The Tea Party is dead, Long live the Tea Party!

Now that the phony and fake Tea Party has been declared dead by pundits in the mainstream media, it is time we own what we started.

Ron Paul refused to take credit for what we accomplished for him in 07. Because of his refusal, the GOP, Dick Armey and Fox News decided to co-opt our movement. They were able to gather a bunch of angry Republicans that had no philosophical base but called themselves 'Tea Party' activists.

On this 6th Birthday of DailyPaul, I would like to declare the Tea Party ours once again!

Im posting a few of the best videos from the 07/08 campaign. Let it be a reminder of who we are and where we came from. Without these videos I believe we wouldn't have formed into what we are today.

ELiberty's Dec. 16th 2007, Tea Party Moneybomb:

Below is a letter sent to the Seattle times regarding this article http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2019670791_lonelypatr... on the Tea Party(tm). Of course, I never got a response. But feel free to correct your own local media when they spew their lies.

subject: Fact-Check: "Surrounded by liberals, tea-party group isolated"

Dear Mr. Lacitis,

I just finished reading your article from today, November 13, 2012, and I found it to be incorrect and misleading.

The article is incorrect because you stated that Keli Carender helped organize the "first ever tea-party protest" in February 2009. However, the first modern-day tea-party protest in fact took place two years earlier in Boston and other cities on December 16, 2007. (That is, unless you count the "money-bomb" that occurred on November 5th, 2007, which was organized by "Tea Party 07" and raised millions of dollars in a single day for Ron Paul's 2008 Presidential campaign.)

Here is a link to the coverage in Boston of the event: http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/20....

Also, here is a video uploaded the following day, December 17, 2007, with raw footage from the Tea Party protest in Austin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDGpG9BpMRk

Your article is also misleading as it claims that tea-party sympathizers are isolated in the city of Seattle. In fact, during the 2012 Republican legislative caucuses, supporters of Ron Paul enjoyed sweeping victories in Seattle (http://seattletimes.com/html/politicsnorthwest/2017792794_pa...).

Please let me know if you would like any additional sources on the matter, or if you are confused about why none of the well-funded, self-proclaimed leaders of the "Tea Party" fail to mention this extremely pertinent event, which commenced the modern-day tea-party movement. I look forward to an official correction of this disappointing factual error.

Sincerely,

&c

12-16-07 The Revolution Stopped for Some Tea...

I've long said, Ron Paul didn't start, nor is he a part of the neo-con tea party. The pawned media tried to drag him through the mud to associate him with anything bad that they could, including the well-meaning, but super-ignorant (and may I add, super "proud") tea party-ers.

Here's what really happened. On 12-16-2007, the Ron Paul Revolution embraced the opportunity to raise a little money for the good doctor. For those of you who don't know, the media had purposefully ignored and marginalized Ron Paul from the start, in 2007. It was very frustrating for all of us, to no avail. So the idea was hatched to set some records in fundraising. The Tea Party Commemoration fit right in with what Ron stood for, and was targeted to be the 2nd of two record breaking fundraising days. 50K plus Ron Paul fans gave $6.2M to the good Dr. in 24 hours.

I personally prefer the "We" Party, to the "Tea" Party. "We" the people!

Please see: http://youtu.be/HkJW0SY5WCk to find out what the Tea Party stands for.

Restore the Foundations - "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?"

Oh for the love of......

"We" did not start the Tea Party. It was started by a rant by Santelli on the floor of the Chicago Stock Market - because we were not bailing out Wall Street.

Being associated with that RINO POS organization is a losing proposition.

We had a fundraiser on the anniversary of the original Tea Party. Not even close to the same thing. Let it die.

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

uhhhh.... no.

I was there. The TEA Party was born on a thread at RPF. Santelli probably used the term on the floor because.. the event was the most popular political event of the 07/08 campaign.

Gimme a break.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

I was there too.

In fact, I was one of the organizers.

There was no such thing as the "Tea Party" in the media until after the Santelli rant. Sorry to burst your bubble - that's just the way it is.

I dare you to find a reference to "The Tea Party" prior to that - aside from references to us celebrating the anniversary of the original.

And furthermore, why would you want to be associated with such a horrible group of people. Trotskyite Communists that watch FOX News - yeah, let's associate with them.

Rebranding the Tea Party would be like trying to rebrand a nice, libertarian Nazi Party.

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

Really...

How about the effin video.. hold on.. wait for it....

tea party 07 or teaparty07.com

Hear that? That is wind going out of your sails.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

Yes....

Those were videos for our celebration of the Anniversary of the Tea Party on Dec. 16th. Not the same thing.

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

Hmmm...

the tea party movement is most commonly considered to have started at a "Ron Paul 2008" political rally the day of the record-breaking "money bomb" (the $6 million one). And it was a speech by Rand that supposedly the lit the fire.

Shortly afterwards I received an email from Freedomworks and the neocon hijacking had begun...

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

You are grossly misinformed

The Tea Party is not "most commonly considered" to be started by our moneybomb. Every news agency used the Santelli rant as the beginning while they ignored us for the most part.

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

I'm sorry...

you are wrong. My memories of the events are like they happened just yesterday.

See the following video of multiple mainstream talking heads declaring back-in-the-day that Ron Paul is the godfather of the tea party and how it all started with fundraising for the blimp (the original and very first "money bomb"):

The Tea Party Started In 2007 And Ron Paul Is The Godfather
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bNiDx7qTjA

The first money bomb event was billed as the "Ron Paul Tea Party 2007". After that similar tea party events began popping up at Ron Paul rallies across the nation.

Rick's Santelli's **2009** rant may have cemented the neocon hijacking of the movement but Santelli said nothing that Ron Paul had not already been saying for years.

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

.

the first tea party was born at boston harbor Dec 16 2007 when patriots reenacted the boston tea party by throwing boxes with labeling on them in the boston harbor and were ron paul supporters and several cities harborside followed suit and did this around the country that day.

"OH NO! He has a SON?" Neoconservatives and Liberals EVERYWHERE!

Rand Paul 2016

You fell for their trap

The media propaganda artists began saying Ron Paul was the godfather precisely at the same time the "liberal" news agencies were running stories about "Teabaggers" and how crazy and unreasonable the Tea Party was. It was not a coincidence.

It was done that way to cement his defeat and prevent the commoner Democrat voter from seeing Dr. Paul's anti-war and civil rights positions as an alternative. The entire charade, including the Tea Parties themselves, were orchestrated by the Corporatists/Fascists to keep their people in power. There is always a plan....

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

In order...

for what you are saying to be true I would had to have imagined it.

I was kind of excited about the tea party concept until I noticed it was being hijacked by Freedomworks. By the time Santelli did his rant I had already given up on and was criticizing the tea party for being hijacked.

Since I had already given up on the tea party PRIOR to Santelli's rant then it is IMPOSSIBLE for Santelli to have started it...

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

You are deluded, sorry.

And your timeline is very flawed. You have been here less than 3 years, you may be imagining things after all.

I was at our celebration of the Tea Party Anniversary Fundraiser, actually was one of the organizers. I guarantee you that there was no organization, no rallies, nothing in the news about "The Tea Party" until after the Santelli rant. Many of us here that were early supporters in '07 were actually were kind of angry that this numbskull got credit for the idea and that FOX News mostly ignored our celebrations. All we got was some, "Wow, they raised a lot of money" type passing comments. Very little video, etc...

You are welcome to your revisionist history if it makes you feel better. Why anyone would want to associate Dr. Paul with that crowd of miscreant, traitor, war-monger communists is beyond me. Anyone that does is not awake, and probably never will be.

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

Argue with the evidence...

The teaparty07.com website created by Ron Paul supporters:
http://web.archive.org/web/20071230062113/http://www.teapart...

Statement by John Tate of C4L:
“The concept of the modern day Tea Party began on December 16, 2007 when supporters of Ron Paul’s presidential campaign came together and raised over $6 million online in one day. The tremendous success of that event lead activists in the freedom movement and members of the Campaign for Liberty to begin planning today’s Tax Day Tea Parties.

Success always brings company, and it is very positive that so many conservatives, libertarians, Republicans, constitutionalists and even progressives have come together and joined our efforts. All Americans who are sincere about cutting out of control government spending are welcome to stand with Dr. Paul and the Campaign for Liberty as we fight to take our country back.” - JOHN TATE

YAL(C4L) organized tea party event PRIOR to Santelli's rant:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tn40Z...

It is telling that you are now having to resort to innuendo and veiled character smears in order to keep defending your position. I'm done. Have fun defending the myths created by Fox News and the neocons... :)

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

Exactly! Thanks

The YAL video has nothing to do with the "Tea Party", nothing at all - you have provided specious evidence of nothing. The Tate quote is after the Tea Party rallies began. Quite desperate....good finds, but desperate.

Furthermore, even if John 'traitor' Tate did say that prior to the Santelli rant, which he didn't, he was propably in cahoots with the Teocons all along.

No, you have proven nothing. Sorry you are wrong, you just are. I've been following all this stuff on a daily basis since before Ron Paul announced in early '07. You, newbie, are trying to fit evidence into a preconceived fallacy.

Karl Denninger's...

email starting the "send a teabag to your Congressional representatives" craze went viral a full month prior to Santelli's rant.

Reason #783 Santelli could not have started the tea party movement... :)

brother!

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

Haha..

:)

~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

I'd like to take back the 'tea party'

It got off on the wrong foot last time.

I have been calling for re-asserting

our position as the original Tea Party since the fake Tea Partiers started infiltrating it...

.

There are 1000's of small local tea parties all across the US.
6 in our district alone.
Just because media and dick army said they co opted it- doesnt make it so.
The tea parties are alive and well and getting bigger.
Just ask ron and rand paul.
they will tell you.
notice how media never mentions one peep about tea parties, any longer?
know you know why.
Tea Parties are every where. At least 150 in Texas alone.

"OH NO! He has a SON?" Neoconservatives and Liberals EVERYWHERE!

Rand Paul 2016

thx for the comment

I had no idea. I stayed away from them the minute they were hijacked.

Makes sense.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

.

ur welcome.
my local tea party (Pauls district in Texas) endorsed and campaigned for a Dem for sheriff.
The Dem for sheriff was an oath keeper, hillsdale constitutional college graduate and took an oath before us to uphold the second amendment.
when asked "what will you do when they come for our guns".
his reply was "lock arms with you and stand and fight."
he lost- and now we have a dem turned republican as our sheriff who I stood up to several times, face to face and his family, they mocked me, smeared me and threatened me.
now hes sheriff!lol
cant wait to see the look on rinos faces when he says he wants their guns.
He told me in front of the largest polling location on voting day
"I dont care about the constitution, only YOU do".

I cant even make this stuff up.
find a local tea party that fits your beliefs. some vary from point to point but most you should agree with and all hold ron pauls values at heart- as far as Ive seen. even the ones they say were coopted.
go in one and tell them where their wrong.
"People will be looking for answers" ron paul
so join a tea party and give them answers they seek.

I'm curious...

What is your criteria for?:

1) paragraph formation
2) determining when to capitalize the first letter of a sentence

:)

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

.

ok.
Ill bite.

i type fast and have 3 'key' key plates missing.

my cursor goes wild and sometimes deletes entire emails that took an hour to write. Cursor shows up (for no reason) in mid sentences and begins typing there as I look at the keys im hitting, unknowingly typing in the mid sentence I all ready created- making me go back and delete and retype in the correct place it was meant.
my guess.
Is one of you LIBS inside my computer, aggravating me???lol

so my last thought is my punctuation or capitalization.
My spelling( oops did it again, but corrected) my spelling is important- wording and framing of sentences come out the way I would talk- so i dont mince words.
Im "informal" and that would be the word.

The Tea Party brand has been tainted

why bother taking it back? So people can still refer to TP'ers as racist Bible-thumping redneck yadda yaddas? Because that's the first thing that comes to mind whenever the average non-political junkie hears it. Either that, or they think Sarah Palin...do you *really* want to be associated with that woman?

Perhaps the opposition wouldn't be so easily controlled if the opposition didn't label itself in the first place...

A signature used to be here!
