DHS Purchases 21.6 Million More Rounds of Ammunition

Federal agency has now acquired enough bullets to wage 30 year war

Paul Joseph Watson | Infowars.com | February 7, 2013

The Department of Homeland Security is set to purchase a further 21.6 million rounds of ammunition to add to the 1.6 billion bullets it has already obtained over the course of the last 10 months alone, figures which have stoked concerns that the federal agency is preparing for civil unrest.

A solicitation posted yesterday on the Fed Bid website details how the bullets are required for the DHS Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, New Mexico.

The solicitation asks for 10 million pistol cartridge .40 caliber 165 Grain, jacketed Hollow point bullets (100 quantities of 100,000 rounds) and 10 million 9mm 115 grain jacketed hollow point bullets (100 quantities of 100,000 rounds).

The document also lists a requirement for 1.6 million pistol cartridge 9mm ball bullets (40 quantities of 40,000 rounds).

An approximation of how many rounds of ammunition the DHS has now secured over the last 10 months stands at around 1.625 billion.

DHS 21.6 Million Rounds Purchase A Lie

Media Fumble: DHS 21.6 Million Rounds Purchase A Lie - actual rounds bought 240 000 - NOT 21.6 million

All I'm getting out of this

All I'm getting out of this is that DHS agents don't know how to aim.

As I understand it, these

As I understand it, these aren't purchases. They're locked in rates of up to this many rounds, which may never be purchases. I think this is more disinfowars.com crap.

It's all handgun rounds

Anyone know how much of the ~1.6 billion are rifle rounds?

How many shots does it take for a DHS bureaucrat to hit a target

Answer: No more than 21.6 million shots.

If "We the People" had any power at all

we would be able to easily point out areas where spending can be cut. Since they just can't seem to find ANYWHERE to cut spending...I'd be willing to bet that 99% of Americans would vote to ELIMINATE spending OUR money to arm the DHS to the teeth with hollow point ammunition. Of course if WE were able to vote on where spending should be eliminated or cut, WE could find 1000's of programs to eliminate in just a few hours.

It was upsetting when I "woke up" and starting researching government spending and found out how much money we litterally give away to international bankers, multi-national corporations, and foreign countries.

It was even more upsetting when I discovered how our government and the politically connected have created legislation that allows them to legally commit fraud and legally steal from the public purse.

But nothing is more disturbing than watching the usrpers who have taken control of our government, use OUR money to purchase billions of rounds of hollow point bullets to arm Federal Agencies (that operate almost exclusively inside US borders)and have traditionally never required the use or threat of deadly force to accomplish their missions.

I've never had the expression "slippery slope" pop into my head more often than it has over the past few weeks. Thats not really upsetting to me, but it certainly can't be good.

On a positive note, I continue to sense more people beginning the process of waking up. For those of us that have been soldiering along for several years, trying every trick in the book to get others to wake up, it sure is nice to see that our time and efforts have not been a complete waste. Clearly we have a long way to go, but I've enjoyed the challege ever since I first made a conscious effort to try and un-brainwash my circle of friends and anyone else I thought I could reach. So, anytime I sense we have gained just a little bit more traction...it gives me renewed vigor.

I'm thinking they are planning for a real varmit problem

Hope we are not the varmits

Pork?

Is it possible this is just a cronyist, pork barrel project otherwise known as a payback, payoff and a transfer of private money to the corporate sector?

Ex: the government bought metric tonnes of corn and stockpiled it to rot to prop up the farming sector. Why is this different?

Could it be that winding down wars are leaving the armaments industry with a shortfall and this is an indirect bailout?

Just looking at a different angle.

Unlike corn, bullets don't rot.

And in the hands of a terrorist government with a history of terrorist activates it doesn't look good.

"A vote for the lesser of two evils is a vote to keep things the same", Buckminster Fuller..
A choice for liberty is always a choice for liberty.

.

The gov't has a history of blowing money on military supplies and then just letting it sit for decades. Planes in the desert, missiles idle in silos leaking fuel, multiple engine plants for hardware we don't need, nuclear attack subs with nothing left to attack...

Not possible its just pork? There is going to be big contraction in defense spending. That means loss of jobs and politicians are expected to bring home the pork.

But yes, I can't remember the last time a Social Security Officer had to protect the disability office with hollow point .45 ACP...

I posted this already, but I

I posted this already, but I don't think they purchased these rounds. I think they just locked in the price for if they do.

26 million

will last federal agencies less than 1 month at the range. NON STORY.

hollow points

are not target practice ammo
they are used on living things to kill

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

Why would they use hollow points at the range?

Enough for a 30-Year War? I'm calling B#llsh!7

Psh, hardly. Look at some of the ammunition use rates from Iraq and Afghanistan:

http://jonathanturley.org/2011/01/10/gao-u-s-has-fired-25000...

According to these numbers they use about 1.8 Billion rounds of small-arms ammo EACH YEAR. So yeah, the idea that $26 Million is gonna last 30 years is ridiculous.

This is why I take Infowars with a grain of salt: So much un-needed and paranoid commentary. Isn't it enough to report the number of bullets and let people drawn whatever conclusions they will?

Those numbers are not correct

It's actually closer to about 70 million rounds a year for Iraq. So, the amount of ammo the DHS is hording is troubling, no matter why they are doing it. You apparently clicked on the first or second link in google when you went searching on this topic and did not see the myriad other sites that show a different number.

I believe the article is

I believe the article is stating that 1.6+ billion would last 30 years, not 26 million

"The Department of Homeland Security is set to purchase a further 21.6 million rounds of ammunition to add to the 1.6 billion bullets it has already obtained"

Could they be making these

Could they be making these large purchases to drive the prices of ammo up?

and to keep ammo off the shelves

while we will have the 2nd intact, the ammo won't be there
for our arms

they can make more deacon.

they can make more deacon. supply chases demand. You guys should know this.

deacon's picture

i know that

but look what has been happening
stores are out, waiting on the supply
the supply hasn't been shipped yet, because the dhs has such a big order
around here,all i have seen small quantities,our
gun store only has ammo in them old military tins, most of them are beaten up and dented
so yes supply and demand works, but at this point the demand is higher
than the suppliers can handle
and i also see the prices doubling after they get caught up
much the same way the prices of arms did, last yr an AK ran around
$300,no tax included, now the same arm is close to $500 with the tax included
I do not see the fed gov stopping their buying of ammo any time soon either

Why hasn't Evian Group gotten more attention?

- It seems that the Evian Group was formed on December 12, 2012, just 5 days before the announcement of the solicitation
- In reviewing the DUNS (Dun and Bradstreet) record, when the telephone number was called, it was not a business line, but a rather unusual phrase was used, “…[P]lease download line 2”.
- Furthermore, no property or telephone records exist for the principals. The people do not seem to exist.
