The '49ers vs. The Ravens (or) Where America Stands In 2013

The United States find themselves at a major crossroads in the year 2013. What better way to understand it than through a football metaphor?

'49er - Name given to the thousands of Americans and others who left their homes and homelands to risk all in the lawless and uncharted gold fields of northern California in 1849.
Raven - One of eight subspecies of large black birds known for their omnivorous diet consisting of small rodents, carrion, and other 'low-hanging fruit'.

A gold mine has no value in and of itself. Even a million-ounce lode is worthless until a consciously-acting human being puts in the toil and sweat-equity necessary to locate the gold, extract it, refine it, weigh it, and bring it to market.
A large portion of the market value of gold or silver is understood to include ROEI - Return On Energy Invested. Without this initial investment of energy a gold nugget is nothing more than a pretty rock buried under tons of soil.
A dead animal, on the other hand, almost has negative value. It is unpleasant to look at, even more unpleasant to smell, and can even taint an entire stream of water causing disease and death.
The only creatures for which carrion do not have negative value are carrion-eaters such as the raven. Nature rarely provides a problem without simultaneously offering a solution, and for this reason we have reason to be thankful for ravens, vultures, and other animals of opportunity. However these animals often overstay their welcomes when the supply of carrion is depleted and they turn their eyes and stomachs to golden grains of the field.

America 2013 offers plenty of gold mines and carrion, and it is still anyone's guess who will prevail - the bottom-feeders or the value adders. Opportunity abounds for both as demonstrated by the battle for the GOP battle between two nominees - one an expert in the dismantling of failing or dead companies and the other a man whose highest ideal was for government to get out of the way of those willing to dig into the ground to see what they could find. That the eventual nominee, Mitt Romney, faced off against another representative of the carrion-eaters Barry S. Obama (to 'lose' soundly) may appear discouraging at first.
It does appear that the carcass cleaners will have their way with this country in 2013 and years to come. But I see a silver lining in this cloud of despair. For when the value-adders, the miners of gold who have had their hands tied for so long are finally able to overcome the swarm of ravens and do what needs to be done, as the birds of opportunity find the gold mines guarded and are forced to feed upon themselves till none are left,

everything will be fine.

Yay!!! Football

whoo hoo hoo!!!

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

go ravens

Actually I am more rooting against the 49ers

If you're for the 49ers, cool.

But that analogy is just crazy. Just say "GOOOO NINERS!!!"

Is it crazy???

...OR THE SANEST THING YOU'VE EVER READ!!! ???(ok it's a little crazy...)

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

I love both teams, but Joe Flacco's my man.

No predictions except a no more than a 1 touchdown victory by either team, with a field goal more likely.

BTW, that postings such as this using "football metaphors" get huge followings, but well-documented "conspiracy theories" and "paranormal activities" get bashed tells you more about America and subscribers at the DAILY PAUL than your posting.

HA you van take your

HA you van take your degenerate communist city and Nancy Pelosi and shove it up your @$$! RAVENS!

I share your sentiment about about the Ravens.

However, I lived in Baltimore in 9 years and the people, almost without exception, were obnoxious, selfish jackasses.

On the other hand, I visited San Francisco frequently when I lived in Mountain View, and I never met a single person who was not polite and loving. Not to mention, during the deep, dark days of the Great Depression, home owners in Marin County mortgaged their homes to build the Golden Gate Bridge. I will take these "communists" over the "crony capitalists" of Baltimore any time.

I've lived both places too,

I've lived both places too, they're really nice in SF until you say something politically incorrect. Humorless people.

I'm sorry but you seem to have missed the point of my article...

Thanks. Even though it should have been the Packers...

this little story would not exist if it had turned out that way.

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.
