I Am So Frustrated

I feel so alone out here in lala land where my neighbors, friends and relatives insist on living.

You know, the land where everyone has their heads in the sand and don't know or want to know about what is REALLY happening around them. They constantly complain about how bad things are but if I try to tell them WHY things are like that they get a glazed look on their faces and go blank. I send articles to people or links to eye opening videos but NOBODY will read or watch them. I MEAN NOBODY! What's with that?

You would think that out of all the people I know I could get at least ONE to pay attention. Is it something I am doing wrong? My better half gets it and I get it but nobody else we know gets it. When I ask these people why they won't at least read the articles or watch the videos they say they don't want to know or they say they don't have time. (Yet some will have time to call me up on the weekend and want to talk about nothing for an hour at a time)

Anyway, I keep trying to wake people up to no avail. It's not like I jump in with overwhelming stuff. I never start the conversations on these things. I wait until people are bitching about having to work 3 jobs to pay their bills or why their kids are being put on meds or why they have so many issues at school etc and try to slowly introduce them to the truth. They STILL won't listen. GEEZ. Is it me?

Excuse me for venting but like I said, I am frustrated at the apathy of people these days.

Oh really? Oh my, your serious! Wasn't it Mark Twain saying...?

Your friends are subjected to paying you attention & interest? Try revising your payment plan. You pay attention. They pay interest.

Why does your friend, "run to the bank" to get a loan, then pay attention @ interest? Why does their banker create a loan out-of-thin-air... that your friend must pay @ interest?

Try this: "Oh really? Oh my, your serious! Wasn't it Mark Twain saying something about this matter... [Shake head] oh, so long ago?" [Your hook is baited... Be patient... Wait for a bite.] Don't let on what you are going to say, till you done said it!

If you are alone you are doing it wrong.

Lately (in the last year and a half) I have been amazed at he reception liberty has received by the people in my life. There are still people in the sand of course, but I'm very encouraged by the discussions I hear and have.

The closer I act to Ron Paul, the better I am received.
The closer I act to Alex Jones, the more I am repelled.

When you are wise and logical and calm, people understand.
When you sound like a crazy, emotional lunatic it makes people uncomfortable.

I stay away, for the most part, from unprovable conspiracy theories and stick to philosophy and, most importantly, the topics my audience finds interesting.

This will bother the Infowars hivemend, but it's the truth. I've been awake for about 4 years now (not as long as you old dog 1988 Ron Paul fans) but I have undeniably helped push the world around me towards liberty. I started out rough and abrasive, and I have become more polished. I'm not frustrated, I'm very encouraged.

**Also, people aren't good at homework. They don't like watching specific videos or reading books. You have to win them over first in conversation, make them intrigued, and hope the go look into it themselves. If they do they often come to the conclusion that they "thought that way all along." It doesn't matter. You just have to let your ego go and smile.

You are...

neurotically obsessed with Alex Jones.

Alex Jones is just a guy with a radio show that presents mainstream news items and then gives his own interpretation and then adamantly and sometimes rudely encourages his listeners to not just trust him but to do their own research and go out and get to know their neighbors and talk to them and to start their own projects and get involved with local politics. And he wraps it all in over-the-top theatrical golden age of radio schtick and kitsch. People understand all this.

Alex is just a guy with a radio show. And since day one of Daily Paul there has always been a large percentage of members that listen to his show. And none of your protestations and demonizing will ever change that. All you will accomplish is isolating yourself and causing division. This should be obvious from the voting patterns on posts related to this topic.

You are not some valiant great white knight of gentle truth rescuing us from the Alex dragon of destruction. Alex is just a guy with a radio show and you are just a guy/gal ranting on a social blog.

Get a grip... :p

Oh so I'm the problem now?

I'm not the one who is frustrated with my friends and neighbors.

The only people who frustrate me are Infowarriors and people who link to NaturalNews like it is a source of unquestionable truth. Many of these people are my so-called allies in the liberty movement, but are impossible to have a conversation with, even though I agree about many things.

But I'm the problem? I'm the neurotic obsessive one? Okay Weebles. Kiss my "white-knight" libertarian ass.

I didn't say...

that you were "a" problem much less "the" problem.

I just articulated an observation. :) That you seem to be obsessed with demonizing Alex Jones (and Mike Adams).

Every couple of weeks I listen to Alex Jones and sometimes hop on over to Natural News and peruse a bit. And like most people I agree with some of the info and with the rest I either disagree or take with a grain of salt. I partake of their media products about as often as Napolitano, Schiff, C4L, Ron Paul's media releases, etc. etc.. None of them I feel rise to the level of spokesman for "god", or divine prophets, or infallible.

Perhaps your efforts would be more effective if you focused on issues and not personalities? Nobody had even mentioned AJ in this forum post until you brought him up. Just sayin'... :p

I'm sorry

feeling all alone is a tough place to be. You're not alone. Wouldn't the establishment want you to think that? That there is no hope and no point in trying? I don't think they are as powerful as they think they are. We must never give up. Sometimes we need to change the approach. When one goes looking for the truth, it's not hard to find.

People, IMO will be forced to wake up at some point. That's when things will really get interesting. Peace, love, and hugs to you skippy!

I hear you.

I just live in my own little world now. I have one brother left who will speak to me - 5 siblings that I have no contact with. My dearest friend is still "with me" but she lives 1000 miles away. Idahoans are more awake than average, and yet they have this "Rah, rah, GOP" attitude that prevents them from scrutinizing the GOP.
I changed tactics. I am mid-stream now, so can't really tell you how it will work. We are setting up an aquaponics dome and will start teaching classes in self-reliance, hopefully in the spring. I don't think Americans have the emotional maturity to face the truth. My son had a friend visit last month, an "awake" friend. When I started chatting openly with him, he shut me down. He no longer cares, he believes we lost and he is just hanging around waiting to die. This is a young man with a good job living "the good life" in Florida. He is that hopeless and that unwilling to do anything about it - he is a deer in the headlights. So, skippy, THANK YOU for being a headlight. It freezes a LOT of them up... but you are doing what must be done. Clearly, there are very few like you, so extra points for persistence.
Peace, friend.

Fishy - The truth cost me both my parents and both my sisters

I haven't seen, spoken, or communicated with any of them in almost 2 years. I did a lot of crazy stuff growing up and created a lot of unnecessary drama for my family but none of them ever "washed their hands" of me for any of the things I did back then. I was stunned when they all turned on me beause I "woke up". I would have bet my life that could have never happened. But it did and oddly, I've never been happier. All 4 of them (and their families) are just hopelessly brainwashed.

One sister is a millionaire who's husband has gotten all their money from crazy MIC contracts. She called me once about a year ago but I hung up on her when I realized it was her.

Someone that knows us both told me that my sister can't figure out why I'm not sucking up to her for some of her money since she knows I'm struggling to get by. Her value of a person is almost 100% determined by the size of their bank account.

There is no question that taking the red pill is both a blessing and a curse. Sometimes I wish I never took the red pill, but there is no turning back. Things just get weirder and weirder all the time but at least they make logical sense now. Things used to be so upside down and backwards for my brain that I used to drink constantly. Nothing made sense! When I drank, I no longer cared. Since "waking up" things make sense. A lot of the things are hard to believe but at least 2+2=4 and I'm not always trying to fit square pegs into round holes. I rarely ever drink anymore. I think all the insanity was too much for my rational mind and so I drank to escape the madness.

I've got about 10 close friends. I've been succesful "waking up" 2 of them and 2 more are coming along as they see things playing out just like I've been telling them. My wife is completely awake which is probably the most helpful to me and my daughter has the red pill on her tongue but just won't swallow it. Shes close but doesn't want to leave her false comfort zone. I think she remembers the 6 months that it took my wife and I to accept that we had been lied to and deceived all our lives. My wife and I were not much fun to be around during the first 6 months after we "woke up". I keep telling my daughter she will be able to deal with it all in less than a month at her age. I'm 50. My daughter is the smartest of us all so I can't wait for her to join us in the real world! :)

I Appreciate the Response

I too am aiming at teaching self reliance. I have friends in Arkansas and have been going there a lot lately. We are into cob building and foraging. Lots to forage there. We LOVE cob building and took a workshop at a really cool place in Huntsville. Here are a couple of interesting sites for you to check out. http://www.cobcottage.com and http://phoenixcommotion.com/ Enjoy!

checking them out now - thanks!
Next time you're in Arkansas, say hi to Mary and Joe for us - lol!
We have some really good friends there.

It's not just you

This is something I've also struggled with and have given much thought. The following are some possible reasons I've come up with that I'll throw out here for discussion:

- Herd mentality. I hear what you're saying but I'm not going to take action until everyone around me is saying/doing the same.

- There are those who literally cannot handle the truth and find some level of comfort in their ignorance. Whether consciously or unconsciously it's a defense mechanism against unpleasant thought.

- Many people have a hard time connecting dots and working in the abstract. They live in a world dominated by cause and effect as perceived directly from their senses.

- A lack of foresight. Similar to the point above, it's not important until it affects them directly and unfortunately after it's too late.

- Lastly, I'm often reminded of Plato's Allegory of the Cave. I believe we are the philosophers who were set free from a life of isolation to see the world as it truly is. And our attempts to enlighten our former prison mates falls on deaf ears because it simply doesn't fit within their world view. We might as well be speaking a different language.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

ytc's picture

Even within the greater "liberty movement" we see these

gaps of perceptions and unwillingness to appreciate how others perceive things differently and why.

It takes LOVE to understand & accept others and their ways. If that love you offer is rejected for the time being, we just have to shake off the dust on our sandals and continue on with our own paths in peace. It's useless to get into mouth-frothing arguments and putdowns.

There are some intelligent

There are some intelligent people out there that are on the other side of the river of sanity, and can not even stick their toe in it because the feel of that icy water will cave their entire brains in. They are mostly Democrats. They honestly believe in Obama and all of the lies. They do NOT think for themselves--well, they DO, but only within the borders of those lies. The worst part is, they also believe the media, and have NO concerns regarding the validity of the Sandy Hook saga, building 7, nor our Constitution. I even like a few of these people, but they are SO brainwashed with the waters of deceit, the water of clarity would stun them, and they stay far away for their own self-preservation. I have no idea how it will turn out.

The right to be wrong cannot be infringed. It's a liberty thing.

It's fluoride in the food

It's fluoride in the food and water and soda. Poor nutrition in the food supply and TV brainwashing. Those are the main culprits.

Don't waste your time trying to educate the brain dead and find some new like minded friends. Go to the shooting range or find a preppers/gardening group in your area. Your more likely to find the right kind of people there.

I'd argue that

this may be the surest strategy to actually lose the 'Infowar'.

Not seeking discussion. Hiding away. Surrounding with only like-minded folks. Digging in.

There is no real reason to shy away, we have the better arguments. I think it's a critical time - you gotta seek discussion at some point.

How else can we win?

Huh? Your not making any

Huh? Your not making any sense the OP is wondering why no one will even listen. You've already lost with those people it doesn't matter how articulate you are they are not listening.

The sure way to lose the infowar is to keep trying to be all politically correct which is what got is to this point. Its time to get mad and stop worrying about brain dead sheep who are not capable of even listening.

I disagree.

I believe one has by tendency greater success or influence on people the other way round. When people don't listen, how do you make them listen?
And don't tell me there's no way they will. You must learn to speak their language when they don't speak yours. And they will listen if given the right information at the right time.

To give up too quickly is to have no desire to win anyway.
Remember- we're in a war; but it's one of the mind, one to strengthen their spirits, not one of physical force. and i recommend to keep it that way as long as one can.

We've got to be persistent in order to achieve something.
Btw, i appreciate your comment. Take care!
