The price of matching funds

For those who wonder why Ron Paul won't take federal matching funds, there are several very good reasons.

First, it is contrary to his philosophy of government.

Second, it isn't a dollar for dollar match, from what I have been able to learn, it is something like up to $250 per donor.

Third, money from the government always comes with strings attached. In this case, there are strings about how much can be spent when and where. Good fundraisers don't take matching funds because they no longer have control over how they spend their money.

There is probably more to it than even this if someone who know cares to add to the requirements, but for me it is enough to say. If Dr. Paul need campaign funds, it is up to us to supply them. If you can't contribute to the campaign, put in your time and energy. However, or whatever your neighbors have or haven't heard about Ron Paul, seeing a real supporter makes a big difference in their impression of him as a viable contender.
