Ron Paul TWEETS About SEAL Sniper's Chris Kyle's Death: 'He that lives by the sword dies by the sword'

Update: Rand Paul Responds | Update: Ron Paul clarifies his Tweet on Facebook

Vince Coglianese | Daily Caller | 02/04/2013

Former congressman and libertarian icon Ron Paul tweeted a startling reaction to the death of SEAL sniper Chris Kyle on Monday:

Ron Paul ✔ @RonPaul

Chris Kyle's death seems to confirm that "he who lives by the sword dies by the sword." Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn't make sense.
5:05 PM - 04 Feb 13

Kyle and a friend were both killed by a veteran struggling with PTSD while working with him at a gun range on Saturday.

The former Marine, Eddie Ray Routh, turned his weapon on the other two men and shot them at close range, according to news accounts.

are people aware of the Chris Kyle/Jesse Ventura controversy?

just wondering....might shed some light on what kind of person Chris Kyle was

Re: Chris Kyle punched Jesse Ventura's lights out

This is the biggest pile of bull crap. If it happened, Ventura would probably have brought it up first since he has a media sense about him and it would have been another thing to hit the talk show circuit. Not that he is a primadonna, but he's been a celebrity for decades. Secondly, Chris Kyle only had something to gain by making the claim - and that is that he punched out Jesse Ventura. If you make that claim as a SEAL of Kyle's stature, you are boasting about something, you perhaps, wish you did. If it really happened, most likely, the cops would have been called, and it would have been a major event. Ventura doesn't take crap from anyone, and punching out Jesse Ventura these days would actually be assaulting an old man. Not cool. So its possible Kyle had some issues himself. He considered all of his confirmed kills and his war in the Middle East to be all about "killing savages and barbarians" and that he had "no regrets". Doesn't seem like the kind of counselor I'd want talking to me if I had PTSD over killing a bunch of Iraqis.

Let me tell you, by 2006, my ex-girlfriend's sisters boyfriend had already served one tour. He was honorably discharged with PTSD. For almost a year, he was ordered to man a turret gun and fire on any incoming vehicles going towards a check point. He claimed most of the kills were civilians. That is what was going on in Iraq. His psyche was destroyed by it. Meeting a guy like Chris Kyle would not have helped a conscientious objector who couldn't get out.

hey now

I believe Jesse's side of the story.

If anyone believes Ron

If anyone believes Ron actually sits and tweets himself, I got a bridge to sell you.. It is unfortunate he has people doing it for him because of this type of stuff... he is getting way too much negative press on this...

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

4 downvotes? Twitches

four tw@ts really believed Ron was following them on twitter.

With no elections to win, I hope he continues to speak his brilliant mind- who cares what others think-
TELL THE TRUTH even if it hurts some feelings!

Ron Paul is AWESOME!

"OH NO! He has a SON?" Neoconservatives and Liberals EVERYWHERE!

Rand Paul 2016

i don't really care if ron paul would have worded it differently

i for one know ron paul will empathize with the young people coming back losing an arm and a leg but not necessarily praise the most kill-list filled veterans as heroes honored strictly by quantity of body bag deliveries, when it has been established that what they're doing in iraq has nothing to do with defense of this country.

of course, one may think differently if he were 'simply following orders'. it concerns me to think what they would do when ordered to shoot up US streets.

Kyle was PRO GUN & could have been murdered by our government,

As strange as that seems, because why would a guy all of a sudden turn on him, when he was helping the guy. That makes NO sense whatsoever, and I don't buy the b.s. of PTSD.

Where is the shooter, What's his story.

Or is he comatose from meds he's getting.

Free includes debt-free!

I don't buy it. Ron Paul

I don't buy it. Ron Paul isn't the sort of person to say something like that.

I totally agree. It's out of

I totally agree. It's out of character. Everyone here loves Ron Paul, so they rush to his defense. But I don't believe he personally tweeted that. I've been watching the way he operates closely for seven years, and he doesn't act that way. He doesn't say insensitive things. It's totally counterproductive.

he's famous for telling the truth. maybe you've heard so many lies you don't know the difference anymore?

I just don't think he tweeted

I just don't think he tweeted it. I don't think he even tweets honestly. I've read a ton of his writings and listen to him speak for countless hours... and that didn't sound like him to me. Don't know what all your hype about truth and lies is for. Simmer down. dang

I find it hard to believe RP is sitting around tweeting.

And this doesn't sound like him to me. Or if he said this in private, I doubt it would be his first public comment. Perhaps someone transcribed it and hit send.

I read his clarification, which sounds more like him.

By the way, I never believed all those campaign letters were "by" him, either (and it was annoying). Or much of those newsletters. He has a history of delegating his releases. And he always takes the blame.

Who knows. Ouside of Congress is is freer to speak his mind.

Did Carol transcribe their lunch conversation? So Ron could press send.

Does it make a difference.

Free includes debt-free!

Of course he didn't tweet

Of course he didn't tweet this... people giving you down votes are in lala land..

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

If I didn't know better, I might think

That Ron Paul is hinting towards media conspiracy here. Not finding fault in the murder, but rather the media portrait of the killer.

That infamous DHS report lists four future threats to America. Christian groups, 2nd Amendment groups, people opposed to Government, and returning veterans.

They are trying to discredit the opposition moving our once Capitalist society toward a socialist society.

I think Ron was hinting at this idea when he said "treating PTSD at a shooting range doesn't make much sense to me"

The individual who refuses to defend his rights when called by his Government, deserves to be a slave, and must be punished as an enemy of his country and friend to her foe. - Andrew Jackson

why are so many mis-reading this?

he didn't say "he who lives by the sword DESERVES to die by the sword"

does anyone deny that kyle put HIMSELF at risk?

Lol. It absolutely means

Lol. It absolutely means that ole crazy Ron thinks he deserved to be killed in this manner.

Why are you on a website

Why are you on a website dedicated to 'ole crazy Ron'? Are you lost?

Speaking truth to power brave..

Context aside, nuance aside, tone aside..

RP but reminded us of deeper truth beyond simply acknowledging the grief of a family.

Given near deification of country - "right or wrong" - and military personnel, reminder incendiary.

Such integrity to the message rare. May God guide RP and bless him.

What exactly is a "record-setting" sniper, anyway?

So these guys enlist and are trained to be killers, er, snipers, in unconstitutional wars....and we actually have "record-setters?"

I would agree with Dr Paul's comments.

I still love you RP

It needed said, You could of even added in "evil has no brother"

Tweets are brief and may not

Tweets are brief and may not always contain full context.

Ron Paul is right however, even if he didn't put enough politically correct pillowy softness to keep people from being butt-hurt about it.

We reap what we sew. This death was a tragic result, but perhaps a predictable one, even if not specifically. I do not participate in soldier worship.... at all. These people are "knowingly" signing up to go and kill other humans for empire. They may "think" they are fighting for freedom, but they aren't. If they were, DC would look like a crater.

They are killing people to protect the elite's financial interests, and by the time most of them "wake up" their lives and the lives of all those whom they have murdered are already destroyed.

What happened to this sniper is sad but it "is" the result of a his choice to participate in a system that produces results just like these for millions of people across the world.

Perpetual war produces perpetual horror and the casualties of it will stretch on until we stop the wars by any means neccessary.

Ron Paul DID say it

From Israel Anderson (of Ron Paul Flix):

[Just spoke to the Pauls to confirm this was a legit post by Dr. Paul before posting it. It is. ia.]

And here is some additional explanation from Ron Paul on Facebook:

As a veteran, I certainly recognize that this weekend's violence and killing of Chris Kyle were a tragic and sad event. My condolences and prayers go out to Mr. Kyle’s family. Unconstitutional and unnecessary wars have endless unintended consequences. A policy of non-violence, as Christ preached, would have prevented this and similar tragedies. -REP

Actually, you're misreading

Actually, you're misreading it. He quotes what he calls "the tweet" then he quotes "the facebook post" and then he says the "post" is legit, which would lead you to believe he's referring to the facebook post.

The first post was legit? or

The first post was legit? or the second? or both? I'm not totally blown away by this evidence. But anyway, if he did say it, don't you think this is unlike him? It seems pretty rude to me, giving the haters exactly what they want.

Both are true.
