Must we worship everyone in a uniform? Everyone who wears a US military uniform is NOT a hero. What route to heroism is so easy? It's precisely because of this blanket praise that so many young, struggling people join the services.

And we're supposed to praise Kyle further because he was proficient at killing people from the shadows?

He didn't kill people for

He didn't kill people for fun, he killed threats to himself and his fellow servicemen.

I'm not a combat vet, but I sure wouldn't mind having someone "in the shadows" killing people that are about to throw a grenade in my direction.

Doesn't mean I agree with war, or our foreign policy, or that they have to resort to killing others to secure their life.

But they're in the position and they're doing what it takes to get out.

I will NEVER consider them murderers, as you seem to imply.

I think in his case you may be wrong

To come home and write a book and be so proud of the lives taken(lets forget IF they deserved to die - I dont believe so - but that is another discussion) does not exactly tell me he was merely going all primal instinct.
And yes - in combat it's great to have that guy covering your back side - but when you leave the combat zone and you reflect - you probably shouldn't be thinking - geesh - that was sooo cool - let's make a million bucks telling about it.

Murderer - no not in they eyes of the law - but God may have something to say about that in the end - and I think it will be a hard sell.

he shouldn't brag about it

That kind of courage, which is conspicuous in danger and enterprise, if devoid of justice, is absolutely undeserving of the name of valor. It should rather be considered as a brutal fierceness outraging every principle of humanity. – Cicero

One of my best friends was a Viet Nam Combat Vet. He is proud of his service, but not of his killing.

That's like saying everyone in D.C.

Wearing a flag on their lapel must be a patriot.

Ron Paul Was Right

Not even close.

Not even close.

You would be amazed

At how many soldiers in Vietnam avoided prison time by enlisting.

Ron Paul Was Right

First of All Kyle Lied About Punching Jesse Ventura...

Kyle cut a deal with the devil when he agreed to lie about Jesse Ventura. So now they murdered him to keep the secret..

Why does a hero have to behave like this Rand?

Ron Paul is right about one thing here:

"You live by the sword, you die by the sword"

nuff said!

Let me get this straight.

You're saying this man was murdered because of a secret over not throwing a punch at a former wrestler/politician?

Sounds a little far-fetched.

And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

that's true

and Kyle doesn't want to talk about it - even when asked about it.

I heard a radio interview where one of the on-air personalities asked him if he punched Jesse and kyle said he didn't want to talk about it.

What kind of guy makes up stuff like that?

listen at the 2:13 mark for the question and comment

a scumbag

thats who. when i saw the headline, my first assumption was that Kyle wanted to tell the court the truth

Do you guys ever want to win an election?

Or save the country for that matter? Or just piss from the balcony? Rand Paul smartly applied conventional thinking to a conventional audience.

Bingo! When someone

Bingo! When someone dies,..the proper thing to do is send condolences. Most Americans still support our vets last I checked. My husband served. My son wants to be just like daddy.

Kevin, I agree

Many here became overly purist (as it often happens to newly converted.) Marxists were also killing each other for purity of their dogma.

In addition, many suffer from a serious case of Dunning–Kruger syndrome

If anyone suffers from the Dunning-Kruger syndrom

It's the "Rand has a strategy" crowd.

But Rand does have a

But Rand does have a strategy...

Another Example...

...of Lil' Rands pandering idiocy, in my opinion.

As has already been said, merely wearing the uniform does not 'a hero' make. I have worked for dipschites in policing like that before. Always calling police 'heroes' merely because they don a uniform.

Heroism is an act, not bestowed due to simple employment or functionary reasons. To say otherwise is to cheapen true heroism.

Fuck Breitbart

Neo-con trash

Sorry Rand....

donning a uniform does not make you a hero and I fail to see how any of Chris Kyle's actions defended THIS country.

I'm not saying the man was not a hero, just that by Rand's definition a Nazi soldier putting on a uniform to preemptively invade Poland would have qualified.
