Lew: I don't understand why Ron Paul supporters would want to be in the GOP in any event. They should all withdraw from this mob of leviathan worshippers and take their creative and highly-principled energies to other venues.
I recall that the corporate-state wing of the Republican Party employed similar purges following Barry Goldwater's loss to Lyndon Johnson in 1964. Why were the neo-cons not forced out of the GOP following Obama's election in 2008, and re-election in 2012?

I can not and will not speak for anyone else. My goal is to promote Liberty and Liberty people. I am in it to win it, as long as Liberty is the end result.
If grassroots got behind Justin, Massey, or anyone else for that matter, in full force as we have done for Ron, I do not see how they would turn down such an offer. The reception of Justin has been nothing but positive. My intent was for this once growing Liberty movement to promote a candidate of OUR choice and to see where it went from there. It is obvious that some here are settling. They forgot what Ron Paul has worked his entire life to realize. They are now willing to sacrifice everything that we have worked for and prop a compromising candidate based upon msm/gop. It may work out for them. Or they will get burned in the end. For all of the wrong reasons.

You may be right
and as I stated to jrd below, nothing wrong with pushing things out for the future.

No
Sorry... I do understand that the question was directed at someone else, but I have invested in Amash and I can tell you he probably won't run.
I see him as worth promoting so people can use him to measure other candidates against.
Oh, and this little comment right here
“to not sell out for a "victory" now over winning the whole thing in the future.”
Well... It might just make too much sense to be in an otherwise rather nonsensical thread. Your rationality is appreciated.
Again, sorry to interrupt.
Carry on.
jrd is still here... kinda in a weird sort of way. She also just might be the happiest girl in the world because she got exactly what she wanted which was a perfect summer wandering playlist.
You're right, keeping him in office is important too
and even planning for a future run wouldn't be a bad thing.
"Well... It might just make too much sense to be in an otherwise rather nonsensical thread. Your rationality is appreciated."
I appreciate it but I'm not saying anything that many more aren't thinking I'm sure, including you.

Now why would you think you're interrupting? :)

"Now why would you think you were interrupting?"
Because people around here become way too tense in these threads which is why I avoid them for the most part. Everyone is on the offense. I forget sometimes when I am talking to someone who can refrain from yelling unless provoked.
Have a good evening sir. I am glad I am not the only one who simply cannot just settle for Rand.

I agree with you on all of the above!
And I commend you for the work you are doing. I wish you the best and consider this a $20 spot to help support you if I could feed it through my screen.
That said, I still dont believe Amash is ready THIS CYCLE. I'm NOT trying to cram Rand down your throat with that statement. I'm just saying.
Additionally, back to the point of my original reply, I hardly think that what I just said or what Granger has said about Amash qualifies as "bashing," especially not compared to some of the Rand bashing around here. For Pete's sake, there are people are around here who call Rand everything but a baby killer.
Amash
I usually avoid these threads because they give me a headache, but I had to jump in here.
First of all, I've been doing my part for Amash in MI also. Lot's of flyers and educating.
"He appeals to the younger generation, which is needed to effect the change that we seek." Yup. Amash is not hard to sell to the young folks either. I am a college student and it took a little more effort than convincing people of Ron Paul, but it was not the hardest thing I have ever done.
"And Justin is not ready?" There is always an excuse isn't there?
I would prefer to choose my own candidate instead of having one pushed at me, and I'll support an underdog any day if it means I am supporting what makes sense to me.
Keep working on promoting Amash, I'm working on it here in the Central part of the state, even though I'm not in his district. As your signature says "Amash is on the horizon"

it is posts like yours that keep me going.
Now it's 3 states in the works. Any more? :-)

Don't throw in the towel
I can't do it myself lol! I am already so out of place here sometimes, I need to know there are others out there!
Other states? I have a friend going to school at Notre Dame and I started tuning her on to Amash... slowly but surely... Maybe she will take it from there.
You say you go to gun shows and promote him? Keep working on that crowd and other crowds, don't worry about the college students, I'll take care of them.
I've been flipping liberals and college students for years, I'm damn good at it and I haven't missed my mark in a while.
Just please... Don't stop!!!

Link to Granger's basing of Amash?
Please. Thanks.
Granger apart, I thought we had a good chance to effect
change and I still believe that.. to what degree is another story. I see the seeming inevitability of what's coming down the chute but it doesn't hurt to try. I think we have a duty to do that as well before we do "anything" else.
Dr.Paul believed in doing it through the GOP and I still think we can make some headway, even if that headway comes in a form of forcing them to show their true colors.. which by the way, they did in spades.
If it upsets them, I'm willing to do it.

GOP is very weak
Many in the Liberty Movement believe that becoming active in the GOP can help the Liberty Movement become a Political Force. If the Liberty Movement can build coalitions with Tea Party Members and Long Time Conservatives within the party, we have a good chance of gaining power. The Big Government Republicans of course are fighting back to retain power.
In my state, We are also fighting a very rich man who is trying to do a leveraged buyout of the very weak GOP. Some Counties he has control of, others are fighting this external force.
Everyone must choose their own path towards Liberty. I believe criticizing those who have taken different paths is not-productive. I and many others are following Dr. Paul's example and trying to move the GOP towards Liberty.
For those who wish to do so as well, showing up is 80% of the fight.
Wiseburn, you misread completely
Ron Paul said Republi-CAN. No, no compromising and coalitions but TAKING OVER. Thank you very much.
It's people like you and the "Lt" here which makes our job taking it over 10 times harder. No thank you very much.
I'm not there to build anything with anyone that doesn't
set right with me politically.. What "I" AM doing is trying to take as many spots as possible so "we" can control what happens in the GOP. It's an uphill battle I know and when we do get those seats and the control we have to figure out where the money will come from because many of those GOP establishment donors will dry up and will need to be replaced with libertarian donors.

I'm just wondering when our
I'm just wondering when our movement will finally realize we have the power in our own hands. 3rd party is a new and fresh idea to many(not many sheeple even knew there was a 3rd party till recently lol). I think we would get much more done if we make our own party and stick to it. Build it ground up.
Think about it.. How many democrats know our message, but will NEVER vote republican just because it's against everything they know? How many independents will NEVER vote republican because they see both parties as corrupt? The recent polls have spoken and they say more and more people are leaning more towards and looking for a 3rd party candidate.
The GOP stole what was ours right in front our faces, on camera, and you think they won't do this again!?? Come on people...
The only problem with your theory is
that the game is rigged to prevent a 3rd party from gaining any traction. They have passed rules in the Congress and legislation for elections, that give the D's and R's an unfair advantage to overcome. Why do you think Dr Paul chose to continue in the GOP? He knew at least he would get some ability to sell his Constitutional ideology, if he was a Libertarian or any other party affiliation, he would of been completely shut out. We saw how the Tea Party was undermined and taken over. I trully don't believe there is enough time to establish any kind of third party movement before the SHTF. I believe we need to continue to press our ideas and hopefully wake up as many as possible to expose the sellouts in the GOP, and create alliances to unite against the coming tyranny the American people will soon face when the economic collapse comes.
Precisely.
Dr. Paul knows the game better than "surfmatt" and is why he asked us to do it WITHIN the GOP.
NOT FOLLOWING DR P's DIRECTION ON THE MATTER, makes our job 10 times harder.
Whoa easy cool guy LOL. It
Whoa easy cool guy LOL. It was just an idea thrown out by a fellow libertarian.
Who said that we have to "follow" anyone?? Who said we have to do it "Ron Paul's way"?? I'm all for infiltrating a party if there is a reason for it, but from what we have seen the GOP will change rules or kick us out NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY OR DO.
And i'm all for joining forces and helping one another, but in no way am I into following people or falling in line just to get along, you know... kind of like Ron Paul didn't..
I am too..
And for those of us who have been in the liberty movement for 10 , 20 or 30 years and you coming along with your "great ideas", while you are completely free to do so, Dr. Paul's direction makes the most sense, is the most efficient and has the best DEMONSTRATED RESULTS.
So, you can do as many of us have and learn that the hard way, meanwhile making life difficult for us, or you can join us and kick some @$$ the way Dr. Paul trailblazed for us.
I hope you choose the latter. Yes, it may mean you have to keep some "great ideas" to yourself while you gain experience.
Dude, I never claimed it was
Dude, I never claimed it was some "great idea" lol, I just have a different opinion to yours is all. Ron Paul stopped running as a Libertarian in 2008 meaning he changed his strategy. Are you telling me if we changed our own strategy that it would be against what Ron Paul wanted? That makes no sense.. And why is that even a factor? Let's think for ourselves for a moment. Looking at the present public perception of 3rd party I'd say it's something we should be thinking about, don't you think?
Ron Paul stopped running as a Libertarian in 2008?
Really? You are twenty years too late. Actually you are 58 years too late.
I hate to tell you but RP has been registered Republican since he first registered to vote except for 6 months in 2008.
That's right. I hate to break it to you but in SIXTY YEARS, Ron PAul has been a Republican for SIXTY YEARS (minus 6 months).
Perhaps that's a surprise to you. If it is, it's because YOU DONT KNOW RON PAUL.
Ron Paul was a Republican before Rience Preiebus was even born!
Nope it's an UTTER waste of time.
Here's my suggestion for you. Go to 2 LP meetings.
Then hook up with some RP GOP activists and go with them to 2 GOP meetings, then report back after all 4.
If you can't tell the difference, well Godspeed, my friend.
George Washington would have kicked the butts of todays LPers for being chatty cathy p*ssies. He would not have been able to stand them.
This is a very good suggestion FBI_Exposer Ω™
I really do believe the LP is flipping out because the best LP grassroots activists who were not insiders (the ones who make sure guys like Bob Barr abd GJ are nominated) left for the GOP and have taken seats, leaving those who have been pulling the strings empty handed.
I also think that some of them have "followed" us into the GOP and are still trying to defeat us.. Get this, The "Liberty Movement in the GOP here in CA, has invited Libertarian Raimondo to be the speaker for our little get together at the GOP Spring convention.
You bet I wrote them a letter and protested.. It's exactly as you say, the GOP wants loyalty and inviting Raimondo is underminding us. I'm going to the convention, but I'm not going anywhere near Raimondo.
This group did NOTHING to get us a suite, a table, a conference with CA GOP leaders.. instead, they set up a little Raimondo speaking engagement..
With friends like that, who needs Neocons dirty tricks?
STAND WITH RAND 2016
P-R-E-C-I-S-E-L-Y
I totally understand. We have exactly ones like that in my state as well. I'm suprised they lasted this long. The worst of them will not be able to remain another election cycle, because they've never stuck to one thing for two WHOLE years in their lives!
Hey, but to those that do... good on them! And to the quitters.. GOOD RIDDANCE.
Have patience in the Lord. As you know it's ultimately in His hands. We are just His instruments.
Remember in all your work it's for A.M.D.G. :D
It's just as rigged to keep
It's just as rigged to keep us OUT of the GOP. At least in our own party we could do as we want with our own media and not be cheated out of anything, right? We have a lot of people behind this message and the internet has won the media war, so why not take advantage?
I mean come on we all know the ballot systems are rigged, the parties nominations are rigged, hell the whole system is rigged... But if we start our own party and find a system where we could record every single vote ourselves they CANNOT cheat us out of votes. We should put our heads together and come up with a way they can't steal our votes NOW. Not later, not near 2016 when it's too late. Look we could go into any party, but why stay in the GOP knowing they will just change rules a day before a candidacy?
I understand what you're saying, but I just have a problem with doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.. Definition of crazy?
There is NOT a 3rd party that hasn't been compromised.
When they produce a real candidate that carries the same message as Dr.Paul and one that has a record of promoting Liberty.. REAL Liberty and not neocon policies for the last 20 years and is NOW having a change of heart, I will back them.. till then 3rd party is a worse long shot than the GOP merely because of the visibility of the GOP.

Hey Big Boy!
My purist friend! Do you have any thoughts on Pat Buchanan? I am asking because I got stuck in town for an extra hour without my notebook so I listened to talk radio and Hannity was talking to him about Egypt. Anyways, I was wondering about him, not Hannity, I don't wonder about him. But Buchanan.
Anyways, it got really cold here in the midwest last week and I thought of you as I read somewhere where you were talking about Alaska. But your ID never came up on the side...so now I am asking you about Buchanan :)
...
...
He has a lot of good to say but I wouldn't back him
He touts himself as a traditional conservative which if we were picking degrees of good, he'd be above any neocon but he just isn't good enough for me. Go figure. :)
He rips Hannity a new one here and nothing wrong with that.

I think today's was a continuation of that interview. Here is a DP link: http://www.dailypaul.com/273255/hannity-slammed-on-foreign-p...
I found Buchanan's justification of continuing to send military equipment to Egypt an interesting take; i.e., we are counting on the military as the last card to be played against the current Egyptian adminisration if it should get too out of line...and we maintain Egypt's military devotion of sorts thru sending them military equipment.
That bothered me a bit. But I found it an interesting take. It was opposite of Rand's denial of equipment from what I was getting out of it. Do you know about that stuff?
