Rand Paul: An attack on Israel is an attack on the United States

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul took what very well could be considered his most pro-Israel stance yet, saying in an interview that an attack on Israel should be treated as an attack on the United States.

Asked whether the United States would stand with Israel and provide it foreign aid if the Jewish state were attacked by its enemies, Paul went a step further.

“Well absolutely we stand with Israel,” he said in an interview with Breitbart News, “but what I think we should do is announce to the world – and I think it is pretty well known — that any attack on Israel will be treated as an attack on the United States.”

An attack on Israel

Who's going to attack Israel and their 300 nuclear weapons? NO ONE.

This is a non-issue. NEXT!

Who's going to cut aid to Israel?? RAND PAUL!!

it seem rand disagrees with you

and cutting aid. never gonna happen and he knows damn well it isn't. "...not in my lifetime" sheesh,
just what we need another politician who will say anything, pander shamelessly ..haven't we been around that mulberry bush enough?

Or someone wouldve already

It's not like Israels enemies don't have conventional missile technology capable of striking Israels nuclear weapons storage facilities. Iran, for example, doesn't need a nuclear missile to nuke Israel. Iran has conventional missiles capable of shooting Israel right square in the nukes. They aren't doing that because there would be nuclear fallout throughout the entire region. Nuclear fallout. Ain't nobody got time for that. lol

Cut aid to Israel? Rand? Get real. He has ambitions.

Don't hold your breath about

Don't hold your breath about Rand. He is not one of us anymore.

Hoping you are wrong

I hear from some that Rand is only playing the game.
Hope you are wrong about Rand Paul, but at this point, I suspect he is not like his father. I think he wants to be president and probably is seizing an opportunity by piggybacking on his dad's reputation. Although I contributed to his campaign for Senate, I am not thinking I was wrong about him. If I had to bet, I'd bet he is a zionist Christian and believes the same as most Baptists and Pentecostals. Wonder if he will get an endorsement from John Hagee??? If he does, we will know for sure:)

It isn't what we don't know that gives us trouble,
It's what we do know that ain't so .... Will Rogers

I hope I am wrong about Rand

I hope I am wrong about Rand too, but he has changed ever since the air force one flight with Obama. I also supported him for Senate, but endorsing Romney was a key clue.

PS: Will Rogers is a close cousin!

IN ISRAEL, RAND PAUL TRIES TO SHED RON PAUL'S POOR RECORD

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2013/01/10/Rand-Paul-Trie...

Are you for Ron or for Rand? Israel first or the USA first?

As Ron pointed out, We help Israel's enemies more than we help Israel.

Why then exactly did Ron have a bad record on Israel? What happened to our narrative and why has Rand abandoned it? Why are the neocons behind Rand?

I am for me first

I find and have found this

I find and have found this slavish genuflection to a foreign state as utterly preposterous and quite sickening. It’s ironic that those who self-identify as fervent American patriots are the most fervent in support of another state. An easy prey to the powers of folly, these jubilant and boastful patriots command a measure of absurdity grievously in error. It appears Rand has, in the words of Russell Kirk, “mistook Tel Aviv for the capital of the United States."

malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

I am an aristocrat. I love liberty; I hate equality. - John Randolph of Roanoke

Rand's oath of office

The oath talks about true faith and allegiance to the UNITED STATES and defending the constitution against enemies, foreign and domestic. I don't think the oath or the constitution it refers to ever mentions defending Israel.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

No to The Judge for President

I wouldn't want even my worst enemy to run for president. What a waste of effort. Dr. Ron Paul's mistake was that he didn't quit sooner. His best years for us are ahead now that he's, so-called, retired. Besides, he's going to enjoy himself more too. Judge NAPOLITANO will do a lot more good staying out of the White House. It won't be long before our federal government collapses under the weight of its own excrement. It'll be for the best because what goes up must come down.

What if the ran together

Real (ahem) Dollars vs Words

Actually cutting foreign aid would be an immediate benefit.
Saying words of support to make the cut, is probably, sadly necessary.

Remember, these are all words at this point.

From a public awareness viewpoint, verbally running at the front of the pro-Israel Americans while dishing a "cut foreign aid" message is a great way to get everyone to look at cutting foreign aid.

It is an Ironic message, that gets people to think.

The serious pro-Israel harts and minds are not going to change much.
..but if you can cut the foreign aid.. O.k.

Are you saying

Rand is a liar?

he claimed to know

nothing about the mistreatment of his dad's supporters at the RNC. if that isn't lying what is?

Oh, I agree

I'm just amazed by folks who defend Rand by claiming that he's REALLY just lying and will rise up as a great defender of liberty when the time is right, ignoring that the right time came and went.

Garan's picture

I think and speak for me, not Rand.

However things may look, there is no way for me (or even anyone one on DailyPaul) to know what Rand actually thinks.

He might fully actually support Israel, just not with foreign aid.

I am presenting the perspective that if anyone is trying to make the cuts to foreign aid, this might be a great way to do it; giving verbal support while cutting aid.

When it comes down to it, it matters more what a person does, than what they say. Beliefs and words change over time, even with "good" people. You just never know if people are going to come through until they actually do. That applies to everyone, regardless of their genuineness.

My conclusion is that I would accept what Rand says about this issue from face value alone. It's probably the best bet to cut foreign aid.

I good dad might say: "I love you, little boy/nation, but you need to support yourself."

Let's just forget about Rand

Admit that the kid is a disappointment and move on. There's plenty more work for the liberty movement to do and we need representatives that are serious about liberty and peace. Not this stuff that Rand is into with Israel and all of this nonsense. It's just not what's needed. To the Rand defenders: No I'm not saying that he's the worst person ever, no I don't believe that he's part of the 'NWO' or any conspiracy, yes he's probably the best person left in Congress. But he's just NOT A LIBERTARIAN. I don't need to waste my time pulling for a careerist politician who's only relatively decent by terrible modern standards. I only want to dedicate my time to people who are completely genuine and focused on defending liberty before anything else. Can we please just admit that's not what Rand is and move on? It doesn't mean we want to burn him at the stake or anything.

Here here

Let's move on. Rand is as relevant as yesterday's newspaper. He will NEVER get the support of the majority of Ron Paul supporters and is only divisive and we need to abandon him for this is what he supports:

"No physical quantity explains it's own existence, and no amount of time can consume an infinite series of events to bring you to the present, which means all of these somewhere have to be explained by one self-existent cause which is not physical."

This is just rhetoric

Folks here forget that life of EVERY American is pledged to defend Turkey, Croatia, Slovakia, Germany, Japan, etc.

There is no such an agreement with Israel. Talk is just talk, while USA is paying for defense of dozens of countries, NATO members and others.

+++ Real help to Israel is to implement RON Paul's ideas - end foreign aid to all, defund UN, do not interfere into other nations politics. Then Israel will get ahead. But the hate suffocates our anti-Semites to the point they lose perspective.

nice work trying to pin anti Semitism on everyone who thinks

only an attack on the United States is an attack on the United States.

Integrity means having to say things that people don't want to hear & especially to say things that the regime doesnt want to hear -RonPaul

But you are the one who

either do not think or cannot think. If your statement were true, you would be upset about Turkey more than Israel.

But back to my argument. Ask Abbas, Hamas, Egypt, Jordan or Saudi Arabia whether they like RON PAUL plan or not - 1) end US aid to all; 2) defund UN; 3) do not interfere in their regional politics and fight. You would learn that Arabs need NWO.

Therefore, if you have any logic and are against Israel, you should be against Ron Paul's foreign policy. If you are against Jews, in general, you should be against free-market capitalism.

Not necessarily. Because

Not necessarily. Because while the statements by Rand are "just words" the likelihood of going to war for Israel(if we haven't already) is EXTREMELY HIGH. So ANY bond with them, even a verbal indication of future action, is very dangerous.

Whereas no one will attack Turkey(except Israel). Im sure our NATO treaty means we will go save Turkey from Israel LOL.
