If Ron Paul Had Been Elected What Would You Guess He'd Have Done So Far?

As commander-in-chief, I would think we'd have the troops already home or on their way home.

Bases all around the world would be closing.

Foreign aid would be cut off.

Obamacare would be in the process of being repealed.

There would be a bill to repeal the taxes on alternative currencies. (Step 1 to ending the Fed)

Dr. Paul would use the "bully pulpit" to lecture Americans about a free society and the importance of the 2nd amendment after Sandy Hook.

No federal aid for hurricane Sandy would be given out.

Probably tons of laws would be on their way to being repealed

5 departments would be on their way to being gotten rid of.

Who knows if there would be a rise in interest rates, bank failures, etc. I would suspect not yet but who knows. I don't think Dr. Paul would end the Fed overnight (he said he wouldn't) so it would probably take a little time for competing currencies to have an effect on interest rates.

Even if he did "nothing" it

Even if he did "nothing" it would still be better than what we have right now.

Most troops in the Middle

Most troops in the Middle East would still be there. Like it or not we can't just get up and leave in an instant. You'd have to give them probably 6 months of transition period (still good nonetheless). But troops in Germany, Japan, North Korea, everywhere else...they would have their orders already to come home. Bases would have the orders to begin shutting down.

Foreign aid would not be cutoff because that's a Congressional act. However, when it comes around again, he would veto it.

Obamacare would probably not be in the process of being repealed. I'm assuming Dems have the Senate. But given a national platform, I think Paul could have convinced the people to get behind him on it over time.

There would be a meeting between Paul and Bernanke. Paul basically telling him that let the interest rate freely adjust and do not lend anymore money. Bernanke can say no and probably will...BUT, in 2014 Paul could appoint Robert Murphy. Wouldn't that be amazing?!

Foreign Aid and Corporate Welfare,

according to Paul, "Now, this need for a transition period does not apply to all types of welfare. For example, I would have no problem defunding corporate welfare programs, such as the Export-Import Bank or the TARP bank bailouts, right away."

Congressional Act notwithstanding, the approved money is almost never paid in full, upfront, but partially over time. I took him to mean he could stop the remaining payments.

Excellent find-

If I understood it right on corporate welfare and foreign aid, he could, as President, stop any congressional funding yet to be paid out. Man, the repercussions...that could all but shut down SOFEX too.

-Immediately pardon all non-violent weed offenders.
-Having his new Attorney General appoint an independent FED auditor along with a special prosecutor to investigate the financial scandal of 2008. There's plenty more Special Prosecutors needed, but Paul's going to play it frugally.)
-Submit his budget to Congress.
-Instruct his Generals to begin withdrawals of troops from war zones and bases.
-Instruct the CIA their services are no longer needed (See Harry S. Truman letter.)
-Get rid of all those unconstitutional EOs.
-Disband/consolidate his list of Departments. Pink Slips.

After his first day in office, he dons his bullet proof vest, rides his stationary bike, or swims, while awaiting progress reports from his AG, Michael Schuerer, Col. Douglas McGregor, and all spending bills from congress to veto.

Day 2 he meets with the Govt Acct. Office to put right accounting procedures for Congress: Accrural system, what to include in inflation and unemployment figures, and the real debt figures in order that the American people understand why we need to liquidate most of it.

Woops-

Scratch disbanding/consolidation of Depts... takes Congress too. But he can refuse to fund vacated positions.

Dr. Paul is already bulletproof

He doesn't need a vest.

Although Benton apparently did.

Very little...

Considering the inauguration was only a day ago! :P

He wouldn't have spent $140 MILLION throwing himself a party

I imagine he would have made a YouTube video of himself getting inaugurated and posted it online.

Lots of things would happen:

And they would happen to the true benefit of the people.
But I would certainly be looking forward to the very public weekly straight talk.

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

given everyone peace of mind

knowing that the president isn't a tyrant.

I use Blue Wave, but don't expect one of THEIR silly taglines.

That would have been a very busy day

Officially, his first day on the job would have been today. Boy it's sad. I would have LOVED to have gone to that inauguration!!

William Wallace

man: William Wallace is seven feet tall.

ww: Yes, so I've heard. Kills men by the hundreds. And, if he were here, he'd consume the English with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse.

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

A few more things

I think he would've pardoned Bradley Manning and Julian Assange.

Many executive orders would be overturned

There would be a push to audit the gold in fort knox.
