Gun Owners of American fire back.

Six states, California, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New York are working on legislation to require gun owners to purchase liability insurance. GOA said when asked if requiring insurance was constitutional "if they didn't address it in committee, I'll guarantee they will address it in court." The idiots in my state are also planning to do a gun buy back program that gives a tax credit.

Update on California

California has 10 new bills before the legislature regulating guns and ammo. They include everything from charging a fee and background checks to purchase ammo, registration of all guns, limiting the number of bullets in a clip for current gun owners and future owners, requiring liability insurance, lending guns to anyone, a new list of prohibited weapons, bullet buttons that allow for quick reload, and semi auto rifles with detachable magazines. The state is controlled by the Dems so these may pass. Gun Owners of America has promised to fight back.

insurance is a scam (obviously)

I heard it explained somewhere that much of this proliferation of insurance, including life insurance and others, was created by the banks because all these dead people couldn't pay off their debts, and of course banks are the most common debtors, or else they eventually suffer a loss to some degree when someone somewhere can't pay a debt. It never had to do with providing a service to citizens who couldn't afford to suffer a big loss. It was about banks not wanting to get stuck with bad debts, always making a profit off every human life. That's why these mandatory insurance policies like auto insurance and now health insurance are so frightening; they ensure that people will pay out the ass to the banks no matter who they are or what might happen.

Pretty soon I am going to need insurance to speak my mind

After all, someone might get offended. Hope Ron Paul had some when he quoted Jesus.

Liabiluty insurance for lawmakers

I think the lawmakers need to purchase liability insurance. They can cause a lot more damage than any gun owner.

they've already got it. It's called "sovereign immunity," and it means taxpayers get to pay for the politicians' mistakes and misdeeds.

It's like when someone sues a city or a police department for some government abuse and wins: taxpayers get to pay the judgment, not the uniformed thugs who created the problem.

There's also 'qualified

There's also 'qualified immunity,' which if lost by an official or officer they can be sued personally.

Another line in the sand

No government has the right to force an individual to purchase a product (including auto, health insurances etc), and I look forward to defying their unjust laws

Murdock v Penn, 319 U.S. 105: clearly established that no state could convert a secured liberty into a privilege and issue a license and a fee for it.

Shuttlesworth v Birm, 394 U.S. 147: Said that if the state does convert your right into a privilege and charge a license and a fee for it you can ignore the license and fee, and engage in the right with impunity. That means they can't punish you…they have to let you go.

The Supremes said Obamacare was a tax
