On the RealClearPolitics.com website there is a current article entitled -
Actor Danny Glover: Second Amendment Was Created To Protect Slavery. The title of the article is all the description that is needed.

I attempted to comment on this article, but apparently, the moderators/censors of the site decided that my comment was too damning to their purposes. My comment has yet to be published. Although I didn't save the exact text of the comment, it can be paraphrased as follows:

While I have enjoyed Mr. Glover's movies in the past, I disagree with his understanding of history. The 2nd Amendment was not created to protect the institution of slavery. For a relevant historical context, I will quote Thomas Jefferson:

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

and for a relevant quote regarding gun control from a respected, peaceful figure, we can look to Gandhi:

"Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest." – Autobiography, page 446.

If Mr. Glover would like to learn about gun control legislation in America as it has pertained to African Americans, I would strongly recommend the video "No Guns for Negroes" which can be found on YouTube.

I just put the name of the video and said it could be found on Youtube.

When I submitted the comment, it said all comments must first be approved by a moderator. There were plenty of name-calling and racially tinged comments that were approved. I guess my comment didn't fit into their agenda.
