$16,500,000,000,000 later: THIS is why we're poor.

I didn't realize that minimum wage was so high in 1960. Imagine getting a silver dollar an hour for flipping burgers. These days thats like $50,000 a year.

Thats a pretty good...

correlation.

$50K was a LOT of money 50 years ago. You would have been a pharmacist, a doctor, or a wall street broker back then.

Funny, that's where the money is today...but its more like $150K a year now.

The truth is, we've spent our money and the, yet to be printed, money of our grandchildren on terror, wars, and drugs.

The rich and elite oil barons have squashed the forward technology and controlled the population's minds by creating a "altered" America strung out on their drugs and TV with its mass media, sports, and "Idol"ized survivor and hero joe shmoe attractions.

The oil barons own the banks. 300 million dollars a day for 25-30 years buys a LOT of clout on the world stage. They own the banks; the IDF, the World Bank. Our money at the pump and sacrifice of a more technological future was not enough as they had to control the slave debt of our grandchildren, too.

Enough of my rant. Pretty good thread, I thought.

Stop oil. Stop WAR.

9/11 Truth.

Seeing the junk silver articles

reminded me of this one. Junk silver has basically maintained purchasing power parity with the stock market since 1970.

Plus we are now $50B+ over the debt ceiling limit.

Oh, but the House just past a 4-month no debt limit extension that makes this big ugly number all better. Never mind.

Its almost like you're at a party

and it's 4:30am, and work starts at 6:15. Why even bother going to bed?

We're so far down the toilet, what would sudden responsibility really buy us?

Stop! Yer mixing metaphors. Making yer self sick. - Hostess

Hostess: Howdy. A young feller like yer self might be needing refreshing. [Curtsy] On the house.

The people who were making

The people who were making Model Ts lived a life of luxury before the days of minimum wage. I believe they were making around $5k per week adjusted for inflation. Maybe more.

I want to say it was five bucks a day minimum for those guys

5 bucks a day, 6 days a week is 1.5 gold double eagles, or about $2500 in todays money. If you weren't a shop floor wrench turner, I can easily see $5k a week.

Where have all the good people gone?

If the communists could hoodwink hundreds of millions I guess things might very well continue on as before.

Remember.....missing 3 days of work was grounds to send you to a camp :/

When the financial sector quadruples

and consumer debt multiplies geometrically, you don't even have to wonder where all the money went. Straight to the guys printing all the money.
