you took it as evidence that he disdained the rank-and-file Republicans whose votes he’d need to win and wasn’t willing to bend towards some of their concerns. It’s an open question how similar Ron and Rand are on policy, but from a pure retail standpoint, Rand seems way more willing to play to the wider GOP base. The clearest example to date was him endorsing Romney last year while Ron predictably refused. But dumping on a guy who’s irritated everyone to the right of “Morning Joe” lately is another small yet effective way to do it:" ...

go Rand

Rand Paul Supports Preemptive Aggression

He supported sanctions against Iran.

"Sanctions are an act of war." -Ron Paul

He supported Romney - one of the most corrupt out there.
He voted for 2012 NDAA with the indefinite detention clause
He wants to Audit the FED, but Does he want to do anything else?
Romney would have made no changes to the FED and he supported Romney.

What has he done for the liberty movement, besides introducing bills in the Senate that he knows have no chance of being passed?

I want to see a RECORD that I can get behind,
And attacking Chris Christie adds NOTHING to his record.

Show me his full record and explain why the balance of his record demands support from the liberty movement.

eh

Rand DOES NOT support preemptive aggression per se. I agree that his views on sanctions are misguided. I think hes wrong about sanctions as does everyone else here, so perhaps hes unintentionally supporting aggression (Like many here see that sanctions are an act of war- I don't think he sees it that way though), but he gave a great speech in regards to Iran, saying that we shouldn't be so quick to go to war and he voted against the Iran resolution.

Anytime Rand talks about foreign policy he talks about being less aggressive.

Regarding the NDAA vote, that gets pretty confusing to explain, but no he did not vote for the final outcome of the bill, he voted against it. The initial vote you are referring to rand gave a response about it here:
http://www.facebook.com/notes/rand-paul/explanation-of-ndaa-...

Rand ended up opposing it:

It's a step in the right

It's a step in the right direction?

Ron would have been an instant switch. It doesn't seem the movement has that option anytime soon.

Well done

Yet I would be more impressed if it was face to face.

donvino

I am more and more impressed...

...with Rand's abilities as a politician. He's been all over the news (in a good way) for weeks now. I love it!

P.S. Christie should also be criticized heavily for his recent implementation of price controls in NJ in the wake of the hurricane, which should be a giant red flag to anyone with even the slightest interest in free markets. It's not only leftism, but dumb-dumb 1970's style, totally discredited, obviously stupid leftism.

Christie is a RINO

Christie said he supports New Jersey's gun laws including its "assault" weapons ban.

Let's make a point of letting the world know that Christie is not on the side of liberty.

Christie's brother is an executive in Goldman Sachs!

His brother surly isn't the big cheese, but he's definitely a high-ranked executive in Goldman Sachs.

Chrisite's totally an establishment figure. Jeb and Christie will be formidable candidates in 2016.

This interview is getting a lot of press for Senator Paul!

From USA Today, Politico to the Huffington Post - The more he does interviews like this the easier our job will get!

Another former republican has joined the libertarian party.

Thanks for a bump

Oh, it must be because Rand

Oh, it must be because Rand endorsed Mitt Romney, remember. So now we must forever remain closed-minded and regard anything he does as evil.

If Rand wants...

If Rand Paul wants the support of the liberty wing of the GOP, he needs to apologize for the Romney endorsement and to call for the immediate end of all support to Israel. If he did those two things, I would support him.

O brother...

...winning the support of millions of people who didn't vote for Ron Paul in 2012 is more important than winning over the small minority of Paulites who still refuse to support him. There's going to be no apology re the Romney endorsement, nor should there be: it was the right move at the time. As for Israel, he is in favor of cutting aid. If you don't think he goes far enough, that's you're problem. He's definitely not going to come out in favor of a much more aggressive reduction in the current political environment, as there are far too many pro-Israel voters in this country. He's walking a tightrope trying to advance the cause of liberty without alienating the people he needs to vote for him to make that a reality. If you can't see that...I don't know what to tell you.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

but but but

He hurted my feewings. I want him to say he's sorry and bake me some cookies too!
