Rand Paul: An attack on Israel is an attack on the United States

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul took what very well could be considered his most pro-Israel stance yet, saying in an interview that an attack on Israel should be treated as an attack on the United States.

Asked whether the United States would stand with Israel and provide it foreign aid if the Jewish state were attacked by its enemies, Paul went a step further.

“Well absolutely we stand with Israel,” he said in an interview with Breitbart News, “but what I think we should do is announce to the world – and I think it is pretty well known — that any attack on Israel will be treated as an attack on the United States.”

I'm remaining skeptical of Rand

This comment though, has removed any chance he had of getting any donations from me.

The Revolution Continues..

Rand Paul's comment on Israel

I supported Rand Paul and contributed my hard earned money to his campaign as he was running for the Senate. I hear from some people that he has to "play the game" and that he is really not the "Israel at any cost" politician as are most Neo-Cons.

However, at this point I've decided to withold support because I Just don't trust him too much. I WILL be watching closely, but my money will stay in my pocket!!!

Blind Support of Israel leads to unexpected consequences

Just so there is no uncertainty on the stance taken by Dr. Paul.

You can't take a side and then expect to play the peacemaker and if you are not playing the peacemaker, then you are likely helping to fuel war and conflict...

He has to...

To think that we can get dozens of millions of people behind us for some future presidential candidate is very wishful. Rand Paul is making an effort to become mainstream enough to not be immediately dismissed. He makes a point of clarifying that he thinks Israel is our ally in order to not be thrown down in the GOP when he simultaneously calls for an end to foreign aid to Israel (which runs about 5 Billion dollars annually). I think it's politically strategic to assert alliances with Israel (within the GOP), so as to avoid the false "Anti-Israel", "Anti-Semitic", and "Isolationist" labels.

Some may not agree..

but I think you're right Utah Guy. It's our duty to remain vigilant and never get so cozy with our elected leaders that we give them our full trust.

Here in Texas, everyone in the GOP is climbing onboard with Ted Cruz, but I don't entirely trust him either.

Watch Rand watch Ted..watch them all, but remember that politics is a team sport and if he were to voice that he wouldn't support Israel (constitutionally and not by executive force), in a time of conflict, he would never make it through the GOP. Unfortunately, there is no 3rd party here so our options are limited.

To each his own, I'm still sticking with Rand.

"Liberty For All"

cutting off aid is a joke

he says israel is at the bottom of the list & he wouldn't expect to see it in his lifetime.

rand is certainly a "politician" and knows how to BS.

Whoa! Quite different from his Dad.

as someone who ran as a delegate for Ron Paul, I know where he stands on the issue. The fact is...Israel IS our ally. The fact this got downvoted almost 100 times is pathetic. Come on people grow up! He is a politician...what is he going to say "Screw Israel"?

How about this for an answer?

He could have said: I consider Israel an important ally of the United States. However, my primary duty is to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States. If Israel was attacked, my colleagues and I in congress would determine if a declaration of war was warranted in response.

Something similar to what I wrote above beats the hell out of what he said. Israel is not just an ally, it is a puppet master. Have you ever heard any U.S. politician say that any attack on Turkey will be considered an attack on the United Staes? I mean, Turkey is our ally, right?

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

This is the best and most intelligent answer I have heard yet on Israel.

Screw it, Matt_ for president 2016!

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

Who are you that Israel is

Who are you that Israel is your ally? A neo-con? Do you realize that Christian Zionism kept Ron Paul out of the White House?

I'm gonna get down voted

I'm gonna get down voted but...
Another thing that kept him out of the white house were some of his supporters / campaign folks that ticked people off. For example, all the down voting & personal attacks on here might tick someone off. This is nothing compared to what has happened outside of DP. Some people in the movement (especially campaign staff) have done some really nasty things to the point some thought they were intentionally chasing away potential supporters.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. - Matthew 10:16

liberals and many libertarians who followed and still follow ron paul, now view him as a threat to things they hold dear.

Liberals involved themselves in Ronnies campaigns not understanding his view of the Constitution nor his economic policy.
They infiltrated and created another rally just before Paul, at the RNC in Tampa and sheep followed just as they had expected.
But dont worry.
This WONT happen to Rand and Rand is shucking libs and most libertarians as we speak. They will be replaced with conservatives, tea partiers, constitutionalists and republicans who were disenfranchised by the amt of libs in Rons campaigns- and were turned off by their presence- so stayed home.

awww c'mon. It's not RP supporters that kept Ron Paul out of the White House. It's his supporters that kept him in the game long after the establishment wished he were gone. His policies, especially his foreign policy platform was in direct opposition to what the elites would allow. Ron Paul is respected all over the world because he did NOT play the game to get elected. He tried to beat the elite at their own game and was very successful because he has such a loyal following. Rand is a player, a politician, and is currying favour to draw Ron's supporters into line with established GOP thinking it is a strategy to get elected. I'm not sure that Rand even understands his father's point of view.

Rand recognizes Israel as an

Rand recognizes Israel as an obvious Western ally and people get their panties all in a bunch over it. That doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

Israel is America's ALLY! NOT OUR EMEMY!

What in God's name do you want Rand to do? Say, "no, we don't have your back, fend for yourselves." Like that would be a really smart thing to do.

Take your downvotes and shove them up your rears.

If the Liberty Movement can't get behind our own ally in Israel, we deserve to be defeated.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

Israel is an ally to the

Israel is an ally to the Neocons because it gives them the pretext and the votes domestically to continue their world war of conquest. Israel is not an ally to the United States. Israel gives the neocons a guarunteed base of support to make sure people like Ron Paul cannot be elected.

..more like our ugly cousin.

I would be careful not to blankly support or praise Israel without at least a grain of salt.

Israels statements and actions against it's neighbors and Lebanese is nothing to be aligned with.

There are all kinds of shows, programs, and clips showing the ugly behavior of Israel (and that's putting it lightly). Some links for this are below.

If one is Jewish, they may be a bit biased and blind to criticisms of Israel.

If one is Christian, they may be conflicted with the idea that Jerusalem is no longer in the hands of the middle east, yet Israel is definitely not Christian.

Also, strictly speaking, Israel is not an "ally", and Rand didn't call them an ally.
From what I understand, the word "ally" is used in these situations when there is an allegiance, and that means more than just support. Our membership in the U.N. is more of an allegiance.

How is Israel our ally?

There are many things that Israel has done *to* the US (spying, selling our military tech, influencing our FP, dual citizenship, USS Liberty, among others), but what exactly have they done *for* us? Has Israel even so much as signed a treaty with the US?

IIRC, in another thread your reasoning before was because they have "western values", Israel is automatically our ally against some continued Cold War against Russia. Sorry, but I don't buy it at all. If anything, we're "allied" with Israel because of their proximity to oil. Like the British Empire before us, we're over there to steal resources and cut up the land.

Which leads me to ask...what exactly are "western values", anyway? If it's the love of blowing up Arabs, and stealing land from native peoples, then yes, Israel and the US share the same "western values".

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of entangling alliances. I don't care what Israel does, as long as it doesn't involve dragging the US into it.

A signature used to be here!

Unless, Rand is completely Ignorant towards

the whole geopolitical scheme, which I highly doubt, his statement shows he has been converted to a Zionist. Now, he has set himself up to being a hypocrite, saying he wants to end the Rothschild's Fed, but willing to use our money, lives, and risk national security to defend Rothschild's state, Israel. Those who fail to understand what Zionism trully is will not trully uderstand the true ramifications. He should have never journeyed to Israel, especially with the evangelical group, and definitely not met with the Rabbi's who are masters of Talmudic deception along with Kabbalah majik. Zionism is a political belief, but Christians who have been brainwashed by their Judas ministry who preach from a Rothschild inspired Apostate book, Scofield's Reference Bible, believe it's a religous issue. If you are a Christian, by reading Rev 2:9 and 3:9 tells us ese occupyers of Palestine are imposters. There is absolutely no basis in the teachings of Christ, as His followers create His Holy Land wherever they reside. What has been deleted from the history books is, that when the Puritans arrived to America they called it the New Jerusalem of Christ. Though, our government and the Constition is not created as a pure Christian basis, the Puritans where the main group who gave us equal justice by demanding the separation of power and the Bill of Rights. The revisonists who want to destroy Christianity along with our Republic have wiped these empirical facts from historical account. I'm not stating we need a theocracy run government, but when this country was a majority of devout True Chritianity, American society was a more cohesive undivided and less evil nation. For those who are non-Christians who are united in Liberty, unless we deprogramme the brainwashed Zionist Christians and bring them back to the True Message of Christ, we will fail to institute a return to a Constitutional Republic in a peaceful manner. Rand Paul, who has been the remaining hope for this cause, has just basically sold this method out. Unless he quickly recants his statement, he will be hit by a barage of Zionist Christian ministery to join their social programs of legislating their ills (statism) along with an aggressive foreign policy to protect Israel, which will be pressed by the Neo-com Trotskyite Jews. Rand has fallen for their trap, and will begin to be boxed in, where his message will become closer to Rubio, and distant from Dr Ron Paul's.
If you haven't watched this documentary video about Christian Zionism belief system and why they support war, be sure to watch it, whether Christian or not, to better understand this issue. http://vimeo.com/29901084

I know what Rand is trying to do...

but he's going way over the top with it.

an attack on israel

is an attack on israel. i read that somewhere this morning & thought it brilliant.

besides how many nuke weapons do they have 300? or so.

rand is in another world these days and it is a very ugly world, gruesome in fact.

The Gary Johnson position

That Israel is an ally that would allow the US to spend less on defense by providing intelligence etc. while sharing many values about free speech etc.
