This official White House photograph is being made available only for publication by news organizations and/or for personal use printing by the subject(s) of the photograph. The photograph may not be manipulated in any way and may not be used in commercial or political materials, advertisements, emails, products, promotions that in any way suggests approval or endorsement of the President, the First Family, or the White House.

Campaign Ads

I think this is mostly directed at campaign and political ads. They want the ability to sue the Republicans if they use it on campaign materials - avoiding silly ads like the one with Kerry para-sailing accusing him of flip flopping and going whichever way the wind blows.

This may have been a net for a little shock and awe operation, who knows. I know the tech is available to track everything digital these days. Would they actually go after someone to make an example of them? Who knows, but I wouldn't put it past them.

And I'm thinking, they can't really be THAT ignorant and out of touch, can they? Which led me to wonder maybe they really want the image spread far and wide, even if photoshopped. Maybe taking the approach with this image that any publicity is good publicity?
