Minnesota Public Radio reports that Mayor R.T. Rybak of Minneapolis has said that he and 60 other mayors are considering boycotts of gun makers who don’t agree to their sweeping list of gun control demands. Taking a page from the Rahm Emanuel playbook, the mayors intend to use their police department purchasing power as leverage.
This is a re-hash of the Clinton Administration threat, spearheaded by then-HUD Secretary and now governor of New York Andrew Cuomo, to do the same with federal agencies. Despite a successful court action by NSSF to counter the threat at the time, the idea was kicked up again in 2010 by disgraced former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, who suggested that gun makers must cease and desist the sale of ALL semi-automatic firearms to escape this punishment.

The mayors don't have a leg
The mayors don't have a leg to stand on, unlike during the Clinton administration the manufacturers can barely keep up with public demand. Call out the manufacturers at your own risk of losing an armed police force.

climbed into bed with the Clinton administration in the 90's doing the same thing, hoping to boost profits from govt. contracts. People caught wind of it and stopped buying Smith and Wesson. They almost went out of business.

I hope that cities do stop
I hope that cities do stop buying guns and ammo for their cops. That will leave a lot more for us law abiding citizens to buy. There seems to be a shortage right now. We would all be much safer if the police were unarmed. Leave a comment if the only time in your life you had a gun pointed at you was by a cop.

in washington state, i was driving home from sturgeon fishing and got pulled over when i was driving through vancouver.i called a friend so someone would know what was happening and while i was on the phone, the officer walked up to my car and put his gun up to my head and told me that if i did not hang up the phone, he would shoot me.he then told me i was drunk and had me take the sobriety test and blow on the breathalyzer.i had never drank alcohol in my life and he handcuffed me and charged me with dui.a couple of weeks later, i was driving home from seattle at night again and the same thing happened again about 30 miles south of tacoma.both times they held me in jail while i pleaded not guilty and told me that they would hold me in jail until i pled guilty.the first time i pled guilty after a couple of weeks just to get out of jail.the second time i held out for 6 months before i finally pled guilty and they let me go.i still had never drank any alcohol in my life, but after the last one i tried it for the first time.
