Puzzling observers over who would be prosecuted, authorities in charge of the Sandy Hook investigation have opened the door to prosecutions.
(CNN) - It may be June or later before authorities investigating last month's Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting decide whether they will pursue criminal charges in the massacre, which killed 27 people, including 20 young children.
Danbury State's Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky, who heads up the criminal investigation, said Thursday that "no such prosecution currently appears on the horizon."
But he added that "all leads need to be investigated and evidence examined before final decisions and statements are made."
The prime suspect, Adam Lanza, is dead. Who is there left to prosecute?
No one is holding their breath, but one piece of information which has yet to be released is if Lanza were on any kind of psych meds, some now known to be causally linked to episodes of suicide and violence. Doctors and researchers such as Dr. Peter Breggin, founder of the International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology, have accused pharmaceuticals manufactures of being well aware of the causal links but engaging in a powerful industry cover-up.
Dr. Breggin has said:
"There is overwhelming evidence that the SSRIs and other stimulating antidepressants cause suicidality and aggression in children and adults of all ages."
“Violence and other potentially criminal behavior caused by prescription drugs are medicine’s best kept secret,”
Numerous reports indicate that Lanza was or had been on some form of psychiatric medication. The Los Angeles Times reported that Lanza's former babysitter said Lanza was on some sort of medication since age 10. The former baby sitter, Ryan Kraft, who is now an aerospace engineer in Hermosa Beach, told the LA Times:
"I know there was something administered. I'm not sure what."
And the Washington Post reported on the day of the shootings that a Lanza neighbor said he was on some form of medication.
It was reported that police had issued search warrants for Lanza's medical records as early as the day ofter the shooting, and although information related to the weapons used was released immediately, authorities have yet to announce pertinent psychiatric medical information.
Instead, the chief coroner in the case, Wayne Carver, has taken the far more controversial and scientifically inconclusive step of ordering DNA testing on Lanza for genetic abnormalities, which scientists almost unanimously scorn as an exercise in futility.
Robert Nussbaum, a geneticist at the University of California, San Francisco, told Bloomberg News:
“It’s a shot in the dark that’s unlikely to show anything...If they find something associated with autism, I’m afraid that it might have the effect of stigmatizing autistic people. I can see a whole morass coming out of this.”
In his article "The Batman Shooter and His Psyche Drugs," Dr. Gary G. Kohls, MD, detailed the research on thousands of recorded incidents of violence linked to SSRIs. Referring to the website ssristories.com, Dr. Kohls said readers can find:
"a collection of 4,800+ damning, mostly criminal news stories about the behavioral and psychic toxicity of antidepressants. These are documented examples of psychotropic drug-induced violence that have made it into the media...The thousands of examples reported on that website represent just the tip of what surely is an enormous iceberg, since even the FDA estimates that as many as 99% of adverse events from any given drug is never reported to that agency.
In a January 2011, article entitled "Top Ten Legal Drugs Linked to Violence," Time Magazine named 31 drugs that are disproportionately linked with violent behavior.
Dr. Kohls has listed 40 cases of violent crimes or suicides associated with psychiatric drugs, including Columbine and the Batman shooter:
Eric Harris age 17 (first on Zoloft then Luvox) and Dylan Klebold aged 18 (Colombine school shooting in Littleton, Colorado), killed 12 students and 1 teacher, and wounded 23 others, before killing themselves. Klebold’s medical records have never been made available to the public.
