Vatican backs Obama’s gun controls

All of the Roman Catholic libertarians and anarcho-capitalists at LewRockwell.com and the Acton Institute must be grinding their teeth over this one. Choose ye this day. . . .

CatholicNews.com reports,

The Catholic Church’s position on gun control is not easy to find; there are dozens of speeches and talks and a few documents that call for much tighter regulation of the global arms trade, but what about private gun ownership?

The answer is resoundingly clear: Firearms in the hands of civilians should be strictly limited and eventually completely eliminated.

Pope Benedict XVI was known as the "Panzer Cardinal"

[This must be some kind of a world synchronicity from hell. Obama, Merkel, Pope Benedict XVI, etc.]

from 4/20/2005 5:46:35 PM ET [history doesn't change]
As John Paul II's right hand man, in charge of enforcing the conservative papal policy, Cardinal Ratzinger earned an unfortunate nickname from his more progressive peers: the "Panzer Cardinal". Like the tank. Pope Benedict XVI, now 78, had his own brush with warfare as a young boy growing up in Nazi Germany.

-At age, 14 membership in Germany's "Hitler Youth" became mandatory. So Joseph Ratzinger enrolled
-He managed to get out early so he could study for the priesthood.
-Two years later, when he was 16, Ratzinger was drafted again by the German Army.
-Ratzinger worked as a helper in an anti-aircraft brigade.
-In 1945, he was put through basic training and stationed near his hometown in Bavaria.
-When Allied forces advanced, he deserted the German army — risking death by that act alone.
-After he escaped, Ratzinger was captured by American soldiers and spent the remainder of the war in a POW camp.

Operation Gladio

JFK put Nazis in control of security of Western Germany in 1960s.

Nothing New

Catholic ESTABLISHMENT was always flexible and calculative. It banned capitalism as usury, was quiet during Hitler rule, voted for Obama in order to bring more illegal Mexicans in and quietly fight Evangelicals.

Give it a power, burning witches would be back. Well, first you have to tie-up the suspect and throw him/her into a river. If such a person somehow survives, then it is an indication he/she is possessed and burning is to follow...

I've read that

the Vatican is only 2nd to the Queen in the amount of money they have. Even in comparison to the Rothchild's et al. Is this true? Who knows, but one thing seems apparent at least to me, the Vatican is among the global elite that seeks control of man and global power.

The Church rejects totalitarianism, communism, and socialism.

And it accepts Capitalism, albeit with some regulation. Here's the official position, directly from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

2425 The Church has rejected the totalitarian and atheistic ideologies associated in modem times with "communism" or "socialism." She has likewise refused to accept, in the practice of "capitalism," individualism and the absolute primacy of the law of the marketplace over human labor. Regulating the economy solely by centralized planning perverts the basis of social bonds; regulating it solely by the law of the marketplace fails social justice, for "there are many human needs which cannot be satisfied by the market." Reasonable regulation of the marketplace and economic initiatives, in keeping with a just hierarchy of values and a view to the common good, is to be commended.

In short

they reject the end goal ideals of the Bankster Elitists because they want all the control for themselves. At least depending on one's views of 'the church and 'her' actions throughout history.

This government

is antithetical to religion. I guess the Vatican has sold its soul to the devil.

I'm shocked!

shocked they would want to dis-arm all civillians, except, of course, the ones guarding their interests.

Vatican

does not trust its own local Catholic people for protection. Historically, Vatican hired Swiss private army so the Pope can be free regardless of people's mood on the ground.

The Catholic church supports the right to keep and bear arms:

For example:

"Legitimate defense can be not only a right but a grave duty for someone responsible for another's life, the common good of the family or of the state."

-- Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 2265

Also:

2263 The legitimate defense of persons and societies is not an exception to the prohibition against the murder of the innocent that constitutes intentional killing. "The act of self-defense can have a double effect: the preservation of one's own life; and the killing of the aggressor. . . . The one is intended, the other is not."

2264 Love toward oneself remains a fundamental principle of morality. Therefore it is legitimate to insist on respect for one's own right to life. Someone who defends his life is not guilty of murder even if he is forced to deal his aggressor a lethal blow:

If a man in self-defense uses more than necessary violence, it will be unlawful: whereas if he repels force with moderation, his defense will be lawful. . . . Nor is it necessary for salvation that a man omit the act of moderate self-defense to avoid killing the other man, since one is bound to take more care of one's own life than of another's.66

Yeah, I've always wondered

Yeah, I've always wondered how Thomas Woods can be such a great defender of liberty while at the same time a devout RC.

There is no contradiction.

The only papal pronouncements considered infallible.

All other announcement of the Vatican, are just that, another opinion, though one hopes, well reason. But don't bank on it.

I think most people in the Catholic church agree with you.

But there are some leftists in there who no doubt have an authoritarian bent. It's a mistake to extrapolate the behavior of those to the entire Church.

whoever seems to be putting out statements for the Vatican. lol

Sorry, but I was raised Catholic and there are enough arguments already written that hold my point of view that Catholicism is just another power structure. I appreciate your willingness to make that seem untrue, but I've read/heard it all before.

Unless it comes from the Pope in an official announcement ...

... this doesn't bind Catholics to agree.

There are a few issues that are intrinsically evil that faithful Catholics are not allowed to dissent on. Probably the most prominent is abortion. Gun control is not one of those issues.

There are, unfortunately, many liberals in administrative positions in the Church, as in most other organizations.

It's truly sad

that the Roman Catholic Church has become such a bastion for statists. If they actually started reading their bibles they could see that God condemns state worship.

Communism.

Have you read

the "Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church"?

Just read chapter six.

http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/justpe...

This isn't the Holy Roman Empire....

...

But of course.

The Catholic Church is one with the monied elite who want to rule the world. In fact Rome in its own way wants to rule the world via the church, and is using its influence to promote the global gun ban.

Don't forget,

The vatican also called for a global fiat currency controlled by the UN.
