Rand Paul convinces Mitch McConnell to come out for legalizing industrial hemp!

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday came out in support of developing industrial hemp in Kentucky, becoming the most powerful voice to back the state's contentious effort.

"I am convinced that allowing its production will be a positive development for Kentucky’s farm families and economy," McConnell said in a statement. "The utilization of hemp to produce everything from clothing to paper is real and if there is a capacity to center a new domestic industry in Kentucky that will create jobs in these difficult economic times that sounds like a good thing to me."

McConnell joins fellow Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (R), half of the state's six-member congressional delegation and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce in supporting the push.

In his announcement, McConnell cited conversations with Paul and Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, a longtime advocate of legalized hemp, saying they'd led him to reverse his previous opposition.

have the facts on hemp changed in the last 20 years,,,, anyone with commonsense has said this for years

so now mcConnel is on the hot seat---relection ,,and he just happens to take this stance,,,,, in my eyes to seem more liberty,,,or tea party

he s a hypocrite,,, and i bet benton told him to take this position

mcConnel is a piece of garbage and i'm not fooled

tour state by state.. tom woods shared on facebook. he didn't have a big role in ron paul's campaign but it looks like iowa's ron paul people eying rand's 2016 run are inviting woods for a national speaking tour to, i'm guessing here, conventional gathering places of neocons like republican meetings and clubs

why is it that only news bashing ron paul republicans appear on dp? the post's been up on facebook for hours and no one pick it up? i'm pretty lazy i'm not gonna be the guy that creates every news update i'll tell you now.. only negative things about ron paul repubs interest dp and make headlines nowadays? you left leaning 'libertarians' oughtta just get out

Rand has been getting lately. Dunno if it was the trip to Israel or Priebus trying to reconnect with the Libertarians.

But it's a fact, the man is getting one helluva lot of press.

Even if this is only in Kentucky, once the country sees the progress that will be it, no chance of spinning that. Which is why they will put up a fight to prevent any such miracle from happening in the first place. Go Rand. Keep changing minds within the party.

baby steps

This is how we achieve liberty again. Progressives for over a century have been taking baby steps and shredding our liberty, and they are almost finished with us. Once Americans actually see liberty working, they will back it completely. Baby steps, does that sell out principles? IDK.

Rand Paul takes 5 steps forward and one step back. Come 2016, and assuming he throws his hat in the ring, I will take a good, hard look at his actual voting record and then decide whether I, as a lover of Liberty, will support him wholeheartedly. I wish everyone else in our beautiful little (yet growing every day!) movement would take the same approach and stop the bashing/praising, or better yet, pure speculation.

My 2 cents.
