I Am So Frustrated

I feel so alone out here in lala land where my neighbors, friends and relatives insist on living.

You know, the land where everyone has their heads in the sand and don't know or want to know about what is REALLY happening around them. They constantly complain about how bad things are but if I try to tell them WHY things are like that they get a glazed look on their faces and go blank. I send articles to people or links to eye opening videos but NOBODY will read or watch them. I MEAN NOBODY! What's with that?

You would think that out of all the people I know I could get at least ONE to pay attention. Is it something I am doing wrong? My better half gets it and I get it but nobody else we know gets it. When I ask these people why they won't at least read the articles or watch the videos they say they don't want to know or they say they don't have time. (Yet some will have time to call me up on the weekend and want to talk about nothing for an hour at a time)

Anyway, I keep trying to wake people up to no avail. It's not like I jump in with overwhelming stuff. I never start the conversations on these things. I wait until people are bitching about having to work 3 jobs to pay their bills or why their kids are being put on meds or why they have so many issues at school etc and try to slowly introduce them to the truth. They STILL won't listen. GEEZ. Is it me?

Excuse me for venting but like I said, I am frustrated at the apathy of people these days.

My girlfriend is (mostly)

My girlfriend is (mostly) alseep, but she does listen when I'm feeling frustrated about something on the news, or whatever. I think it is mostly that she is afraid of some of the things I say, knows it is important, but doesn't know what to do or how it would fit in her life.

Last summer I started explaining the Federal Reserve to her and accidentally made her cry. "It just is really scary. Let's just worry about our little bubble". I felt pretty bad and try to only say bits at a time now. She'll say things like "I think college should be free, we are really behind compared to other countries", but will listen when I state my opinion, and tries to be open minded. She was upset by Obama's gun control executive actions, and actually asked me about it. She's moving in the right direction.

I think the big key with her is mutual respect, and not bringing it up too much. Too much at once is overload. It's like coaxing a rabbit out of a hole to feed it a carrot.

My girlfriend

is the excact same way - She understands that we're being screwed over on many levels, but has yet to engage completely. As you say, mutual respect is key. Understand the arguments of the counterpart and remember that liberty always has an answer.

Liberty is a strong message that everyone agrees on, ultimately. But the massive propaganda makes liberty a radical message as well. I have no idea why though.

Even Greenland knows what's going on!

I feel the exact same way!

Only its my "better half" that is asleep. We got married 5 years ago before I woke up. In every other way we compliment each other. Only in the past 2 years have I been feeling a resentment towards his absolute willful ignorance of whats going on in this country. I knew he was a liberal when we married but that meant nothing to me. We live in a very liberal college town so most folks around here could be classified that way. I am at my wits end. I cant talk to him about anything to do with politics. He is normally a calm man but if I even comment on the news he will yell at me that Im spreading FEAR. End of conversation. Go to bed angry. I've chosen to go about my business, I prep, I buy silver I watch all my news at work. But it breaks my heart that my own husband doesnt get it. He thinks the gov is essentially good and is there to build our roads and govern the country. I've gotten him to watch the Obama deception and the Wikileaks doc, but no conversation. I think we are just humoring each other. This is not the marriage I envisioned. Luckily I have 2 close friends who I can talk to, otherwise I would go crazy. I feel like I'm living a secret life. Does anyone else have a liberal spouse and how do you deal with it?

Cognitive Dissonance

In psychology it is "the feeling of discomfort when simultaneously holding two or more conflicting cognitions: ideas, beliefs, values or emotional reactions." As Americans we are raised to believe the government is for the people, they wouldn't intentionally harm citizens. When a person is faced with information that shakes their beliefs to the core the natural response is denial, misperception, rejection and inwardly fear. You cannot force that change in people you can only give them the material and a choice. Keep in mind they are hearing you, you gave them their choice, sometimes a person has to resolve that internal conflict it just may take longer than it did you.

I have woken up Neocons, Obamabots, and formely apathetic football/True Blood/Dancing with the Stars/American Idol zombies......

A lot of us are intelligent people, but we were just like them at one point - someone, or some thing has to come along and send you in a different direction - give you a video, book, magazine, send you to a website, have a chat....or else you'd keep going on in MSM la la land

It's difficult considering the level of brainwashing, propaganda and conditioning we're exposed to via the boob tube...but it IS possible to de-program people...the same way they got programmed...

Constant repetition...constant repetition of the truth in our case ...wear 'em down...one on one, face to face is MUCH MUCH better than FB or email.

The truth has a way of cutting though. All you need is to be confronted with one gaping hole in your current views, and an intelligent person will start to question everything.

Everyone has their pet issue through which they can be reached. We all know that every topic, pick one, just about any one - has a dark side.

Note: Family members are often the hardest to reach. They don't respect your opinion - they need to hear it from someone else. A preacher can't preach, and a doctor can't heal in their hometowns...

Very very true. My pet issue

Very very true.

My pet issue that woke me up was nutrition. I was tired of being fat and tired and started looking into different diets. I tried all kinds of diets, and was even raw vegan at one point (not the healthiest diet!). From research I determined that saturated fat was, in fact, healthy, and did a google search for "healthy high fat diet" and found www.marksdailyapple.com. That led me to learning about wheat and corn and soy. That led me to Monsanto and Big Pharm. That led me to some conspiracy websites, and also local organic farmer websites. Someone along the way mentioned Ron Paul, which of course led me here. From here I found lewrockwell.com, freedomain radio, all kinds of great stuff.

It all starts with one pet issue.

What really spurred me to research the dark side of the world is the fraud that is Ancel Keys.

End The Fed!

Try this. Really.

I've felt that way many times. But they need to hear it from a perspective that fits their personally and from a trusted source. Sorry that is not you. See who that trusted source is here. Give it a shot, and report back.

Hey, skippy d,

Hey, skippy d,

Just to drop a few lines to this.

Nah. I feel you. It's normal you feel frustrated. Many, many of us, if not all, feel so at some point.

It's no easy fight.

Just don't despair.

Know you're not alone.

Yes we're still overwhelmed by a carefully ENGINEERED MISERY of a wanna-be police and welfare state whose best allies are the legions of useful idiots.

But the truth is like light in the darkness: you can hide it from everybody and from anywhere for some time, but that will never be... forever.

Keep the faith. Again, you are NOT alone. Our numbers are growing slowly but surely.

"Their" Bread and Circuses.

Many people are still stuck in Plato's cave. We've been out of it, we went deep down the rabbit hole, and we surfaced anew.

Keep standing. Keep fighting. Do anything you believe is worth, is useful for the cause. The Constitution restored. Your, our rights.

Just do it. And share about it.

You can't save people from themselves if they really don't want. It's one person at a time anyway, and that will be from your own example.

Hence, by any means, keep taking care of yourself, first.

Are you really frustrated? Then DO SOMETHING about it.

Don't b*tch about b*tchers.

You are running up against cognitive dissonance.

So, look up cognitive dissonance and then look up tools on how to address and overcome cognitive dissonance. There are such things.

Learn them. Apply them.

You Have A Point

But this subject will take a lot of study on my part because understanding humans is a little more involved than just looking something up online. Thanks for the input. I plan to research it.

Knock on the door..

Most will not wake up until the knock on THEIR door....

However (re-thought) now in the age of the 'drone' they might not even have that last warning. Won't matter much then I guess. RIP !!

"I just want to live in a free country" - Dr. Ron Paul

'If someone comes up to you

'If someone comes up to you and says they're thirsty and asks you for a glass of water, give them half a glass. Only if they finish it and ask for another glass, give them another half a glass.'

I do a lot better than

I do a lot better than "nobody." Of the few dozen people I at least connect with occasionally, I'd say have to say about 30% have either come over to Ron Paul, or asked me to learn more or at least conceded a big point to Ron's view like money-printing or foreign intervention or privacy rights. But I'm speaking to them on the issues Dr. Paul focuses on, not the stuff that dominates this website these days.

10-15 million more voters need to believe in non-interventionism (liberty) at home and abroad to change America. Minds changed on Syria. Minds changing on privacy. "Printing money" is part of the dialogue. Win minds through focus, strategy.

Lead by Example not Imposed force

Imagine if someone was trying to convince you that the government was your best friend, that banks cared about your investments, that pharmaceuticals made you well, etc. etc. Won't happen, right?

YOU cannot change OTHERS' beliefs. That is THEIR work and their's alone... If they even want to change them. Some will NEVER change their current beliefs due to their own cognitive dissonance. They will justify their beliefs even if they are looking the Truth right in the face.

Just keep YOURSELF informed should things get ugly to the point where these "slumbering" people have no choice but to be faced with a change of belief. Then YOU will be the one sought out for clarity.

I gave up trying for ALL the same reasons you just stated. But you're in a better position because my wife has only "one eye open" but still rather comfortable in her "ignorant bliss". And you know what, I don't mind because I have her to sort of "escape" these realities when I want to.

We're all in this together and the one's closet to your life may not be ready for change, but people here on the DP are. So don't stress out about it. When it was discovered that the Earth was round, it took about 200 years for the world to accept it. Do not base your knowing of facts on the acceptance of said facts by others. Make better use of your time.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

But YOU understand only HALF of the truth.

Keep in mind, that free society is not a happy, problem-free one.

The amount of unhappiness will be the same or more. Currently, due to the fact that other countres take our paper dollar as gold, most of Americans live beyond their means (actual market productivity.) But at the same time, Americans do not want to work as hard as people in China. Even Alex Jones does not like that. But how else can you compete if tariffs and regulations are not present?

In a free society, people will look at the rich and whine all the same about bankers and Jews.

I would argue that YOU only know half the truth.

It's a complete myth that a free society wouldn't be happy or more problem free. And it's another form of control to spread that as truth.

You based your statement on prosperity being a zero sum game but it's not. Technology has increased productivity overall by many multiples and that should have been dispersed somewhat evenly among all classes but the banks / TPTB / elites / whatever have taken control of it to the point that it all flows to them.

If we took back the prosperity that has come from all the productivity increases given to current civilization, the average person world-wide wouldn't have to work as much as the most lazy groups do now.

Just ask yourself what actual 'things or services' you would need from another human being (NOT counting machines) to be happy. The average of that question for all the people everywhere is the average of what work it would take from you.

The happiness

is a mental condition. Today, most of us live better than princes 500 years ago. That fact (the knowledge and goods/services we have compared to the princes) is not reflected in the amount of happiness we experience.

Don't understand what you're saying

Are you saying that more material things don't equate to more happiness? If so, then you're wrong.

If you're saying that people today are not happier than they were 500 years ago, then you're also wrong.

I did not reference how happy people are today as compared to back then but I will say that they are much happier. On average, people are only tangentially unhappy with their apparent poverty and their apparent tyranny. Its only a few that have experienced genuine cases of either for themselves.

However, I am saying that more wealth in the form of goods and services for less work does translate to more happiness. It's a fact that much of the perceived disgust with their society is a result of them comparing to their wealthier peers, so more equality in that area will lessen this effect. If for no other reason, this will happen because people will become fed up with the system of working day to day, some amount earlier, leading to earlier retirements and less unemployment.

It's all connected and it all stems from the wealth scarcity imposed by the banks and by the resulting connection between wealth and social standing. Fortunately, if you eliminate the former, you also eliminate the latter.

Skippy, my friend, my brother

Skippy, my friend, my brother in arms...YOU ARE NOT ALONE. You have no idea who I am. Nor I you, but believe me when I say our bond is unbreakable. Its good to be frustrated, it means your moving in the right direction. Its good to keep reaching out, but you know what they say about leading a horse to water. All you can do is get involved locally. Get to know your sherriff, make sure your on the same team. Get your house in order. Have enough physical silver/gold on hand so you and yours can get by for a year. Get in shape. Rule number one in Zombiland: Cardio. If you can't out run the heard, your f$%king dead. Get your arsenal set. Be able take apart and reassemble every weapon you own blindfolded and keep them spotless. Get to know a local farmer. Vounteer to work for free on the weekends if he'll teach you how to farm.

At the end of the day, all we can do is protect ourselves and those who depend on us. Thats not to say, don't get involved, just do it locally. And the more people who shun you and think your nuts, the better job your doing. Ignore them. and keep you feet moving. Being alone is not such a bad thing. Dr. Paul was alonefor 30 years. He never gave up. he kept pluging away, which is what we must do .

God Bless Skippy. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk.

Sure Fire Way to Wake Sleepers Up #4

Invite people over for dinner & movie. Or a potluck. The movie is "They Live."

Not exactly always an instant wake up, but there are a lot of parrells to reality there. Afterwards it gives you a great ice breaker to get em talking. You might just blow some people away....

We are living in massive denial

because the truth of our situation is too scary to comprehend. People are too afraid to take in more information and the media feeds the avoidance. This is what it must have been like in 1930's Germany.

Here is a Facebook post I made today:

Wake up America: This is a scary opinion piece from the New York Times. It seems we have an incompetent dictator in the White House. " ...many of the biggest problems facing the administration flow directly from the man at the top. Mr. Obama is a lousy manager. ...the president’s team is, in fact, a fractious group whose members are often at odds with one another, and Mr. Obama may be the most aloof president since Richard M. Nixon. ... Mr. Obama’s top advisers say they often feel alienated from the president. There is a sense in the White House that “Barack Obama’s theory of government is he is the government.” http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/20/opinion/sunday/managing-th...

And a sarcastic response: The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

and have you responded to the sarcastic response you got?

I would have, without elaborating:

Works every time. Just need to learn how to say what you are saying in a funny way.

Our movement REALLY needs Commeidans to sell the idea. WE NEED THEM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, right now, esp in night clubs, etc.

Listen to JACK BLOOD on the radio. He's the best in the field we have on the radio today, involving knowledge and humor together. Everyone here should be listening to his shows. You can have a good time and learn a lot studying his approach.

You can listen to the show @ http://deadlinelive.info/

Pay Them 2 C (Fake, but...)

I know this method has a "dirty" feeling to it and even has a feeling of being "unethical" for some reason, but pay em $20 to watch your key videos.....

I do not really believe in paying anyone to watch. Because it would just have a feeling of paying someone to "take a gift." But the concept would work and it's just something to analyse.

However, would it really be so bad to "offer to pay" if they felt the end result was not worth their time? Maybe something there?

Because: Some animals are more equal than other animals. -Animal Farm-

What the? > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MTIwY3_-ks

This should clear it up for you.

"Most people prefer to believe their leaders are just and fair even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which they live is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of a corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one’s self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all." ~ Michael Rivero

Moral Cowards

I like that term. It seems to fit. Thanks.
