The idea for this post is now almost 10 minutes old. Rather than trying to come up with some sort of self-righteous rant about how the decline and decay of our society must inevitably lead to a new renaissance of spiritual awakening, etc etc blah blah blah, let's try something different. Shall we?

A: Where do you see entropy in your world right now?
B: What do you think will come of it?

The peer-to-peer media is taking over

Entropy's (-ies?) ARE cool :)

Entropy is quite fascinating; in both thermodynamics (say, "type 1" entropy) as well as in information theory (say, of "type 2"). One just needs to be aware of the decades-long (or even, more than half a century-old) confusion between the two kinds.

I'm a big fan of anything related to type 2.

As for type 1, probably more familiar and relevant to your post, type 1 entropy is not quite "just disorder", for those who haven't been updated yet. It's at the same time simpler and more involved than that...

;)

Looks like bothe types of Entroy are related.

Man invented time so everything doesn't happen at once.
Man invented space so everything doesn't happen to him.

Oh, I have no doubts they are, somehow.

LOL. I swear you're the first in a fairly long while

LOL.

I swear you're the first in a fairly long while to let me know you "needed" my nerdy comment on a nerdy topic.

Here at home they (the woman, the daughter) almost threatened to kick me out last time I tried...

Okay. Just bitter-exaggerating. :P

in your vernacular, entropy is the opposite of ectropy.

in mine it is the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

meanwhile back at the farm...

by the definition of ectropy it seems like Picasso felt the same way
ectropy is a measure of the tendency of a dynamical system to do useful work and grow more organized.

(thanks - didn't know there was a word already for this phenomenon).
