Pastor Who Left Sanctimonious Tip Gets Waitress Fired from Applebee’s

After a copy of her Applebee's receipt began circulating online yesterday, Pastor Alois Bell of the St. Louis-based Truth in the World Deliverance Ministries phoned up the restaurant and asked to have everyone involved fired.

See the receipt!

This man is not a TRUE Christian.

What a d*ck.

lol. Just realized it's a she. What a big biaatch.

Women should not be pastors.

Women should not be pastors. I'm not sure how any woman that is can justify being one when the bible says they shouldn't be. And I'm not sure how any congregation could sit there and listen to her retarded ass.

What an idiot!

He makes Christians look bad. If the idiot would understand that the tipping procedure is to ensure good service. If the wage of the server was paid by the restaurant, the food prices would be higher and the service may not be good. That is the whole point of tipping. The waitstaff only makes about $2.50 an hour...enough to cover her taxes and is in fact at a higher tax bracket because of the tips. Everyone should do this for a day. It's not as easy as it looks.

Not that this matters much, but, well... (if only to avoid further confusion)... I guess it's silly/lame enough, already ;)

Well...

...I hope God makes that person feel the same when the offering basket goes around. Maybe all the people will give their $ to God in another form...like helping a poor person. Then that pastor can see what it feels like to work for nothing...lol.

I'm so glad he turned the other cheek.

Any time you walk into a

Any time you walk into a restaurant, keep in mind that you are saving 15 to 20% on your food costs because your server is working for slave wages ($2.13 per hour in Texas)… Then decide what you want to do with that 15 to 20% based on the quality of service that you receive :)

I tip 20% at least. Usually

I tip 20% at least. Usually more. I dunno what is wrong with people. I'm poor as shit but I know they need their tips. A person of "God" is gonna deny someone their already due, printed out, included in your party's price "gratuity"? And let's not call this a tip. It's called a gratuity. When a restaurant has to expend one of their employees on a large party and thus they are not able to serve other tables, they want to make sure that their employee is properly compensated. Thus it is a gratuity, not a tip. It is automatically added to the bill. So that bitch "preacher" should shut her fucking mouth and pay up like any other normal, nice, honest person. If she wants to pay 10% of her already derived from other people's 10% to God then so be it. Keep it to yourself and and pay your tab and move on, asshole.

BTW, Why does the pastor pay 10% when everyone else's 10% is paying her salary? What is her 10% going to? How stupid.

That's a fairly steep bill

That's a fairly steep bill for a restaurant like that. Maybe he had a few too many to wash down his supper?

It was a she, but yeah. 36

It was a she, but yeah. 36 bucks at Applebees? I think she had a few drinks in there... What a "woman" of god.

The waitress added gratuity

The waitress added gratuity on what looks to be a single patrons bill. This is not ethical and is likely why she was fired.

The tithe is in no way comparable to a gratuity. The tithe of 10% is based on payment to the Levites for the administration of the sacraments for Israel. The Levites were the priesthood. They could not earn a traditional living.

See Hebrews 7:5

Both the server, and the non ordained pastor were wrong.

No.. It was a split check.

No.. It was a split check. Meaning that different people in the group wanted to pay for their portion of the bill individually. This does not void the company policy that when there are 8 or more people at a table, a gratuity of 18% will be added to the bill. This policy is also stated on the bottom right hand corner of the menu. When this group of people sat down at the table and ordered food, they entered into an agreement with the restaurant to pay for their food and drinks by the prices stated in the menu, and to pay the 18% gratuity which is also stated in the menu.

What is unethical is that this woman did not honor a contract that she entered when she placed her order.

What is utterly pathetic is that you somehow find justification for this in biblical text.

You must be a member of her church.

The Op headline is wrong, and

The Op headline is wrong, and the story was misreported.

Your explanation of the gratuity is right on and should have been honored and paid by the patrons.

There was no justification in my post for the pastors actions. You made that up. What I listed was a scripture reference as explanation for a 10% tithe to the church. I explained the tithe to show how unrelated it is to a gratuity. This was far from a justification of the pastors actions.

As to my being a member of her church. That's just a provocative statement that doesn't seek to inform. It's based on a misunderstanding of my post.

Where is your scripture about

Where is your scripture about women not being pastors? Did that one slip by you?

Specific questions get specific answers

There was no question, or an interest at the time of my post, about whether or not women should be pastors. I answered a specific question about the origin of the tithe.

It is not appropriate for me to preach about inflammatory church issues in this forum.

Sorry.

I misread your comment and apologize for my language. Thank you for sharing that information.

Apology accepted

You're wrong. Yes Headline is confusing.

The computer adds the auto-gratuity charge to the bill. Servers have no say.

Restaurant policy is clearly a 18% fee for large parties.

It wasn't the server that posted this photo but a friend who outed the injustice.

Wow.

What a wonderful "pastor"! All over a few measly bucks!

Alois Bell:

Once, i read in the bible that the rabblerousing branch asked Jesus what he thought about tributes to the Caeser of the time. He asked to see a coin, and then asked whose image was on it. The ignorant didn't understand, and the rebbelious still don't get it; His simple response.
GIVE UNTO CAESER WHAT IS CAESER'S AND GIVE TO GOD WHAT IS GOD'S, or something like that.
If you worship money, and are willing to spend money for the purpose of having other people 'serve' you, ALOIS BELL, expect to PAY the money that you worship WITHOUT PROTEST to others that worship it as much as YOU DO.
This act by this woman is a SIN, unworthy of any defence in the eyes of the GOD that CREATED her.
SILLY WOMAN!

Another

powerful lesson on cell phone cameras, the internet, and blowback. Cheap ass pastor knows from the menu that a gratuity is almost always added for larger parties.

I always try to tip at least 20-25% but I don't eat out that much. I treated my stepdad to a jaw dropping seafood dinner the other night in anticipation of this diet we have all embarked on. It was a good "last hoorah." Lobster, crab, shrimp, scallops, buttered everything, key lime pie, triple chocolate brownie, and some apple thing with ice cream and caramel....mmmmmm..Our waiter gave us the desserts for free for some reason, so I made his tip 25% (cash, so no IRS).

Now it's

Lemon Juice
Bentonite Clay
Kale Smoothies
No wheat
Limited sugar.
blechh...I am starting to feel better though.

Woo hoo! @ kale smoothies. I

I thought my smoothies could be a challenge to get down sometimes. That must be something else.

party of 8 or more...

18% tip is automatic...the bill is 35 bux....did 18 people have coffee and pie...

Probably individual checks

Probably individual checks for each customer. If this woman is too cheap so tip, it's doubtful that she pays for anyone else's lunch...

Right on!

Both the waitress and pastor acted unethically if not immoralyl: The waitress for adding an 18 percent tip to a small bill/likely small party and posting the signed receipt online, and the pastor for being unChristian-like and not consulting the Applebee's manager at the restaurant before writing the self-righteous note.
