Thank you from the Daily Paul II

Here's a little project I've been working on: Writing thank you cards to all the people who have contributed to the latest Daily Paul fundraiser.

I had a thousand cards printed, and set out the bulk of over 350 of them yesterday. If you made a contribution, keep your eye on the mail ;-)

It is important for me to do this as a reminder to myself, that there are people, all over the country and world (we had over 25 international donations), that really love this site and what it is. To actually take the time to write a check, stick it in an envelope and send it is a profound statement of love. To send money to me to help keep the site going for everyone here - for the common cause - when just reading it is free, is a profound statement.

Sometimes it hard to remember, that behind all these screen names, and behind the sometimes annoying and inane comments, are real people - people who actually care. And that these people would take the time to send their love not only to me, but to everyone here, is awesome beyond words for me.

- - - - - -

Also a quick note on some of the things I've been thinking. The Daily Paul is obviously morphing and changing. Its secondary mission is complete. The Ron Paul for President campaign (or as Ernie Hancock called it, “The 2012 speaking tour” ) is over. It gives us the opportunity to begin again from nothing, which is a profoundly exciting opportunity.

While the secondary mission is complete, the primary mission remains: To spread the message of Liberty and encourage its growth across the land. To that end, this site needs to move beyond what we've been doing here, and on the internet in general. But what is the best way to do that?

I have been involved with the internet nearly since its inception. I was a stockbroker when Netscape came public, and it was the biggest IPO ever. “What the hell is it?” is what everyone (including me) wanted to know. After that job, and after a beautiful interlude of unemployment that gave me the time to read and think for a period of years, and a return to community college to learn the emerging skills of website building, I got a job as a web designer. At that job, I learned the skills that still serve me to this day: Photoshop, Illustrator, print production, website production. (Note to young people: Never take a job just for a paycheck. Always do something where you can learn what you’re interested in. When the learning stops, it is time to leave. This is the opposite of college: Instead of paying to learn, you get paid to learn.) While still on the job, I started my own website by moonlight, and was “blogging” before the term “blogging” was even even cool.

I got into this business because of the promise of the internet. The promise of distributing information and knowledge. The promise of democratizing institutions. The promise of empowering individuals to make a difference, and the promise of changing the world.

But that promise has not been fulfilled, and in many ways, it has been squandered. The internet is the new television, a device that enables us to endlessly and mindlessly amuse ourselves to death. How did it happen? How can we improve it? There must be a better use for the internet than ‘status updates.’

I don’t know what the future holds, for the Daily Paul, for myself, or the three patriots that help me keep the site going. Even if the fundraiser were to fill, it would only buy six more months of time at most. Since it seems unlikely to be filled, it just means less time. What does it mean? It means it is time for a change. And if these are the last few months of the Daily Paul, it brings on a sense of adventure and excitement. For there is nothing like the presence of death to bring on a clarity of focus on the present. And there is nothing like necessity to birth invention.

Thank you again everyone - contributors, non-contributors, trolls and friends. The future, as always, is wide open. It is waiting for you to take the reigns, to mold yourself, and to mold your world into a place of liberty, and justice for all.

Love,
Michael

You must do what you feel you must do,

and what ever it is, so long as it promotes Liberty, will be worthy of my support. I find your positive attitude / perspective inspiring. (Never mind your patience!) Thanks for that!

I've been a freeloader and have never given $$$ here, I regret to say (Although when possible I've squeaked out the odd $25 and $50 to C4L [and even $100 when I was really wound up about an issue!] over the last couple years. Used a credit card, though... I know that's horrible!).

Regular employment has eluded me for almost the past 3 years. Yeah, perhaps not the best excuse. However, I've stepped up the search for full-time employment recently. I had promised myself that when I get a full-on gig, I will do two things:

1. get health insurance again *gulp* or afford health care (3 yrs. without sucks, and I'm getting older... starting to fall apart a little! LOL! And better hurry up before the health system falls completely to sh*t.),
and
2. regularly contribute (actually properly *subscribe*) to THIS site! Support with $$$.

As others have said, this is the daily / morning news. Plus afternoon and evening, too!

All the best, Sir, whatever you decide to do, and I'll see you on the other side--or this one!

What would the Founders do?

Just my opinion but...

...I think this website is too important to shut it down. If you need another fund-raiser then have one. Didn't Ron Paul say he reads the DP? I think Peter Schiff and Tom Woods have said that too. This site needs to stay around. From a personal perspective, I think I spend more time on this site more than any other.

Reciept of Thank You Card

with much respect, and Thank You Michael for continuing to head the Daily Paul.

With all due respect, I will no longer be a voting prostitute for Constitution rejecting harlots.

I have to say

Just got the post card Michael

Thank you so much. The post card is wonderful and the handwritten thank you and signature is truly touching. I love this site - it has been a huge part of my "waking up". The fact that you sent thank you post cards to all who donated really says a lot about your character. Thank you for all the hard work and effort you have put into making this such an incredible site. It has touched so many and I know it will continue to do so. Don't hesitate to ask from us anytime you are in need. I know we will step up when you need it.

The Daily Paul is exactly that

The Daily Paul is exactly that for me. I use it 1...2....3 times daily. In fact, it's become my morning paper with coffee. I didn't donate much, but in 6 months. i'll do it again.

I wouldn't mind seeing the site morph into something bigger, but am happy with it just the way it is. I would be very disappointed to see it go away. The fact that I gave up on all forms of mainstream media leaves me with alternative media sources, and frankly besides The Daily Paul, an article here and there by Paul Craig Roberts, dabble in Gerald Celente, sorting through some interesting stuff on Infowars and one of my new favorite liberty contributors KrisAnne Hall and a few more, there's not much I care for.

I truly love Daily Paul.

Wow. Somebody just gave $500

Wow. That is serious business.

In a way, it is almost shocking, in this era when money means so much. This is the era of money. Of fiat dollars.

When someone will trade $500 in fiat dollars - for nothing in return but that the Daily Paul continue - that has a profound impact on me.

Thank you Chuck. How can we do more?

How can all of us do more?

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. - Alan Watts

I don't think you can ever really know

how much this site means to us.

"When someone will trade $500 in fiat dollars - for nothing in return but that the Daily Paul continue - that has a profound impact on me"

You see Michael, "for nothing in return," is false. It is 8 in the morning here and I have already had "return" today. It is return that cannot be measured and can hardly be voiced. I speak on an emotional level...you know, that girl energy, there is a special place in the heart for the Daily Paul because it gives what cannot be seen in many ways.

I don't do facebook, but for some people, facebook gives a "return."

It is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_pole

What value can be placed on that? And you know what, I learned about the existence of the Liberty Pole here on the DP from one of my Friends in Liberty.

My words are ackward this morning because I cannot put into words the worth each individual finds here on the Daily Paul. I would imagine that $500 does not even put a dent in that worth of the DP for the individual that gave that amount.

The Daily Paul = Our Liberty Pole

Just like Ron Paul = Our Liberty Pole, but in a different way.

A stick in the ground is more than a stick in the ground. And we here at the DP have rallied around this stick in the ground.

In the interview after the RNC Doug Weed said something to the effect that he did not think he would see Liberty in his lifetime. Those are very concerning words. And yet in a way, we are able to experience Liberty here at this pole and work toward Liberty for this "Land of the Free and Home of the Brave."

Michael, you planted a Liberty Pole when you designed the Daily Paul. There are many who rally at this pole: A community with common ground.

...

How you could do more ?

Keep doing what your doing.
The thanks goes to you

This time the goal is 20,000$FRN.

That's 12ozAu or 645ozAg.

As for Me. Beth's copyright settlement left us defaulting on house payments and utilities. (a fraudulent claim that had merit only because the county's Judicial system is corrupt with cronyism). A piece of pie is better than none was her thinking.

PS I've never done Amazon. Somehow I have to go through the link on the Daily Paul and then make a choice.

Someone mention how LRC build Amazon link to people being interview. Does DP have place like this?

Can one pay to have their links on the Amazon link Button?

Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday DP

Happy Birthday to Me,

Happy Birthday to Me,

Happy Birthday Daily Paul...

Happy Birthday from Jeff!
------------
I asked my husband a couple of weeks ago if I could have a picture next to my posts in support of the fundraiser...since he is the "bread winner." He said $60 a year for a picture?...(I already have the $5 a month sub) …but he didn't say no.

So, I asked again tonight after reading Michael's Post here.

Here is the answer:

"Happy Birthday!
Love, Jeff"

I just got an early Birthday Present from my Husband to Me for a Premium Daily Paul Subscription! So you now will see a picture of "bear" as in Pookie Bear (may she rest in peace).

...

Michael Nystrom's picture

Happy Birthday bear!

You're so cute. I didn't even know you were a girl, until today today. Or if I did, I forgot. But tonight, I met a sweet girl at a bar, and I'm reminded, that girl energy is different from boy energy.

She was 29, and was going to grad school at MGH. MGH? I knew that as my wife's employer: Mass General Hospital, recently ranked the top hospital in the country, ahead of Johns Hopkins for the first time every. It was a big deal here in Boston. Like a passing of the torch. Like, wow. Like, big.

But I didn't realize they had a grad school. But they do, and Casey (but not like Casey Casem) - Like KC and the Sunshine band, goes there. Out in Charlestown, which is where KC works.

For me, that is a beautiful movie - The Town. The star is Boston. My hometown. For now. The Departed as well. But do you see? I'm learning the "history" of Boston as written by Hollywood. Speaking of which, I like Matt Damon. I believe his heart is in the right place. He is earnest. I believe he cares. These are the ones we need to target: The ones who care.

Leonardo DiCaprio obviously cares. He was just, apparently, misinformed.

Thank you Jeff! You've got yourself a jewel. Never let her go. (Bear, be sure to tell him I said that!)

Thank you bear. I truly appreciate your contributions here.

Because you let me, I know that you also let many, many more than me know: We're not alone. There are others out there like us. They may be few and far between. And though we may never even meet any in real life (though I have been lucky enough to meet my wife, and a few others other), at least we know. There are others like us in the world.

Thank you bear. It warms my heart. It warms my heart because I know there are many places that money can be spent, and I know that money is tight. And in this world it has become the case - though I know in my heart that it should not be - that money is love.

Money has been conflated with love in our era. But this is the world we live in.

Through all of world history, through all the eras, all the dynasties, all the empires, all the countries - all the anarchy, all the tyranny, all the democracy! All the human machinations of every kind. All the system tried and discarded. This is the one we're in now. Its own secret combination on the safe of history! This is the one we're in now.

All I want to do is look at it. Examine it. What does it mean? What are the factions trying to achieve? What is going on? Everyone, play your roles!

DO WHAT YOU WILL!

And when we all do that, without thinking, only in response to our most inner, most base instincts, what we see is God's will at work.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. - Alan Watts

Do What Thou Wilt

Is this what you were referring to?

I still cannot understand all the sorted and different views here in this place and I cannot understand why you linked me to an evil man named Aleister Crowley I have been away because I cannot bear to know Friends of Liberty seem to be Friends with those who would steal Liberty.

Michael, I cannot understand either why you use a Tarot Card as your picture. That has always been a representation of evil in my world view. I cannot understand why the Nightly Jam Session has so many dark and evil links. Are my Friends of Liberty naive and blind to evil in plain view?

Are we but pawns in a game?

...

Michael, I'll be 50 in 8 days,

I'd like to know why you linked me to Aleister Crowley. It seems like the movies you linked had something to do with unexpected consequences or double agents. Is there some kind of hidden message in your reply to me? I have been wondering about this for over 2 months now, tho, I only asked you about it last month. It is bugging me.

Michael,

This may seem funny to you, but I never replied to this message because it scared me and I had no words. I do not understand the links and what you are saying to me so instead of asking, I ran away :) I guess I am feeling abit more sure of myself so I want to know what you are saying to me.

The movies seemed like double agents! and I don't get the Do What You Will link.

I do know tho when I read these words: "And when we all do that, without thinking, only in response to our most inner, most base instincts, what we see is God's will at work."

they cause me to think this:
Proverbs 14:12 KJV
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

But they also make me think of these words:

Romans 8:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. 19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? 20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

So then when I read those words, I think yes, Pharoah did what his base nature said and it was the purpose of God. But I also know that as a Christian, I do not feed my flesh or allow it to reign in my life, but I try to allow love to live thru me.

Anyways, I am a bit of a shy person, so I ran away when I didn't know what to say back to the Grand Michael Nystrom, the mind behind the Daily Paul :)

Thank you for such a kind personal not and telling me about the award your wife's hospital received being the top hospital in the country.

I would imagine if we were all really in your living room, I would be a wall flower. lol :)
