My Lacto-Vegetarian Alkaline Diet. Simple Approach to Healthy Meatless Eating.

I am adding this paragraph because it actually is the BASIS of my diet.
Be true to your BLOOD. Human blood should be slightly on the alkaline side. If your diet makes your blood acid, then you will eventually become very ill with one or all of the chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancer...

You can eat anything you like, including meat and dairy, as long as the end result is slightly alkaline blood. Make sure your diet is 80% alkaline foods and 20% acid foods. That is the balance that promotes health.

Do the research. Perhaps begin here. Look at all his charts and make your own diet according to foods you like. Make sure to eat lots of raw alkaline vegetables.

This is my lacto-vegetarian diet, that works for me. This is for people who need some help meal planning! I am very healthy eating this way, slim, physically strong, and look younger than my years! I am never ill; not even a cold. After more than 10 years of being lacto-vegetarian and keeping my blood alkaline, I feel no desire to eat any kind of fish, bird, or animal. I have also cut down greatly on flour products such as bread, cakes, pasta, and there is no sugar in my home, just honey.

Lunch can be taken and heated up at work. Homemade soup has vegetable water as its base. Never throw away any water from vegetables or potatoes. Change to ALMOND flour and sorghum flour for baking. Use raisins and a tbsp honey only. You get used to less sweetened baking, and then a regular doughnut or cookie will taste too sweet to you.

Typical Day:

Breakfast - 2 eggs, 1 toast, raw tomato and red peppers, coffee, water, 500 mg Vitamin C.

Lunch - 1/2 cup beans in tomato sauce with fried onion mixed in and and raw peppers if you like, 1 slice bread, a mug of homemade soup, and water

Afternoon snack: 1 Sliced banana with some pecans, walnuts, raisins, topped with 1/4 cup plain yogurt.

Supper - homemade veggie burger, 1/2 cup homemade oven roasted potato wedges sprinkled with Mrs. Dash, 1/2 cup peas and corn, turnip, lettuce, raw tomatoes and red peppers, a few olives, a mug of homemade soup, and water

Evening snack: 1/2 apple with thin slices dipped in 1 tsp honey, YUM (this is like medicine and will prevent acid reflux if you have that problem. Have nothing else before bed. Water if thirsty.)

Veggie Burger Recipe - Easy to Make and Delicious!

Throw it all in the blender and grate/mix. Then ladle by 1/2 cup onto parchment paper (like big cookies they can touch) on a large cookie sheet and bake about 40 min at 350. Makes 12 burgers. Freeze and reheat 1 at a time as a sandwich or burger or meat replacement at a meal. 1.5 min in microwave or heat in fry pan. YUM

Toss it all in the blender:
4 eggs, 1 big yellow onion, 2 large carrots, some sweet potato or turnip, 1 stick celery, 1 can well rinsed kidney beans or mixed beans 19 oz, 1/ 2 cup each sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds, 2 tsp basil, 1 tsp parsley, 1 tsp oregano, some rosemary, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp olive oil, Top with some dry oregano just before you put the cookie sheet in the oven. Enjoy. I like them with a tsp catchup.

Good documentary, I've

Good documentary, I've watched it. NetFlix has another movie/documentary of their expanded interviews as well. I have not watched that one yet but plan to soon.

No thanks. Bogus studies

Surveys can establish a hypothesis to be tested.

The clinical studies are on rats. Many variables not considered. Studies done in India. Did they find what they wanted to find?

The truth is they are guessing.

I know too many people that lived into their nineties that have proved this guess to be wrong.

If the guys promoting concept last that long, then I would think about it.

Show me proof, don't tell me about rats or a questionnaire sent to China.

Humans need to eat 90 things for health

60 Minerals
16 Vitamins
12 Amino Acids
2 Fatty acids

The rest is creative art. Veggie burger sounds great. Lots of flavorful ingredients!

Use pastured eggs and the 16 Vitamins, amino acids and fatty acids are a cinch.

Lately, I have been insuring I get 60 essential minerals daily. It kicked everything up a notch, I was stunned. How had I missed this piece for forty years?

Birth defect in humans runs 1 in 5000. In livestock the numbers are 1 in half a million. Reproductive accuracy is maintained by insuring that the cows, sow and hens are mineral sufficient before conception.

Livestock and Pets are getting better mineral nutrition than we give ourselves. Rats need 27 minerals for optimal health.

Humans need sixty for reducing birth defects, healthy cancer-free and long lives.

Amino acids

THe bad news is, the people in S America who have used quinoa as a staple for generations can hardy afford it now... but the good news is that if you are looking for a natural way to get those amino acids, quinoa has you nearly 100% covered - 11 of 12.

"
Amino Acids in Quinoa

A serving of quinoa contains the following amino acids: isoleucine, leucine, lysine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, cysteine, methionine, threonine, histidine, tryptophan and valine. The precise amounts of these amino acids will vary slightly based on cultivation conditions, however, a serving of quinoa will always contain significant amounts of each. In addition to protein, quinoa contains starchy carbohydrates, dietary fiber, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. Quinoa is also gluten-free."

I was vegetarian for nearly a decade, and I have been much healthier since going to free-range, organic meat in my diet. TO each his own.

I give it to the babies

As soon as they can start eating worms and bugs, they get cut off. That stuff is pretty expensive, as grains go. I hope to grow my own eventually.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

Let the chickens filter out the dietary fibers, i'll take eggs.

Do the fish eat any grain?

Sometimes for treats

They eat mostly duckweed and veggies, a few worms or boiled egg yolks.

Great stuff. I've been a vegetarian for several years now but I should probably eat healthier haha.

I had a terrific

Rib-eye tonight with steamed asparagus, mmmmm. You eat your tofu and I'll eat my steaks, pork ribs, hamburgers and chicken ala king. You think it's healthier to not eat meat? Try a little anemia with your veggie diet. That's Dr. Paul's remedy, we both get what we want and neither of us force the other. Cool!

Live Free Or Die

Huh?

"You think it's healthier to not eat meat?" I never said it was. I was just responding to the post. I really don't care whether or not you eat meat. Btw, I don't eat tofu.

I'm Blood Type B and Follow the B Diet

Blood Type O has a really hard time being healthy without red meat. Dr. D'Adamo says that if you see a sickly person in a health food market, they're probably a vegetarian O.

My Dad's an O. He never had digestive problems until he moved off the farm and started drinking pastuerized milk. Now, of course, the milk has GMO corn and worse, in it.

My Blood Type A brother was a very sickly baby and toddler, on the same diets the rest of us B's, O's, and AB were eating. A's make good vegetarians, and, like O's, should probably avoid cow milk (in favor of goat's or sheep's milk--our 1961 pediatrician put him on goat's milk).

I mention this because you need to be aware that you and your daughter may not have the same ability to digest and use the same foods, and you should watch for illnesses and brain fog, and the like, and make changes if it isn't right for you.

Dr. D'Adamo also says that B's tend to be activists! Quite true of me.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Did this one

Ended up very sick. The nutritionist insisted I could not be allergic to dairy (ALL types) because I was type B.

Wrong.

There is no one-size (or blood type) fits all diet. Dr. Adamo's diet is bad science.

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.”
― Albert Camus

"Eat Right 4 Your Type"

I have followed that diet with great success for nearly 10 years. The history of the blood types was fascinating.

Type O (my dad): the original people (hunter/gatherers)
Diet: red meat, nuts, berries, some fruits and vegetables/ few grains or dairy

Type A: the Mideast agricultural revolution (9000 BC)
Diet: vegan

Type B (the rest of my family) : the steppe dwellers, Mongols
Diet: high in dairy, some meat (rabbit, venison, some fish), very tolerant to all food types

Type AB: recent development (1000AD)
Diet: very resticted due to A and B intolerances

The foods prohibited to all groups are pork, shell fish, peanuts and tomatoes.

I also recommend "In the Zone" about how each meal and snack should be a certain ratio of carb/protein/fat and the book "Adrenal Fatigue" about how outside stress factors (bad relationships) could be a more important factor than your diet on your health.

I'm type A

and the diet that works best for me is a high-fat, low-carb paleo diet that includes lots of red meat, bacon and raw milk. ( Just tonight I purchased 11 lbs. of bacon.)

The vegan diet that supposedly fits type A people made me sick and emaciated.

Not exactly debunked

That there is no proof given, is not the same as there can be no proof.

But is does give permission to people to look for food that do not affect them negatively. To be aware of what you eat and its effects is a good first step.

Blood type diets lack

Blood type diets lack supporting evidence: a systematic review

Glucose and Ketone meters are friends to the individual eater.

Agreed, but ...

... but people have been misled into believing if they have blood type O they should not try vegetarianism, which is a HUGE misnomer.

oh no

I have to laugh at this blood type diet- everyone in my family has a different type! Meal times are already hard with all my picky eaters.

Thanks for the info!

I am type A and my daughter is O. We do not eat the same foods and she includes a little fish and chicken now a few days a week because she avoids milk products but still eats eggs, and we both combine foods for complete protein. We have both adjusted our diets to suit our individual needs and we are both in very good health.

You need to listen to your body and do what works for you. Some people just eat without any thought and end up with chronic illnesses related to diet choices.

Interesting about the blood types.

Vegetarian - old Indian word which means "Bad Hunter".

Yo clynbrit

You got a daughter? I have two and your diet reminds me of my former diet. I read your story with interest and thanks for it. I never did the coffee thing and I discovered after just 20 years that I was in big trouble. Not enough protein (good job with the eggs)and fat and way too much processed foods that were high in carbs or hard to digest. I had low energy, poor sleep, weak, starting of teeth problems, graying hair (yep related to the food we eat) poor hearing and worsening of eye sight.

You have a daughter, I have two and here is an interview with another daughter. http://ournaturallife.com/blog/2009/08/onl050-in-defense-of-...

Give it a listen and write me what you think.

You write about "acid reflux". Do you or have you had it?

thedoctorisin

Thanks for the comment. Glad you mention the VEGAN

distinction. I have seen teenagers who go VEGAN and end up very ill because of the lack of protein and vitamins, and basic lack of knowledge about what is needed for health.

FOR the RECORD I do not advise a change in diet until all the research has been done and you know exactly what you need to eat for health.

I did a very careful study and I choose my food carefully and have no health issues, and in fact perfect glowing health and abundant energy. BUT as you notice I use dairy products and also combine my foods to get complete protein. I have been at this for many years. I also supplement with Vitamin B12 a few times a week.

It takes thought and work, and you cannot just put anything in your stomach and hope for health. You need to know what you are doing bio-chemically and physically to your cells.

Scroll down for complete protein combinations. http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/802982/get...

Had acid indigestion occasionally and found out that an apple works better than antacid. No longer have it because I avoid what triggers it. Just thought I would pass on a method that worked for me.

I am listening to the pod cast now. Thanks for the link. Yes, I have seen this a few times in teens. Eating eggs, cheeses, yogurt, milk makes a difference. Eggs provide iron, fats, vitamins as well as protein. I eat no meat but have good iron and no anemia. BUT VEGANS are anemic and very pale and lack energy. It is not a good choice of diet! It can be a killer choice.

And yes, sometimes I have felt guilty about even eating dairy, because I wish no harm. I bless them and thank chickens and cows for their eggs and milk. I get my dairy locally in the country where critters have free range and are treated well.

Because I have glowing health, I will not return to eating meat, but if a person tries lacto-vegeatrian, and they are NOT healthy on that diet, then do what works for you to have good health. My daughter does not do well on milk products and so includes fish and chicken a few times a week. I know what works for me. But I have a background in chemistry and nutrition and do lots of research.

Thanks for the link.

I agree that plants can provide complete proteins. I am careful to combine them properly.

I have seen some teen vegans who become very ill. They think as long as they avoid meat they can eat anything to survive and have no knowledge about nutrition or deficiencies.

Any diet can lead to ill health if the person eats without knowledge of what the body needs for health.

The western world is full of victims of diabetes, heart disease, stroke victims...all brought on by wrong eating. Then they fall victim again to the medical-pharmo industry where a pill is the answer! Being healthy takes thought and work.
