All I can say is...

...that's hilarious! ;-)

Lupe is fantastic

Started listening to him about 2 years ago.

Here's a hilarious interview he has on Bill O'Reilly's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-W3FjbolMKI

He's not fantastic, he's a

He's not fantastic, he's a raging socialist.

if your 20 years old and not

if your 20 years old and not a socialist then you have no heart if your 40 years old and still a socialist you have no brain. Lupes young still he just needs some leadin in the write direction, but he has all the makings of a good freedom fighter once he learns a little more

Hmm

Never heard him make comments on how he believed the monetary system should be run.

Have an article or video with direct quotes to back it up?

You are correct that he

You are correct that he doesn't talk about monetary policy, but he does talk about fiscal policy. His song Words I Never Said attacks spending cuts.

He says that "your child's

He says that "your child's future is the First to go with budget cuts," implying that militarism and corporate welfare should be the FIRST cuts. I have heard Dr. Paul argue the same point.

You seem to have drawn A LOT of conclusions from that one quote.

Artists standing by what's

Artists standing by what's right make me proud. Thank god for people like him.

"Words I Never Said"
(feat. Skylar Grey)

[Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud Inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said
I can’t take back the words I never said

[Lupe Fiasco]
I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bullshit
Just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets
How much money does it take to really make a full clip
9/11 building 7 did they really pull it
Uhh, And a bunch of other cover ups
Your childs future was the first to go with budget cuts
If you think that hurts then, wait here comes the uppercut
The school was garbage in the first place, that's on the up and up
Keep you at the bottom but tease you with the uppercrust
You get it then they move it so you never keeping up enough
If you turn on TV all you see’s a bunch of “what the fucks”
Dude is dating so and so blabbering bout such and such
And that ain't Jersey Shore, homie that's the news
And these the same people that supposed to be telling us the truth
Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist
Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say shit
That's why I ain't vote for him, next one either

I’ma part of the problem, my problem is I’m peaceful
And I believe in the people.

[Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said
I can’t take back the words I never said

[Lupe Fiasco - Verse 2]
Now you can say it ain't our fault if we never heard it
But if we know better than we probably deserve it
Jihad is not a holy war, wheres that in the worship?
Murdering is not Islam!
And you are not observant
And you are not a muslim
Israel don’t take my side cause look how far you’ve pushed them
Walk with me into the ghetto, this where all the Kush went
Complain about the liquor store but what you drinking liquor for?
Complain about the gloom but when’d you pick a broom up?
Just listening to Pac ain't gone make it stop
A rebel in your thoughts, ain't gon make it halt
If you don’t become an actor you’ll never be a factor
Pills with million side effects
Take em when the pains felt
Wash them down with Diet soda!
Killin off your brain cells
Crooked banks around the World
Would gladly give a loan today
So if you ever miss a payment
They can take your home away!

[Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said, never said
I can’t take back the words I never said

[Lupe Fiasco - Verse 3]
I think that all the silence is worse than all the violence
Fear is such a weak emotion that's why I despise it
We scared of almost everything, afraid to even tell the truth
So scared of what you think of me, I’m scared of even telling you
Sometimes I’m like the only person I feel safe to tell it to
I’m locked inside a cell in me, I know that there’s a jail in you
Consider this your bailing out, so take a breath, inhale a few
My screams is finally getting free, my thoughts is finally yelling through

"Your child's future was the first to go with budget cuts?"

I seem to recall a certain someone saying

http://youtu.be/aHTEF3T31Tg?t=1m35s

and

http://youtu.be/dskaD0zL8LY?t=1m31s

etc...

Do you think it's possible that he's referencing how politicians hold hostage the benefits of poor people who have become dependent on the system in order to keep control and justify eternally increasing spending and growth of government? I don't know...

I haven't heard any of his songs before but that one makes it sound like he's somewhat close to what a lot of DP people think. Don't really know why you had to post five (and counting) negative comments about this guy in one thread.

You are right. He was also

You are right. He was also emphasizing that the FIRST thing to be cut always affects the poorest (in this case education), implying that militarism and corporate welfare should be the FIRST cuts- as Dr. Paul often states.

Free speech, where art thou.

Somebody should be sued.

Free includes debt-free!

Prepared to be dis-gusted

A statement from one of the concert's sponsors:

Disappointed that an artist took opportunity to use an event celebrating innovation/startups to make a political statement. #StartUpRockOn

Oh so an inauguration concert isn't political now, huh? I know you've got Americans dumbed down, but that dumb? Please... You're the ones trying to promote this obvious BS.

Cyril's picture

Yeah. Busted HYPOCRITES.

LOL. Nice catch, Vince.

Yeah. Busted HYPOCRITES.

They were rather more disappointed by his political stance not being ... TURNED IN THE DIRECTION they'd have hoped for.

Or am I extrapolating too much? Don't we have counter examples, though?

Please bump this!

..

OK

Bump! Great job Lupe (if it is true). He should have said "don't blame me, I voted for Ron Paul!"

Liberty is on the march, tyranny is on the run!

Why would he, a socialist,

Why would he, a socialist, write in a guy who's not on the ballot?

Maybe he and rapper Immortal

Maybe he and rapper Immortal Technique can collaborate. That'd be one heckuva tandem.

Hell ya!

They could open a few minds:)

Yeah, we could have more

Yeah, we could have more young socialists!

Oh wait, we already do have a ton.

You're right. They understand

You're right. They understand half the picture/problem, at least that's what I gather form Imm Tech. I haven't heard enough from Fiasco to judge his comprehension about economics. Without knowing that, I should have said they'd make a great tandem for at least half the problem. IT has work to do about economics. Fiasco, I don't know. What do you know about his views on economics?
