Her Romney-voting father was not impressed by my Ron Paul car sticker (Friday night story)

So I met a nice girl a few weeks ago, and I went over to her family farm to hang out. As soon as I got there her Dad pulled into the driveway after me, and I saw him looking at my car. (I assumed it was because it was an unfamiliar car in his driveway.)

I walked over to introduce myself to him, and before I got too close he yelled out, sarcastically, "Ron Paul, huh?"

I smiled and replied "yeah of course. Best vote of my life."

He just looked at me.

Then I said "and I donated a lot of money to his campaign, too." (A few hundred bucks is a lot to me at this point.)

He kind of laughed, gave me a puzzled look, and said "Really? That's probably why we lost."

I smiled and teased him and said "naw we lost because we didn't nominate him in the first place."

That was the end of the political discussion for the night. Then she told me about their conversation the next morning. I guess it bothered him, and she told me he went on and on about it for 20 minutes...

"Why would he vote for someone he knew was going to lose?"
"Why would he give money to someone he knew was going to lose?"
"Did he want Obama to win?"
"Does he have a job?"

She laughed telling me the story, and I guess just told him "I don't know? Why don't you ask him?"

I wish he would have asked me. I would have been happy to explain myself.

But I wonder, how many other tirades has my inconspicuous "Ron Paul 2012" bumper sticker generated?

Yeah, like voting for the lesser of two evils worked so well!

I think this image is appropriate to the conversation:

I Live

In New Jersey, I got out of two tickets for having my Ron Paul bump sticker. One cop just gave me a warning and told me " Love the sticker". The other cop told me he was voting for him and we talked for a bit about Ron Paul. The cop acted like I was his best friend. It was funny. I even had a bunch of soldiers near Fort Dix point look at my bumper sticker and gave me a thumbs up and smiled. I got beeped at occasional from old people to young people. I even put a sticker on a stop sign near an elementary school entrance. It is still there.

Your post says it all! Kudos to you!

great story! you must be cool under pressure

to have responded so adroitly!

Politics is just like the superbowl for most people; it's their team and that's all that matters.

Maybe her dad...

Maybe her dad is ok with gun control, as long as it is passed by someone who is a "Republican".

Maybe her dad is ok with mandated healthcare, as long as it is passed by someone who is a "Republican".

Maybe her dad is ok with indefinite detention, as long as it is supported by someone who is a "Republican".

The founders would be ashamed at us for what we are putting up with.

If he says there was no way RP could have won ...

... say, "That's interesting you say that. Did you think that BEFORE the party insiders cheated him of his votes in the primaries or did you come to that conclusion after they cheated?"

Who'd she vote for?

Who'd she vote for?

You may ask him why he didn't vote for the conservative?

And that was Ron Paul. The Republicans had a false premise in their campaign strategy. I have heard Rush Limbaugh say a number of times, what choice do they have? Who are they going to vote for? Like there were only 2 choices available to voters. I don't think they considered the third choice, not voting at all. That's essentially what happened, fewer people voted for Obama in 2012 than they did in 2008.

The Republicans picked a candidate that was, in their estimation, good for the party and the parties big campaign donors, not a candidate that was good for the country.

bumping . . .

for a girl who can laugh at her father. Good sign.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

"Ron Paul - Liberty means freedom from the government". Always ready to spark a conversation about Dr. Paul and the principles of liberty.

Why would anyone vote for a liar, thief and flip flopper on all issue's in Obamney(romney) unless they wanted obama to win?

Ron Paul 2016

I'll bet he is one of those people

Weeping over the passing of Barney the dog. The publicity over this is disgusting.

Oh Lawdy, Massa George's doggie dead. He such a precious little dog.

I was sad to hear about it

Barney was cute. But I'm still offended by anyone who would vote for Romney (or either Bush). I still haven't heard of justification for doing that.

"Oh Lawdy, Massa George's doggie dead. He such a precious little dog."

Now that's funny! I am sure there are a few people in my family that are just devastated over the passing of the dog.

Its so tough biting my toung when...

people try and come at me with a point similar to this.

I get a lot of those types of questions when people see my chrome R3VOLution Car Badge.

We also have a chrome peace symbol and a chrome "Don't Tread on Me" emblem to chose from, + 10 % goes directly to support the Daily Paul and other liberty organizations!

Don't stop believing

I wear my RP 2012 hat with pride

Has sparked much great intelligent conversation !

I think some Republicans

were under the impression that RP was running third party and was just competing in the GOP primaries to see how many Republicans he could get to vote for him in the general.

I'm offended by his vote for Romney

As long as these people let people like Romney manipulate them into thinking they are any different from people like Obama, we have a long fight ahead of us.

But of course, we know we have a fight ahead of us. We have to educate a lot of people.

I am hearing the same thing as well.

Spoke to a woman recently telling her I supported RP during the last election and she said, "Yes, he is a good man but...couldn't win so I voted for Santorum in the primaries." I swallowed hard and changed the subject so as not to let my blood pressure explode my head.

Having a hard time believing that people STILL buy into that ridiculous meme and really BELIEVE that Romney would have been any different than Obama.

I Hope that more of you... stories like this. Planting the seeds of Liberty with a Bumper Sticker, a book, a video, a conversation, whatever it is...sometimes it takes months or years before it "clicks" with the person you're trying to educate, but with a little patience, our numbers will continue to grow and climb!

"Farmer" Does Your Wife Need a New Car Sticker?

Just let me know:

I've got one for her, but that was her call. Something about some kind of crazy elections and such being over I think. I'm keeping my sticker on, however. "Ron Paul" is about the most to-the-point answer most of my countrymen have a chance of understanding. When they start asking the correct questions is another matter. But when they do, "Ron Paul, Restore America Now," will be on the back of my vehicle.

As far as I can see, RP is a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon. Hopefully, he'll stay on youtube or some such, so others can get the message. If not, they can hear it from us.

Thanks for Your Reply Farmer

I understand where you're coming from. I continue to send out free Bumper Stickers on here because they sometimes wake people up to Liberty, or at the least prompt people to ask some hard questions on the issues.

The Ron Paul thing doesn't have to end, until Rand or Judge Napolitano or whoever it is runs for President in 2016. I encourage everyone to attend their local Campaign for Liberty Meeting, in their town or county. If you don't have a chapter in your area, email me, and I'll find a way to get you more information, because every area should have a chapter. Campaign for Liberty was started by Ron Paul, as many of you know, and it really is a way to take our "backyards" back from the Neo-Cons and Liberals. If we can control our "backyards" -- our local neighborhoods, towns, and counties -- then we just may have a shot at our states. But we can't, in most cases, aim as high as that, until we have Liberty in our communities. And it's up to us to make this happen. Campaign for Liberty is a beautiful network, from what I've seen and experienced, to give us a fighting chance as Ron Paul supporters, to make this a reality.

Email me at: for more info on Campaign for Liberty, or for a free Ron Paul Bumper Sticker. By the way, I'm not connected to Campaign for Liberty, I just want more people to attend the meetings, because I feel that once you do, your eyes will be opened to a really good vehicle for promoting Liberty.

still have my Ron Paul 2012 bumper sticker

And I show it off daily and every Sunday at my St.Catherine church.

wife's sticker

I've never gotten much response to my sticker, but my wife's sticker, which she has now (sadly) taken off, got her hugged by a hero.

She was on the other side of town and came out of a grocery store with the kids to find someone waiting for her at her vehicle. It was Sherry Peel Jackson who said she didn't see too many RP stickers in her neighborhood and wanted to wait to meet whoever it was that had one. I'm sorry I missed the chance meeting, but I still hope to meet one of my biggest heroes someday.

First advise to "dad"...

throw your TV in the pond!! He sounds like a big FOX fan...I know some of those. They spew the rhetoric of "a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Barry"...blah-blah-blah. If you get the opportunity, please ask him a high school civics question...have him name the 3 branchesof government! I'll bet he can't. After you help him answer it, tell him about the 4th branch- Propaganda.
