Vigilante Militias Fight Crime in Rural Mexico

Citizen militias in Mexico are taking the fight to the drug lords personally. In the absence of a government committed to law and order, law abiding citizens become vigilantes to defend life, liberty and property rights. The video below from the Wall Street Journal tells the story of individual citizens fed up with waiting for the state to protect their safety and taking matters into their own hands.

Very scary. Just because it's

Very scary. Just because it's a local militia does not mean it is immune to corruption and destined to respect liberty and "law" (though I understand they are creating their own law as they see fit). From the system they seem to be promoting, it appears to be moving swiftly toward a tyrannical majoritarian community. Indefinite detention and warrant-less raiding of homes with no probable cause... quite scary indeed.

Vigilantism is such a funny word. By it's own definition are we as a representative republic not naturally vigilantes?

This is a great example of people stepping in to do THEIR JOB.

it's a glimpse of our future

but instead of rounding up drug dealers, we'll be rounding up politicians and of course we won't be carrying break action shotguns ;)
