Anybody notice the change in order

When the debates began, the #1 issue was the Iraq conflict. 70% of Americans wanted us out - now! (or so their polls said) Ron Paul was gathering momentum because he was the only one advocating doing just this. Don't think the neo cons didn't notice this. So what do they do? They have the press "turn down the volume" of the war, and create a new #1 issue......it's the economy, stupid! Nobody's talking about Iraq any longer in this campaign. Who lost the advantage? Ron Paul. Is this coincidence? Me thinks not. What to do now......Ron is no dummy on economics either. I think he can re-gain momentum by seizing the economy issue too. Now's a great time to hammer away at the Federal Reserve and who they represent. Bank failures, foreign buyers stepping in, more phoney money, falling dollar. Most people don't understand what's going on, just like they didn't about Iraq for a few years, but after a while, and some "education", not only do the get it, they don't like it!

Economic Issues

Thank you for starting one of the few meaningful threads with the exception of the fthose on upcoming caucuses and primaries plus fund raising.

Yes, I suppose we have all noticed the huge shift in media emphasis and candidate sound-bytes. While the war has faded from the forefront, "terrorism" is hit daily as it keeps the evil military-industrial complex with its illegal shifting of funds to covert actions and war-mongering well and alive. Meanwhile by keeping the "fear factor"on the burner, the Patriot Act and all that goes along with it insures that the real plan for Homeland Security continues to move forward. (I've read recently that some high schools are allowing classes on Homeland Security because *working* for it has been earmarked as the biggest growing job market. What regimes does that smack of?)

Add to *that* keeping alive yet another of the largest growing job markets and influx and shifting of capitol..."disaster readiness and management" which lines yet more pockets that are hardly labeled properly. And, keep environmental issues on the front burner as this is yet another prong in the shifting of funds. (Note that I believe there are major environmental issues, just not those being touted or funded.)

The challenge is how to address the real economic crisis, which only Dr. Paul can, without being cut off at the bend by media and "other" candidate twisting of Ron Paul's stance on immediate concerns like... "what about my social security, my old age pension, my health care concerns?" It seems that in order to try to say what he will do, he has to continuously address what he won't do. His *message* is so difficult to get out there because all of the issues are intertwined and, yet, they all really go back to sound fiscal policy.

Ron Paul's Message

has always been about the economy. When he talks about the Iraq War or the Middle East in general, he mentions the economic costs as well as the cost in lives; when he talks about illegal immigration he mentions the economic costs, etc.

The economy is huge - the war is causing it

Ron Paul predicted all this, we just ran an ad about all his predictions and how all of this is coming true right now.

The war is still big and it links right to the economy - The war is causing the United States to go broke and is creating a crash.

When the Iraq conflict was the number 1 topic

Ron stood out easily. He is the only one advocating shutting down the Iraq war - now. But now, the topics are drifting on to the economy, where the neo cons can razzle dazzle with all their barometers and guages of activity, most of which are pure B.S. But the point is, the topic is now moving to an abstact subject in which the establishment can easily manipulate the masses because we sure don't understand the economy..........even to the point of promising to give everybody a $800 check! How's that for political timing. They want you to forget about Ron Paul and concentrate on when you'll get your $800 check from our Great Government.

It's bigger than that.

Here is an excellent overview of the sudden disappearance of the Iraq War.

"Who lost the advantage? Ron

"Who lost the advantage? Ron Paul."

Well...if the number one issue is the economy then either his message isn't getting out, or people are stupid.

and what is the biggest problem with the economy .. the iraq war

They shouldn't be able to win no matter how they spin it.

FED

The FED is the biggest problem with the economy. Paperback. The Size and Scope of the central govt. of which spending in general and military spending included is only a part.

We need to hit the economy....

....even my neo-con friends are concerned about it.
