Ron Paul TWEETS About SEAL Sniper's Chris Kyle's Death: 'He that lives by the sword dies by the sword'

Update: Rand Paul Responds | Update: Ron Paul clarifies his Tweet on Facebook

Vince Coglianese | Daily Caller | 02/04/2013

Former congressman and libertarian icon Ron Paul tweeted a startling reaction to the death of SEAL sniper Chris Kyle on Monday:

Ron Paul ✔ @RonPaul

Chris Kyle's death seems to confirm that "he who lives by the sword dies by the sword." Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn't make sense.
5:05 PM - 04 Feb 13

Kyle and a friend were both killed by a veteran struggling with PTSD while working with him at a gun range on Saturday.

The former Marine, Eddie Ray Routh, turned his weapon on the other two men and shot them at close range, according to news accounts.

How do you know that both

How do you know that both posts were from RP?

Confirmed by Israel Anderson

Read my post above. Israel Anderson, of Ron Paul Flix, called the Pauls and confirmed it.

Anyway, in the tweet, Ron Paul's point was about how prophetic the Biblical saying --‘he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.’ -- was.

"Know what you know, know what you don't know, and understand and appreciate the distinction."

I was commenting on your post. It's unclear if he was talking about the first post, the second post, or both. And I'm unfamiliar with Israel Anderson, not sure if I can trust him.

The dailer caller would have

The dailer caller would have verified before publishing or rick credibility.

LRC likewise would have verified with the sources.

Israel Anderson and Dourg Weed work together. Isreal has a reputation on reproting the facts.

The facebook posting was not a retraction.

That's Four reasonably reliable confrimations, IMO.

Daily caller is simply

Daily caller is simply reporting that the tweet came from his account. They are not obligated to find out who wrote it.

RP is a busy man, he may not be reachable right away, even by LRC. They may have simply presumed it was him.

Israel said the "post" was by him, which would tend to indicate the facebook post, not the tweet.

Facebook post may not have wanted to say "I didn't write it and I renounce it." May be trying to clean up the mess without playing that card again.

I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist, but it seems out of character. It may have been posted for him, possibly butchered in translation. Perhaps he can't take it back because he basically said it, only in milder terms. Who knows? It could be a lot of things or anything in between.

Your logic has more twsting turns than a San Francisco Road,

Ron Paul did not say that

This would be totally out of character for RP. He is always respectful; this comment is totally insensitive. Regardless of the problems caused by military intervention, it would be counterproductive to speak ill of the dead so quickly. I feel certain that this is a case of an intern gone wild.

Ron Paul posted the tweet himself

Well, nobody's perfect I

Well, nobody's perfect I suppose. It's an unforced error, in my humble opinion.

I'm holding out hope...

I'm holding out hope...

The problem is...

He's already used his "I didn't write it" card.

In war, there are soldiers

In war, there are soldiers who are victims, and then there are willing participants. Chris Kyle was a willing participant.

Funny thing is, it's a Jesus

Funny thing is, it's a Jesus quote again that has everyone up in arms.

"Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword" (Matthew 26:52, King James Version)

Yep, entirely sensible.

Yep, entirely sensible. Instagram a photo of you holding a sign with that quote from Jesus scrawled across it at your next local military funeral. Let me know how that goes.

Not a fan of the Golden Rule

Not a fan of the Golden Rule either, I presume?

A lot of talk, no action. Be

A lot of talk, no action. Be a man, go protest. :)

Only a fool protests a dead ,man.

Compassionate man leave their families to grieve.

Remorse is the only way out of hell.

Service men are guilty murderers. Let their family mourn. Doesn't compute.

"OH NO! He has a SON?" Neoconservatives and Liberals EVERYWHERE!

theres nothing to protest by me.
youre the one who should be protesting, youre the one who disgreed with his BRILLIANT statement.

Rand Paul 2016

Ron Paul is just a man, there

Ron Paul is just a man, there are hundreds of thousands of "murderers" you need to go put on trial for not dissenting. Get started, tough guy.

If you know this is true, you are duty bound to testify.

Considering Dr. Paul has done nothing but tell the truth and the whole truth throughout his entire public life, I can only come to one conclusion about the reaction to the statement:

The truth is a hard pill to swallow. Even if you have been a supporter of Dr. Paul's for the longest time.

Also, it is ok to disagree with Dr. Paul and still support him. Those retracting their support because of ONE STATEMENT make me question if they really even supported him fully in the first place. This statement is Ron Paul doing what he does best: feeding us the truth no matter how hard it is to accept.

The problem is how

The problem is how distasteful and classless the statement is.

I'm not sure how anyone can rationally justify spewing vitriolic rhetoric at lowly servicemen just because "obeying orders" is "no excuse" (FALSE btw).

By that standard all servicemen deserve to be on trial right now. This is incomprehensible.

"spewing vitriolic rhetoric"? No right thinking person would honestly refer to what Ron said as "spewing vitriolic rhetoric."

Stop trolling Carlos.

Congress left the troops to hang in the air.

There is no declaration of war the troops can use as a defense.

These are plain ordinary crimes, war crimes only apples when war is declared.

Maybe the troops should have been aware of this when they volunteered and accepted the pay and all the loot they could carry.

You have a very twisted logic

RP SAYS something and that makes him distasteful and classless.

The man he made the remarks about killed 150 people, then wrote a book to make money off those deaths and to romanticize it - but he is a "hero"

I think you sum up the problem with our society quite well.

PS - When you defend your country - you are a patriot not an insurgent(how to you insurge against your own land??) and when you are in someone elses land - you are not a patriot - you are a tyrant.

Perception IS NOT reality - reality is.

So join the Westboro Baptist

So join the Westboro Baptist Church and practice what you preach. Stop lurking in the shadows of the internet and make your voice heard. You have a spine, don't you? Go protest military funerals.

Ahhh - the huberuous of a man with no ability to think for

Where did I preach to protest funerals? Maybe I mistyped.
I don't think you should protest a funeral for anybody - its not the time or place.

I preached that those waging war in other land are not patriots. I do practice what I preach - I tell every single person who asks me about my service in the Marine Corp WHY I take no pride in it anymore - why the flags dont fly anymore - it is simple really - because I NEVER DID ANYTHING TO DEFEND THIS COUNTRY -EVER!!!!NOR HAS ANY MARINE IN MY LIFETIME!!

When you wake up and realize this - you will be on your way to understanding.
Don't believe me - take it from Smedley Butler - famous Marine General and author of "War is a racket" - in which he declares that our military is used to profit corporations - not protect YOU.
He might know seeing as he is one of the most decorated Marines EVER.
