DOJ Says Drone Strikes on Americans Legal

Headline on Drudge links to this article:

A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force” -- even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.

so the executive branch has a James Bond style license to kill any American they deem a threat to their regime.

And the same people who decide who is a 'terrorist'...are the same ones who thought Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

People need to wake the hell up.

Lincoln had a similar license

Henry Clay Dean, a Copperhead Democrat, in 1867 once wrote "He who is above or outside the Law, shall be Judged and Punished outside of the Court." ~ 'Crimes of the Civil War: And Curse of the Funding System'

Or something very similar.

Point is, when Gov't Officials begin outwardly ignoring the Laws (Courts) they hold others to, others will soon follow suit and it will be Gov't Officials who are being Judged, Tried, and Punished outside of the Court System.

This is not rocket science, it is simply Human Behavior.

he certainly didn't get a chance to renew his license.

So let me get this right....

These are the same politicians and administration that say that guns are bad because innocent people might die, but it's okay to use a drone strike to take out half a block, an orphanage, old folks home, and a school to murder an American Citizen that might have posted something mean about America on a website?

WTF is going on here? How can people not realize how ridiculous this is? I feel like that scene from Zoolander, where Will Ferrel's character yells, "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!"

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I've got 6 HUGE problems with this

1 Our Government LIES to us constantly!

2 Our Government classifies so much information that "we the people" never are able to see any of these so called "facts" that prove someone is an imminent threat to our national security

3 OUR Governmet justifies all these killings on the 9/11 "terrorist" attacks in which they had prior knowledge and most likely played a leading role...and they continue to LIE about that!

4 Our Government CREATED Al-CIA-DA, they continue to provide Al-CIA-DA with money and weapons, and they continue to LIE about that!

5 Our Government is already guilty of war crimes and continues to commit more.

6 Our Government uses assassination as a part of their foreign policy have have been for decades.

And they have the gall to say that its legal for the US government to kill anyone it chooses because if its government that does the killing, that in itself makes it legal.

The people in power in this country are completely out of control. They pillage the public purse non-stop, they go around killing people all over the globe for reasons that defy explaination, and they are oppressing us here at home as if we are the enemy.

ABSOLUTE INSANITY!

Nonsense - Such An Attack Is An Act of War With A State

Any state that becomes the victim of a drone attack by the federal government for ANY reason should consider such an attack an act of war by the federal government whether "legitimized" by the corrupt federal establishment or not. PERIOD.

Regardless of what the states would do...

...I personally will both consider it an act of war and proceed accordingly. As should we all.

Blowback In America

Just like overseas, the USA will experience the rise of the radicals due to the central government's unilateral acts of war against the sovereign states. I can definitely see how the USA will finally get some governors with a set of balls. We need to start grilling current governors or those candidates running for governor over this issue. Can one just imagine a candidate running for governor that won't defend the people of his state from such unilateral attacks? LoL We fought a revolutionary war over similar tactics by the British. Now, the enemy is apparently our own central government. The time for combat is close as the federal government insists on bringing the battlefield to the states.

Democrat no more

For many years I've clung to my democratic roots for want of same sex marriage, freedom of choice, and freedom of substance use. I realized a few years ago that these are the same principles of liberty that the libertarian party agreed with at its core. I've clung to the democratic party (and looked past the fiscal issues that were always a backburner issue with me), but I can no longer do so.

I forgave the bipartisan signing of the patriot act, and like many I was abast at the events of 9/11. I disliked the president signing the NDAA, but liked the man who signed it enough to look the other way. But this?

This takes the cake. To completely trash due process? No sir.

I registered as a libertarian last election cycle (namely because Pennsylvania initiated a voter ID law I didn't agreewith on implementation, and did not wish to be harrassed at the polling place - where I live is deeply red), and I think I will keep it that way instead of changing it back.

I am not a gun fanatic, do not own one, and after Sandyhook I saw a need for gun reform. However, if the government is now reserving the right to murder its own citizens without due process, then I see no reason for anyone to give up their personal protection. It's sad that I have to say that, and abandon the party that I once held in such high respects, but it needs to be done.

I will gladly support the Libertarian party (even donated to Johnson in this past election because I liked the guy) as long as the party continues on this path of personal liberty, and does not return to the "little step brother" of the Republican party.

Welcome to Daily Paul! Here

Welcome to Daily Paul!

Here you can find many ex-democrats who have come to understand that there is actually no big difference between D and R. They are the same BS.

I've been a reader of the site for quite a whlie

as well as a big commentator at Dailykos (feel free to look up my comments/diaries there). I understand that many libertarians are both ex D's and ex R's.

As I said though, my biggest liberty issues are by far social ones and quite frankly the libertarian party has gone beyond the Dems on the left of social issues.

Hi! Bugging you to

ask a favor, it seems to me that I am seeing that the DP is having difficulty funding itself so I have created a post http://www.dailypaul.com/273372/calling-all-friends-of-liber...

in hopes that we Friends of Liberty can do something or think of something to keep this place going. I hope if you have a chance you can stop by and perhaps add an idea.

Hi Bear! Nice to "see" you!

Hi Bear! Nice to "see" you! How's your world spinning? I checked out your post. What a great idea!

Pookie Bear :)

She was my first puppy of my very own. She was our child before the children. She is resting in peace now though. Anyways, it was a way for me to up my subscription. I told my husband I would like a picture next to my posts. He granted me an early birthday present. The Daily Paul is important to me. Sounds kind of silly I guess...when you think about what I could have traded for a birthday present, but really, I find much satisfaction coming here, mingling, getting Liberty News and learning from my Friends in Liberty.

Hey bear!

I myself joined Sunday, very glad to support. Good to see you!

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Good to see you as well :)

Awwww...I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your little guy. I have a little girl. Her name is Izzy. I would be lost without her. She loves me so unconditionally!

Her name was really Precious

but pookie bear was her nick name. So you have an Izzy. Yes, unconditional puppy love :)

This is a double post - already posted as Finally Obama

is being outed as the murdering pig that he is...

You may want to delete this post. Thank you, though.

Can the cowards who downvoted please explain why

All I pointed out was that this information has already been posted.
Why do we need multiple posts about the same issue?
Who are the cowards who downvoted without explaining what offended you?

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

Cowards? Gfy Come call me

Cowards? Gfy

Come call me that to my face tough guy.

Try a better title that actually previews what the post is about so people know what you mean.

So are you the one who downvoted me without explanation?

I will always believe it cowardly to downvote without saying why. Your opinion obviously differs. An upvote needs no explaining - if you agree there's no need to expound and just up-vote, unless of course, you wish to expound or praise the comment, but a downvote means disagreement and should be expounded on. What I wrote wasn't a criticism of the content, just pointing out that the content existed already. Yet you take umbrage with that, downvote me ???, and don't say why it annoyed you?
And I read your other comments - sneering and jeering and behavior unbecoming of a decent human being. Like your cursing at me and mild threat for no reason I can detect - except your erroneous assumption that I am the author of the other post I mentioned. Civil discourse does not seem to be your forte.
So yes, if you are one of the people who downvoted me sans explanation - you are a coward and I am saying it to your face.
Happy now? And are you going to hunt me down now and beat me up or just spew more profanity? Maybe you'd like to drone me?
Oh, and I'm downvoting you for your use of profanity. Civil discourse is needed now more than ever in these troubling times.

I couldnt care less about the

I couldnt care less about the voting system on here but since you opened the door and showed me that it bothers you, I exploited it.

You come on my thread, demanding explanations like its your right.

The anonymity of the internet creates courage for people that have none.

If the voting system here affects you that much, I bet getting picked last for kick ball in school really stung.

Good day.

I'm afraid I'm guilty of not assuming

that I'm dealing with some individuals with a ninth grade mentality. I will endeavor to "dumb down" my titles in the future so you will not feel the need to engage in threatening puffery in the future. Ever notice that the birds that strut around the most puffed up taste the best?

If not us than who?

"being outed as the murdering

"being outed as the murdering pig that he is."

Well, looks like your thread could be about any number of subjects. Mine is specific.

Also, my thread is now the top post and yours is buried.

I guess they deemed mine more fitting to be published than yours.

You mad bro?

Perhaps

they view this information as "must see" and therefor whether it is posted once or 100 times it is worth the exposure?
