Re: GUN CONTROL
Date: January 18,2013

I have received many questions and concerns from our public and YCSO staff about recent gun control issues.

As your Sheriff, I have taken an oath of office to support and uphold the Constitution of the United States, and to protect the people of Yavapai County. I take this oath seriously.

Now we have politicians that want to prevent millions of law abiding, honest Americans from owning certain firearms and magazines because of the mentally ill and violent criminal offenders.

I do not believe that extreme acts of violent criminal behavior should ever misguide a politician into enacting orders or laws that would take away Constitutional Rights and Liberties from law-abiding Americans.

As Sheriff, I refuse to participate or cooperate with any unconstitutional order that will infringe upon our 2nd amendment rights.

yeee-haaaaa!! That is MY...

...County Sheriff!! Gonna have to go talk to him tomorrow or Monday. Need to see if he'll EXPAND on that, as the CITY Council here in Yavapai's biggest (ha-ha -- almost 50K pop.) Town is having a "listen to the public" meeting next Tuesday in order to get input from the public on a "NO semi-autos allowed in Prescott" law they are thinking of drafting.

Would love to have him sign (or be with me Tue.) a statement informing them that HE is "the highest legal authority" in the County and will ARREST and have PROSECUTED any, including them, who attempt to pass or enforce and ILLEGAL ordinance....

Yikes! I had no idea! We better get the word out.

Got more details on the meeting? What time?

oh, and the meeting...

...I saw a notice pinned on the cork-board @ the Downtown Library today. All it said was "Jan. 22 @ 3pm" with zero about WHERE. Presumably in one of the "founders rooms" there in the bottom floor of the Library building??

Should have walked up the block to City Hall and asked the location, but lazy o' bastage that I am, oops...

Sweet

I wish I knew how, but someone should make a youtube compilation of these awesome Sheriffs - might goad/empower more of them into making a statement, taking a stand.
