Fight Police tyranny in NY and NJ

In the last several days there have been 2 individuals that have had the full force of police tyranny come down upon them and sent their lives into a dystopian nightmare. These gentlemen are now fighting for their lives to stay out of prison for having a firearm, and in Haddad's case, 5 magazines. They need to fund their legal defense, please chip in a couple bucks. If you cannot afford a few bucks, then please spread this information far and wide, facebook, whatever.

They're stories are here:

Keith Pantaleon

On Thursday January 25th around 10:30 pm, Keith was in his apartment when he heard a noise outside of his bedroom door. The 2nd time he heard it he opened the door and found someone standing in his living room. Not knowing what was going on he did have his notebook in his hand which contained his weapon that he has in his home for protection. When he looked towards his front door he saw that it was opened and the landlord was outside the door with a police officer. When the man in the living room turned around he saw that he was also an officer so he threw his notebook containing the weapon on the bed. The officer asked what it was he threw on the bed and barged into the bedroom. When he discovered it was a weapon he arrested Keith right inside of his home.

UPDATE: "The charges are unlawful possession of my 2 handguns, unlawful possession of my rifle, unlawful possession of my ammo and felony possession of an assault rifle. The cops claimed the third floor tenant called because he did not have heat in his apt, and the boiler just happened to be in my apartment.
I don't know what the landlord told him. They had no warrant nor did they have my consent. They did not Mirandize me until after 15 hours of no sleep, no food and no water."

Nathan Haddad

On January 6, 2013 Nathan Haddad, a decorated combat veteran, who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom was arrested for being in possession of 5 EMPTY AR-15 magazines by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. Nathan has been a long time responsible gun owner, church attender, volunteer with a variety of veteran organizations, and a contributing tax payer.

Due to ongoing legal considerations Nathan cannot provide any statements. He did relay that this generous outpouring of support is so appreciated and completely humbling. Nathan has sold many of his assets and thanks everybody for standing in the gap. You are allowing Nathan to mount a viable and vigorous defense.

Nathan fought for this country and believes in justice. Our hope and prayer is that justice will be served. Please at this point continue to provide financial support. We still do not know how expensive this defense will cost. Pray that the authorities will use their discretion and also seek justice. At this time it is vital that we remain respectful and have faith that ‘wrong will fail and right prevail.’

Keith will continue to work with the Nappens as they move forward on his case to eventually clear his name of all wrong doing. All the funds that have been contributed have been and will continue to go towards Keith's legal fees and is very much appreciated (we still owe the Nappens much much more) !THANK U THANK U THANK U!!!

If he can't get the search declared illegal

he's screwed. A threaded barrel end along with a bayonet mount places this gun in the category that lets them hammer you. Whether he beats the case or not he will forfeit the weapons and magazines. I hope his lawyer leans on the landlord to get him to admit to trespassing, their whole case might revolve around an illegal action. Sue the hell out of the landlord if this occurs. Good to know a neighboring state has a restriction on magazine capacity, I'd hate to be traveling through there and find out the hard way.

There are no politicians or bankers in foxholes.

I just wanted to share something Keith told me in an email today when I asked how he is doing and shared many of the positive comments left by so many of you. This is his reply "I'm fine right now, and learning what you have written to me has lift my spirits, not only will I sue, I will make sure that it is never possible for something like this to happen in NJ ever again." Even in this terrible predicament he is thinking about how he can use this experience to help others. That's the kind of man he is. Thank you for your continued support!!!

Guess we'll be hearing about a lot more of these cases.

I guess it's time to dig holes in some places.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

Looks to me like Keith was targeted

Based on what?

I mean, you wouldn't make this crazy assumption just because he made a video, right?

I think we both spent about the same amount of time researching this, probably a combined 41 seconds. My guess is that the landlord wanted to fix the boiler and stumbled upon dude's gun collection and got freaked out.

You think a landlord can walk into your house unannounced

any time he likes? Glad I don't rent, more specifically from you!

Another assumption. What is

Another assumption. What is it with you? How do you know it was unannounced? Maybe the landlord called first and the lessee didn't answer, maybe the lessee knew the landlord would be coming over.

If there is a clause in the lease that says the landlord can enter to access the boiler because of other tenants, then yes.

You are pretty bad at thinking things out. Remind me not to rent to you, hire you as a detective, or recruit you for my imaginary debate team.

any others to add to the list

Has anyone heard of any other individuals that have been recent victims of this asinine legislation?
