My husband and I have wondered if the popularity of "extreme sports" is not a part of the depopulation agenda. You've got SSRIs for those who feel bad, and extreme sports for those who feel good. When my husband and I started kayaking, we would take 3 day river trips and never see another soul. Now they have these boats where you don't need to know anything about reading whitewater or have any boating skills, and you can go run world class whitewater and USUALLY live to tell the tale. It is about an annual event here in "Whitewater Heaven" (aka Idaho) that someone will go buy a new toy for the family and kill themselves or someone they love. Locals treat us like wussies because we have a simple rule of thumb: If we don't want to swim it, we don't boat it. We spent a lot of time purposely floating rapids in our life-jackets until we were comfortable swimming in some pretty big stuff, but I hope to never run a Class 6!
