The Presidential MafiaSubmitted by TommyPaine on Thu, 02/07/2013 - 00:42
The "Presidential Mafia" is a term I'm using to suggest that those who make it to the office, or in many cases even get to run, are "made men" like the mafia has.
In the mafia, as I've heard, a guy can't really get to the top until he is "made." That probably means a few killings and assorted "unpleasantries."
Within the context of presidential candidates, I'm thinking more along the lines of how particular individuals got "made" or plugged into the system where they emerged as a candidate.
For example, George W. Bush was a failure in pretty much everything he ever did in life, but his daddy and grandaddy were kingpins. That's a no-brainer how he got "made" into the inner circle.
Bill Clinton got made at Georgetown University when his professor, Carroll Quigley, introduced him into the inner circle through his contacts.
Both George H. W. Bush and Richard Nixon came in through George's daddy, Prescott Bush. Nixon was Prescott's protege, and Georgie was a chip off the old block -- that old block Prescott who was convicted under the Trading with the Enemies Act for helping to finance Hitler.
Gerald Ford sold his soul on the Warren Commission, being the guy who changed the report to lie about where the bullet in the back/neck hit JFK.
Jimmy Carter -- I have no idea where a peanut farmer from Georgia fits in. Probably a mistake.
Lyndon Johnson was a thug from Texas from day 1. Probably had a few people "taken care of" to find his way in.
Ronald Reagan -- I don't know.
Barack Obama -- that's the question we would like to know, as his history is one big mystery, but probably has something to do with the terrorists he associated with back in the day. Maybe CIA connections through his family.
Anybody have any info or theories on presidents or candidates?
When you step back and take a big picture overview of the lot of people Americans have had as president ... it's pretty dang pathetic.
