Who donated about $400,000 just now.

Is it a mistake? Real time donation just jumped from about 900,000 to more than 1,300,000. How come? » |

Playing Catch-Up?
I just checked over at Paul Cash (real-time donations and statistics) and noticed that, per hour, there has been a consistent zero dollars donated all day, which I find hard to believe.
Either nobody donated all day long and then, suddenly at 8:00pm, 14,000 people donated all at the same time; or, more likely, 14,000 people donated all day long and the ticker / counter / donation processor just caught up at 8pm. Whether it was all in one fell swoop, or over the day, I'd say it's a pretty good showing! Let's keep it going!!

That was my $400,000.
But seriously, whenever there is a large increase in the tally like that, that means they uploaded data from offline donations. It happens regularly. Not a huge deal. We hope they do those during the money bomb days, to inflate the numbers, but they could be from donations up to a week or two ago.
They Can't Try and Donate on "Bomb" Days
Because that would be "coordination" and make all the "bomb" sites contributions to the official campaign.
What could show non-coordination better than posting money on a random day?

Happened before
I remember when they did an offline upload a day or two before 12/16 people were saying they should have waited, in order to inflate the numbers on that day. Then I believe there was another offline upload on that day, which could have been from offline donations during that day. If that was indeed what happened, then thats the exact way it should be handled for money bomb days.
Last night the number of donations...
jumped 12K to 13K in a few minutes but the total did not go up that much. So, I guess this must be offline donations.
